If Ivan Reitman is back taking control I’ll be up for a new Ghostbusters. Keep Amy Pascal and Paul Feig away.
One day, I hope people wake up and realize that films like Ghostbusters and Robocop were once-in-a-lifetime films that don’t need sequels and remakes because they were fucking perfect storms that can’t be reproduced.
If they were done in one films that would be fine but the films you mentioned became franchises. Ghostbusters has more quality products than just the original film to it’s name. It had a great cartoon, the 2009 video game and IDW comics. The property has legs.
Amy Pascal has already been confirmed to be apart of the project.
None of the Ghostbusters news coming from comic-con I’m reading about his her name attached. Ninja Turtles mash-up toys, an animated movie told from the perspective of the ghosts. Not seeing Amy attached to any of this.
I’ll watch a sequel of the last ghost busters.

I actually think that the Robocop reboot was good.
The new ghostbusters just needed the people acting to write the script. I’ve gone over this already so I wont repeat it.

As as long as they’re not screwing over the Ghostbusters IDW Ongoing Series crew, and letting them do their thing with the franchise, I’m good!!
Though they need give that crew more exposure for the casuals.
(Alternately, it needed the script to be written by people not from SNL because that show is pretty much never funny and none of the movies derived from it have ever been good as well as not be touched by an incompetent, sexist director so heavily tied to Melissa McCarthy he might as well be her third ass-cheek.)
Ugh. A new animated movie could be good so long as the above people and Amy Pascal stay the fuck away from it, but I have my doubts even then unfortunately at this point given how difficult it is for Sony’s movie division to apparently be competent.
Either way, I had futilely hoped that they could have at least pretended to have the decency to stay away from trying to posthumously involve Harold Ramis. It’s bad enough that they already basically blackmailed all of the old cast save for Dan Aykroyd’s unfortunately crazy ass into the last movie, though I suppose that was just another sign of how little respect that they have for people in general, living or not.
I never bought into “don’t speak ill of the dead”, but I have to ask whatever happened to “let the dead lie”. [Insert ghost-related joke here.]

The problem with the 2016 Ghostbusters movie wasn’t the SNL cast. It was whoever decided to let every fucking background character overshadow every scene. Go watch the original Ghostbusters, and check out the various background character. Slightly snooty hotel owner, old guy worried about getting elevator with 4 guys wearing fancy gadgets, mayor and his aide, and so on. Then go watch the new one, and watch how every background character has to stand out. Crazy haunted house tour guides, MadTV Stuart screaming like a little girl while owning a death metal club, wild and zany mayor’s aide.
The only people who needed to be getting laughs were the Ghostbusters. Everybody else SHOULD have been depicted as a normal person, not the star of their own movie.
