Gleam of Force thread

The unbelievably awesome ability to perform a KO on somebody with a slow-mo, zoomed-in headbutt in Fight Night is not present in this game. Dirty hit KOs are so awesome.

This game is somewhat more like a traditional fighting game than Fight Night or VB, yet at the same time there’s really very few other 2D fighters for it to be directly compared to.

Try setting the compatibility settings for it to win2k/NT. For some reason this seems to resolve crashing for a lot of people with French Bread games.

And how do I do that?

Man, knockouts are super satisfying in this game for some reason.

To unlock everything, am I going to have to play arcade mode like a hundred times?

Well remember that if you manage to get down to 50% without hitting your opponent, and you still have enough super arts to perform that attack, then you could really need that much power to even things out.

But if you performed that combo on a character who was also at 50% I don’t think it would deal as much.

Also, Kanae (I call her Tripod Kettle since that’s what her name is translated as according to Babelfish) 's A+B super is just a really fast dash. It’s only good for following the opponent over to the wall once you’ve hit them with an attack that sends them flying. I never use it. Ever.

By the way, if you have trouble setting this game up, download the latest version of Direct X and it should make it a little easier.

Unlockables: Arcade mode is unlocked by beating story mode. Practise mode is unlocked by using each character once in Vs mode. Negai is unlocked by completing Arcade mode with all characters. Higher difficulties are obtained by clearing Arcade mode with Negai.

I don’t know this for fact, but the Trial Version might not support Vista (if you are using that). I do know that the original Full Version did not support Vista.

Damn. I’m running Vista.

God I hate unlocking shit in fighting games.

So am I. I downloaded DirectX latest version and it ran just fine.

You need it to access the 2 gigabyte image ISO.

Did I mention that this game’s filesize is quite huge?

I thought that having to have to unlock Training Mode was one of the most hilarious things a fighting game has ever made me do.

Extract the contents of this file to your game’s SaveData folder (overwriting all your old files). It should unlock everything for you. If it doesn’t, let me know (it’s coming from my own game’s folder).

Yeah it worked. Thanks for that.

It also changed my config and put it into windowed mode, but that’s no big deal. Just saying it for anyone else that downloads it.

As of the second patch (I think), the game supported Vista. Before that patch, it did not. And since the full game didn’t originally support Vista, I’d say that there is a good chance that the trial doesn’t.

im running vista and the game works fine. i didnt have to set any compatibility modes or applocale or w/e. just throwing that out there.

i would suggest playing the full version if you can. how you do that depends on your stance on piracy. if anyone does go and ‘acquire’ it, i would like to know if you can just put in random letters and numbers for the product key since that would (in theory) allow more people to do netplay.

anyways for me boxer = kanae and pilebunker = negai. i actually didnt bother looking at the names of the chars until i played for a bit, and by that time i had already “named” the chars. so i was actually asking about kanae’s towards A+B super, and i guess i was right about it being useless. i use negai’s towards A+B super a lot, since its all sorts of awesome. then again negai in general is awesome.

Kanae’s super has a number of uses. One of them is to follow up hits that you normally wouldn’t be able to follow. e.g. 6B counter hit send opponent flying away horizontally… most characters can’t chase that and follow up for hits, Assault Infight or no. But because Kanae can cancel into 6A+B, she can zoom right to her opponent and continue to combo.

Although it’s way too early for a tier list, I think it’s safe to say that Negai and Ruki will be dominating.

Top tier: C button
Mid tier: B button
Low tier: A button

Lol.

Except when heart break is in effect. Then A button is top tier.

But when Heart Break is in effect, B button is EVEN MORE high tier!!! Increased hitstun -> fatter combos.

GG has taught us that overwhelming damage potential separates the great from the good, and the good from the average, so of course B button is higher tier than A button.

All attacks are useless before the C button, so of course C button is highest tier. C button is HOKUTO SHINKEN’S MUSOU TENSEI. B button is a TENSHOU HONRETSU. A button is Mamiya trying to kill somebody with her yo-yos.

I’d also like to add:
God tier: FINISH HER!!!
High tier: <50% HP
— gradient —
Bottom tier: full HP

I think I should sig this.

Hahaha.

But when in a heart break, the A button can override the B button, and then allow for comboes into B button moves.

Play Ruki, then get the opponent into heartbroak mode and spam her 6A > 8A > jump A > jump B combo. You’ll see what I mean.

But then again, this is Ruki we’re talking about.

Even though Madoi gets the easiest heartbreak in the game
