God bless America - potential best movie ever?

Some good stuff came out this year. Drive, The Artist, Hugo, Rango, Source Code, Tree of Life, and Win Win were all good. I don’t think I saw any comic book movies, so I can’t vouch for them.

But yeah, most of the movies I saw in 2011 were screenings of older movies, sooo…

Tell me when they create a movie about killing the real scumbags like for-sale-to-the highest-bidder politi-gets shot.

If anything it looks like it could be criticized for beating us over the head with it’s point relentlessly. Only those under 12 and/or no understanding of the word parody won’t “get it” which I doubt is a demographic that encapsulates the entire spectrum of the media.

Also you incorrectly used the word to, you should have said “too”.

Guy from movie: I really hate condescending internet grammar nazis shoots OZ in the head.

Postal: The Movie? LOL

That’s already a thing, and it is glorious

Ah so only 99% of the media then. My bad.

You may be underestimating the ability for self-styled family activists to behave with the mindset of a 12 year old.

I feel as though I’ve pretty much seen the entire movie after watching that trailer, so I won’t be spoiling it for myself by going to the cinema

This is why I’m all homo for you. No homo.

I wouldn’t call it the modern condition, but the human condition (as the condition you speak of has been existent since the birth of civilization).

Great post, all the same.

To know whether I’m on the right track with my own half-assed analysis - The Dark Knight’s pandering is done through the Joker?

To some extent, but in a more comprehensive sense, the film is seeded with material that recalls the War on Terror. While it admirably dares to bring up the role of a character like Batman with our modern times, it ultimately steers clear of developing a cogent opinion of his activities. The closest it comes to a firm moral position is the boat scene, which evades the terror stuff and focuses more broadly on whether or not human socialization will crumble in extreme circumstances. Or maybe just these particular extreme circumstances, at least.

Compare to Dirty Harry, a film which explores similar subject matter and also features a character whose relationship with the law is tenuous at best. Instead of trying to satisfy everybody, the material makes no bones about which side it takes and leaves it to us to agree or disagree. I personally find that to be a more effective choice with this kind of material. It’s more confrontational with both the subject matter and the audience.

Not gonna lie, this looks pretty good.

Well it’s nice to see Joel Murray getting work.

I’ve seen enough of the trailer to not have to see the movie.

THE END.

PS - Looks like I just posted what Nando said already.

PSS - I kinda feel bad for people who are easily entertained by this.

PSSS - Does that mean people who were easily entertained by this feel that something is wrong with me?

PSSSS - Ides of March was a very good movie that didn’t get enough credit this year.

i concur

I want to see this for the killings and the lol kills like the parking space
But i agree on this moving being for people think its cool to hate modern culture (if you will) and (lol, to put it nicely) for others to clown on those who didn’t get the joke of those/these people existence from the begging.

I hope Kids don’t think its okay to shoot people though. As i get older I have to start worrying about the youth asI 've a lot of faith in people my age and older.

naaah, some people just want to see killings and stuff without it being all Hostle and Saw like.
And with the darkness of a movie like rampage
And without the britshness of shoot em up :stuck_out_tongue:

The wackiness of this movie from the trailer makes me feel like I’m watching a cartoon, but in real life.

Well… it’s certainly appealing to it’s very obvious target audience.

I haven’t seen it, am I going to get shot?

It hasn’t been released yet and it’s already cool to hate it now? Some things never change in GD
