This.
Also, I encourage everyone to try out Makoto. Even though she may look like a nazi, she’s a lot of fun.

Er yeah, if you want to play this game play it strictly for fun. The game is seriously broke as fuck and is a joke to play somewhat competitively. Look up any video on nico and you’ll most likely find 80/100%s for a great part of the cast on the first page. I don’t expect there to be a patch coming out for it either, so I gave up on it within 2 weeks of the game coming out
what the shit, just because i dont like how the game looks im close minded?
clearly, i dont like how the game looks. do i really need to explain why?
i have my opinion and you have yours, the fuck’s so hard to understand about that?
you act like this quirky, wack-ass animation style is HOLAY SHIT AVANT GARDE and typical or “textbook” stuff is OH SO BORING. You may not know this about textbooks (protip: read one!), but the stuff written in a textbook, for the most part, IS PROVEN TO WORK.
the character animation in this game looks jerky and low quality. yeah i know its a ‘paper doll’ style or w/e but if you have to explain that “paper doll animation of this quality is very tricky to do correctly” when people (NOT JUST ME HUR HUR) say
guess what…puppet style animation is NOT the best choice for this game! its like punishing a blocked fierce dragon punch with walk up jab…sure its better than nothing but you could do so much better.
The characters are drawn in a way that suggest they would be animated the “textbook anime style” (you know, like FLUIDLY), so when i see jerky overy simplistic animations i react the same way as if i saw that shit in an anime: “damn, that looks horrible.”
Not all the animation is like that, the girl with the red boxing gloves and the ponytail looks decent. but then you look at the brown haired chick with the gray pants (leotards?) and you wonder how the fuck someone thought looked good.
so yeah. it does look like a flash game.
im just saying its visually unappealing. im not even making a judgement on the quality of the game. for all i know it could be the most fun thing to do next to fapping to /d/ while eating chocolate covered bacon. a lot of things look like shit but are actually really good inside, kinda like the fat hooker with a heart of gold or something. melty blood sprites looks like ass and that game still manages to be fun.
Um…Jerky animations?
The puppet style means that the animations are 100% fluid and animated at 60fps, as opposed to the frame-by-frame animation used for traditional 2D animation. What on earth are you talking about?
Youtube videos cannot do the fluidity of this game justice.
Do you have the latest version?
I dare you to find a 100% combo when you’ll have trouble landing all those hits before the limiter kicks in, and try landing those on an opponent who’s using resists and ukemi. You won’t. At most, you’ll get in about 6 strong moves on an opponent using type A resist and it won’t even deal too much damage due to scaling. Broke it aint.
Yes, the trial version (which only contained Kanae and Futaba as playable) had 100% combos. However, all of that was finely balanced out for the current versions of the game.
Patches are released REGULARLY on French Bread’s website. Currently it is in version 1.0.1.3
What’s more, the defense system (characters get a boost in defense as their health decreases) makes 100% combos impossible.
(Also, Futaba is probably the most poorly animated character in the game, so don’t go judging the rest of the cast based on her. Check out Papeko, Makoto, Ashita and Minami if you want really cool animations)
And yes, this game is really fun once you actually figure out how it works. I expect most fighting game fans will be frustrated with it at first. It took me a long time to get over the fact that you don’t block by holding back, haha. I kept getting smashed for trying to block that way.
watch a video between good players rather than the glitchy trial version vids, please.

Okay, maybe jerky wasn’t the best word to describe it. i meant jerky like being jerked around by invisible strings (LIKE PUPPETS LOL). Maybe “floppy” would have been a better word.
Well in Futaba’s case due to her being a lanky ho, but I find that most of the character animations are fairly solid and have good weight to them despite being originally made using parts tweened in Flash.
It’s different, since in most fighting games, the animation is not done on every frame. In this game, because the parts move by themselves, the characters will seem to move unnaturally smooth.
I don’t know, I find it charming, but I guess I can understand why some people don’t like it.
However, I strongly believe that a game shouldn’t be judged and passed off as crap just because of the art style. (and I do like the art style.)
…
(well so long as the game isn’t Cho Aniki)
^ hmmm just out of curiosity why did the interest die out? everyone in the thread is like “this is fun!” “$10 yay!”. i was thinking about getting it to curb my arcade spending but then id have another weird game nobody knows about
On topic:
i personally think the sisters kanae and negai? are the best animated.
negai has pilebunker, thats cool
believe it or not, i actually have the game.
Negai is pretty well animated, but I think she’s broken almost to the degree of being rude.
that shit needs to be toned down, seriously.
It’s very nice that they nerfed her a bit in recent patches, but she’s still way too fast, safe and powerful.
I was playing on the version that had all of the characters, I didn’t even know there was a trial version. Even so, I last played the game about a month or so back, so it may have redeemed itself. With that said, I still don’t think it’ll catch on to be very popular even if it gets balanced well
Yeah, you don’t have the latest version. It’s gone and balanced itself out way more than when the first version was released. Give it a chance. I really hope it becomes popular because it’s a great game and it deserves a competitive scene.
I’m going to give it a chance. Why? Because I’m the lurker that plays all the doujin games.
Though I don’t want to link to a thread that contains piracy discussion, a thread at the ******* forums contains a large amount of technical information about the game, including a writeup I made about the game systems and various notes about it. I also don’t want to link people to pirate links for it because it can be purchased at very reasonable prices from places like paletweb, and it’s illegal on here. (EDITED to remove name of website, no, don’t PM me, I fear the ban+lock).
I personally think it’s my favourite fighting game of the year, because it is full of new and interesting ideas. It’s a game built with high-damage in mind, where rounds can end VERY quickly… this is somewhat off-setting to some, who see a single hit take off Samurai Shodown levels of life, but I think it’s great. It’s a revisiting to their previous game Glove on Fight, except with a ton more polish and improvement in terms of… well, everything, except Hajime no Ippo references, they ditched a lot of those.
Here’s what I wrote about it… there’s more I haven’t yet said in it (like combos for characters, complete movelists, etc.) because frankly, there’s just a lot to say, but I’ve covered most all the bases about how the game works. There are a few mistakes in it that I haven’t gotten around to correcting yet, though.

Yay, people are showing interest in this game!
The only thing I don’t like is that you need a joystick to play online!
And I also explained what type A and type B resists do earlier on in the thread, so you might want to add that to your guide (which is really good, by the way!)
Resisting properly takes a LOT of brokenness out of the game, reducing damage output across the board and nerfing otherwise evil combos.
Only thing is, it makes it kind of hard to get B&B combos for each character, since whether a combo works or not entirely depends on how many hits your opponent manages to resist properly and what type of resist they’re using.
this game is actually pretty fun. i just played it for a bit
i only play the boxing chick (little sister, didnt get the PILEBUNKER one yet) because i like boxing and shes the one with the best animation out of the cast.
although i dont understand it completely yet, i like the dodge/block thing
from my limited play, i like how you cant really mash in the game since youre gonna get hit hard. i still mash though CUZ THATS HOW I ROLL
i dont know how competitive it is but its pretty damn fun while not being completely mindless. and when you really think about it, fun > everything else.
the sound is well done
visually, i still think the game looks like a flash game, but its like one of those top tier really good flash games. everything is really high res. animation wise, the gymnast chick, sword chick, and judo chick have the worst animations, everyone else is more or less ok. i still think the game would look 98203840923x better if everything was animated like other games but if SFHD is any indication maybe doing high res sprites is harder than it looks so im not going to harp on that anymore.
i dont think this game is going to be that popular though because the game guys managed to put the worst videos possible on the main site to advertise their game so im pretty sure that killed a lot of hype right there. i probably wouldnt have it either if i didnt like boxing and french bread/wonky doujin games.
Well that’s good to hear. I’ve been playing it with my friend for a while now and I think it has loads of competitive potential.
I just wish they’d realise that Negai (pilebunker) needs to be nerfed, and Papeko (sock puppet girl) needs a huge buff.
By the way, it’s not a loli fighter. In the manual, there’s a disclaimer saying that all the girls in this game are over 18 laughs believe it?
Yes, the game can be described as dodge/punish to some extent. It is very defensive-based. However, offence can be force through the use of infight. Infight is very much key to pressuring an opponent who thinks they can sit back and block a lot.
One thing I absolutely love about gleam of Force is that just about every move, even the slowest attacks, are able to hit the opponent at some stage. Counterhits stun the opponent for a long time, AND Speed up your character for a brief moment, allowing you to fully charge your massive gut punch attack.
And the reason why this game isn’t animated normally is because it actually isn’t done with sprites. Each part of the character’s body is a separate moving piece. This allows for the animations to be sped up and slowed down much easier, rather than simply skipping frames.
Try parrying an opponent’s strong attack and then immidately use a strong attack of your own. Do you see how much faster and smoother your attack becomes?
Well there goes my fantasy of 14 year old girls beating the shit outta each other.
How is the netplay? I read that 1.0.1.3 (or whatever it is) fixed the netplay. Since I’ve never played the game, I don’t know what needed fixing. So, how is it?
theyre only over 18 if you want them to be
That’s a pretty old topic. Even the one I initially created in other games died out pretty fast. Even the Xbox live matchmaking thread I made only started getting posts recently.
