i might come, might bring some of the chitown crew with me.

Get hype!!!

i’ll actually refrain from giving a confirmation till it gets closer, it’s like a 9 hour drive soo…

GAMESNGO -

You may want to post tourney rules for each game; specifically, what kind of monitors you’ll be using and which console will be used. Thanks.

I’m not sure about the equipment, as I think we’re relying on everyone to pitch in and bring setups. The tourney rules are standard SRK tournament rules (at least for the fighting games) - 2/3 rounds (where applicable), 2/3 matches, double elimination. HDR: Akuma banned; 3S: Gill banned; GGXXAC: EX, Shadow, Gold, Justice, Kliff banned.

As for console, all of the fighters that can be on PS3 will be. Otherwise, PS2 (or Wii for TvC).

what about the SNK games. Dark Geese rules? I hope not. I play a lot of the games listed so it might be in my best interest to go but right now it’s not looking good.

Fair enough. I just think that with the games you know will be big draws, the type of monitor and console used will be a deciding factor in people willing to come out; you definitely don’t want a situation with laggy monitors and/or not enough sticks/converters (borrowing stuff from randoms can ease this, but it’s not a great solution considering theft during large tourneys).

For 2k2UM we will be playing the Tougeki version using the Tougeki rules (no boss row).

For XI, isn’t Shion and Mageki banned?

98UM, No Goenitz and Orochi?

For XII, no simple mode, hahaha.

Arsenal: We may be using a lot of CRT tvs. Also for this tourney, I will not be letting NO ONE BORROW MY STICKS FOR ANYTHING. I don’t care if you’re my best friend, or I’ve known you for my entire life.

CRTs seem like the best way to go; dirt cheap and relatively easy to find still and there shouldn’t be any complaints about lag.

Yeah, loaning stuff to randoms at tourneys isn’t something I’ll do, but I will loan stuff to friends.

me marcus humbag and a beast sim player are coming.

How strict is the Holiday Inn about # of people per room? Having traveled before, I’ve encountered varying levels of enforcement from motels/hotels. I want to reserve online for 2 people… but really have 6. But there’s a $15.00 per extra person charge starting after the 3rd guest. This is important information everyone traveling should know.

I’m not really sure what this particular hotel’s policy is, but the less you tell, the better. I’ve stayed in packed rooms at tournaments over the years and my advice is to have 1-2 people check in and tell them 1-2 people are staying in the room. Don’t be a disturbance and no one will be any the wiser.

Some hotels have a central lobby area that is used to access all wings of the hotel while others have a front desk, then detached units (think Season’s Beatings’ Red Roof Inn). Central lobby areas are more difficult to slide people past and if I get a bitchy counter clerk giving me raised eyebrows, I want to avoid that. Red Roof Inn’s setup was nice as I walked in, paid, then we drove to our unit on the other side of the building and unloaded.

Damn. This is starting to look like a championship now. Big marcus coming up. good to see ya comin up too even tho its a 9hr drive for u guys. U know if any other chitown pp going to this or just u guys. l

yes, the big man, the champion, marcus himself will be rollin up to this tourney. you other states better bring your A+ game. I’m also bringing humbag, a real bad ass rog/dud player.

Then theres lil ol me, I play Ken.

Then there might be one other, we are looking for someone else to bring that’s down for the trip.

Damn, GNG Championships is looking better and better. Its nice to be getting more people out to Minnesota to play!

FPStud, how far are you guys from the MWC Venue? I swear when we drove down for MWC it took a little less than 7hours only.

HMMMMM. 9 hour drive there, then a 6 hour drive to Nebraska the day after. I may make this one.

its 7 hours 45 mins from my house. but i’m picking people up and we will probably stop for food or something. it’s not a big deal, i’ve done 19 hours in one session before (last week, lol). i personally don’t care about the drive, it’s the other chicago people who are worried. humbag is a maybe now, but marcus is still confirmed, knock on wood.

my main worry is setups. i really, really hope people bring them. can we get some pictures of venue?

Ill be there. Get hype.

Oh shit. I think milwaukee is coming up. hopefully we can go up there with a lot of ppl.
