lmfao bnc usually is the most chill person when he reviews movies even ones that are fuckin retarded or ruin his childhood franchises. but the internet broke him lmfao

I died at the Chris Hemsworth part!!
LOL!! XD

I just saw it.

Let me preface this post by saying Im only a causal GB fan.

I’ve seen the first two live action movies, and the 1986 RGB cartoon.

Pros:

Kate McKinnon as Holtzman. Cool character with eccentric yet funny mannerisms.

Some of the ghosts had cool designs like the “rock and roll” demon

The new special weapons

some jokes worked.

Cons

Like GB2, it feels like a copy/paste type of script in terms of the plot.

Not really scary at any point in the film.

Music was blah.

Villian was cringeworthy. It seems you were supposed to feel sorry for him , yet he came off creepy and standoffish. His final battle form was cliche. Even Gozer and Vigo had interesting design elements even if they were just malevolent entities.

Chris Hemsworth’s character seemed too much of a try hard and should have been pulled back in terms of his stupidity.

the cameos from the classic GB actors were stupid imo.

While Leslie Jones wasnt intolerable, her “cliche Will Smith 90’s lines” dragged.

Mccarthy and Wiig are diet versions are of Ray and Venkman. I have little opinion-good or bad about them.

Overall: Its not the worst thing ever, nor is it awesome. It’s destiny is to be forgotten in 3 months.

Grade: 6/10

Ranking: GB (1984) 9/10
GB 2 7/10
GB (2016) 6/10

The Atlantic’s review of this movie made me sad for the magazine. It was an obvious political piece.

Very very very interesting stuff here.

Caught it last night…
I’m definitely in the same boat as Andre The Black Nerd and Dangerous J.

I’m giving it a solid 7/10. As long time Ghost-Head, I was entertained and satisfied.

THE “BASED-NESS” WAS STRONG WITHIN, HOLTZMAN!!

I know I gave BvS the same rating, though there was a huge ass, glaring negative that I had for that movie…LEX FLIPPIN’ LUTHOR!!
Ghostbusters 2016, I have virtually none that are that major.
Just that I felt that this should have been tied to the original universe and the CGI!!
The villain just taking a page from Ivo Shandor from the '09 game, and ascending to power without the intimidating lore!!

My hopes and wishes for the Ghostbusters franchise, properly bring in either version of Kylie Griffin:

And Melanie Ortiz:

to the big screen!!

And give the IDW Comic series an animated series and/or an video game!!

It was obvious that Feig wanted this to be his thing which is why no ties to any established characters. So much agenda pushing…

2 more reviews.

The movie apparantly has made 3 million so far and is estimated to make between 40 to 50 million. The budget is roughly 180 million (not counting promotional materials I think) so we’ll see how this does as more reviews and public opinions roll in.

My bad when I copied the link it was still on the fucking commercial and I guess copied the ad’s URL instead…first time that’s happened.

Just sat down in the theater. Fuck yes, I’m excited!

(3 hours later and still no review from you despite your excitement?)

I’m beginning to think that chadouken!'s face became stuck in the Doc Brown position that he’s currently using as his avatar.

Then again, he did like even Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor in Batman v. Superman, so who knows–he might just be busy.

Ha at the phrasing of McCarthy being a “diet” version of anything. [/because she’s fat]

I didn’t want to double post. But yeah, I enjoyed it! Definitely not nearly as good as the original, and it got kinda stupid near the end. But it was worth the price of admission to see it on the big screen. Fun characters and a lot of laughs, especially the references to the original.

Spoiler

Books don’t fly!

There were also some good jokes referencing the whole “women can’t be Ghostbusters” thing that made it seem self-aware- I thought those were pretty funny and well-placed. Overall it was just a fun movie and I had a good time watching it.

I give it a solid 7/10, but I can definitely see why folks, especially purists, wouldn’t like it as much.

Chad, why do you have this sickening fascination for shit?

this movie eats dogshi t.

Man, I’m just not as critical as you guys, I guess. I value good movies, and I value fun movies to watch in the theater, for different reasons. None of these stupid DC/Marvel/Star Wars movies are going to be anywhere close to the quality of something by Scorcese or the Cohen Brothers, Oliver Stone or Kubrick, or Sergio Leone or early Spielberg. Those directors, and others I didn’t list, have a special talent most can’t come close to achieving. It’s a rare thing to have a perfect script, actors, director, music composer, editor, etc. come together to make a great film, especially when we’re flooded with so many big “blockbusters” these days.

But I still enjoy the spectacle of seeing something light and fun on the big screen. I enjoy going to the theater. My fiancee and I went out and had a good time tonight. I’m probably not going to go out and purchase this new Ghostbusters, but I’m not going to hate on it, because it was fun and I had a good time watching it.

That said, there are movies out there that are complete shit. The first Transformers was fun, but even that, and everything after it, were pretty bad. I don’t think I’ll even rent the new Independence Day it looks so terrible.

I’m not really going to defend myself anymore about it. Judging by the way this thread is going, most people here had their minds made up before the reviews even came out. And I guess I’m guilty there, too. But part of that was just trolling for LOLs.

you saw it?

Considering your review track record, you’ll give that movie a 6/10 AT LEAST.

No I won’t because, as I just said, I don’t plan on watching it at all.

Um but why?

Didn’t you just say that you aren’t that critical of movies and blah blah blah but you wont even see this popcorn movie?

Not interested. Didn’t like the first one very much. Liked Ghostbusters. Was interested. Blah blah blah.
