I remember at a Birthday party last year at my house that we were all playing Soul Calibur 2. I picked Link and killed 3 people in a row, one was a perfect too. So then I switched to Talim and killed 8 more people in a row before just walking away. Most of the people there never even played the game more than a few times, so they were all button mashers. If you know how to block and counter, button mashers are doomed.

i knew a pretty decent looking gal in HK who got third in a tournament held at the early reload days. She used dizzy and would abuse the friggin unblockable glitch quite a bit, and she hammered me back then >< But nah, i haven’t seen THAT many chics playing the game.

The only female I seen in the arcade was my little sister, when I took her to play SC2. I played her all the time at home, so even though she doesnt really know anything about fighting games, she knew how to hold are own, without mashin or spammin… I remember when she went up there, the guy was like… “you have this game at home little girl?” She picked Talim and sat him down with the speed… Then she beat the next 2 guys that came up. I was so proud :sad:

I saw an amazing bridget, a good testament, and a good order sol when I was in Japan this summer.
Seriously, character appeal can draw in people, especially girls. My sisters like the characters in GG “appeal wise” moreso than they like the SF cast. Take for example someone like Ky Kiske, young, straight yet slightly messy hair, his white and blue uniform, he’s got a slender build, pretty boy, that’s like chick magnet personified. Let’s take Ryu…white gi, bare foot, red gloves, red bandana, heavily muscled, always looking serious…most girls just go “okay”.
Character appeal does matter to some extent, in some cases for some people, alot. I mean, just look at KoF, you have flocks of girls loving that series because of guys like Iori, Kyo etc, then in Tekken you have Jin fan’s, or in many cases, Lee as well. It’s just how it goes I guess, I’m not saying this is the “truth” but in some if not many cases, this is one of the reasons.
