GGXX #reno-crew

What would the best possible arcade be in Reno, if you could have anything (reasonable) for it? Please take this seriously.

EDIT: Please include your thoughts on location, size, game types, how many machines, tokens/quarters, all bases covered in your post. Just pretend you’re opening up your own place.

I dunno, besides the popular games being in it, hmm, location (how to get there, how far it is, is there enough parking), how close it is to an eatery (if people are hungry and wants variety of food), friendly and awesome staff that are willing to go out of their way to help everyone out, clean ('nough said), organized, and a huge space. I think that’s what makes an arcade the best in my book.

JP

I think Circus Circus but with the machines less cramped together would be the best. Can’t beat that location.

All the arcades need to order their Tekken 5 cabinets. The great thing about Tekken 5 is that Namco makes the cabinet, so you can probably assume that the Joystick won’t fall off of it.

Some arcade should try to get a weeknight thing going. Like half price night on tuesdays or something.

THANK FUCKING GOD!

And JC is right…if you don’t have anything nice to say, post on SRK.

Circus Circus has the location, and eatery’s. But they don’t have the staff and the space that I mentioned. It’s not there, seeing they also don’t have some of the games on the property (XX is there, but that’s it).

P.S. 90% of the posts here in this thread is filled with non-sense, when something interesting finally comes up, it’s still ignored and the non-sense continues. Sorry, but if you look at it closely, the last 2 threads, that’s what happens.

Totaly. People just ignored that funny ass livejournal link I posted. Anyhoo

It looks like Florida and the arcade denizens of Reno will have something in common soon. Both gonna get owned by ivan. trailer parks = nerdpussys

As far as location goes… Downtown is where the majority of tourist comes so that is definatly a plus. If not… somewhere near UNR or major Highschool / Middle School. You gotta target the right groups… I think arcades are usually good for Tourist or students anywhere from Middle school-college.

Biggest challenge is to have it not be too far for even the locals to attend. Parking is also important… I think going to an arcade w/o much parking can hurt business.

Quarters should be used IMO rather than Tokens… although u can do a lot more in terms for promotion and discounts… it seems that players are taking tokens from one place and using them in another and that might hurt a new arcade. The downfall for having a new size tokens… is that players will not look favorably to tokens that are not useable in other locations since they have already been accustom to being able to use them in any casinos.

As far as the arcade itself. I think it should be big enough to be an arcade / and internet cafe / and a console cafe all in one.

Arcade games should have the latest and greatest… if its close to bars etc… then having Golden Tee / Touch screens games / Pool Table / Fooseball (sp?) etc… should also be considered.

Just some input.

No, that shit was really funny, I just didn’t have anything to say. It’s above anybody that reads this thread anyway

Arcades, eh? Bemani games go in a sound-proof firing chamber and no DDR…in fact, forget it, no fucking Bemani except for Mambo Agogo. Secondly, I’m over 21, so where the fuck are my cocktail waitresses? Free water would be nice. Memberships that had actual rewards would be nice, also. Get some mother fuckin’ ionic breezes up in there to clear out the scent of stagnent ass-sweat when Paul stands up after a 25 win streak.

Oh yeah…and the best arcade has to have those dope new convertible controls that go from joystick to hole in five seconds.

I like playing with my nuts when they’re hangin low and floppy. I flick em hard when they’re tight and bunched up to loosen em up, yeah!

Yeah. Thanks for contributing to the discussion, Nick.

Well i think circus circus has the location…they just dont have the drive to keep the players happy. Atlantis has a crap tactular local but they have the locals happy(atleast im happy).

On terms of what games…its a no brainer bring in the kids with lots of extra cash to spend…and thats those ricer kids who think he coffee can exaust and a Nos sticker increase your horse power.

Fighting games, if you had all the ones everyone lies to play, would make alot of money. We could more a 3d fighter player base cause soul calibur is ghey, T5 this month or ext month whatever…needs to be at atlantis, that game is so tight.

TITTASSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

If Silver Legacy get’s a Tekken 5 machine they will probably become the best arcade in town. It’s got the location and it is roomy. A new tekken 5 cabinet will start with good controls and should keep them for at least a little while with no management involvement. And even when they get hosed the PS2 controller ports will be there. I don’t think management support for tournaments is important. Reno had like one tournament on console throughout several years of Tekken. Didn’t mean the scene wasn’t healthy.

How many of you guys will be willing to move over to Tekken 5? How many will want to stick with GGXX?

Tekken 5 will have a Namco sponsored national tournament, and it stands to reason there will be a lot more comp for it than GGXX. (At least more comp on a national/tournaments/getting recognition way rather than localy where GGXX>All right now. But you guys are playing for the recognition right?) How many arcades in america have GGXX?

If someplace other than Atlantis gets Tekken 5 playing both might not be an easy option anymore. I kinda hope a bunch of arcades get it so you can roam around and play different people, but that probably isn’t too realistic.

Gary, you know every casino will get T5. It’s a pretty looking graphic game! Every place has either a SC2 (nugget, cc, atlantis) or a T4 (cc, hilton, random!) so I’m not too worried about T5; it’ll be good anywhere, since we can bring our own controllers.

And in all honesty, a great place other then the Atlantis is Silver Legacy; it has Initial D, (soon to be) T5 and CvS2 with really good controls when they feel like working. Not bad at all! Initial D is my biggest draw, however. :hcf: :uf: :u: :ub:

Paul, do you have XBox Live already?

I can’t really see what the attraction of Initial D is. With live you can get racing competition against as many at 16 people at a time depending on which game you are playing. 16 is the max, but 8 is a fairly common occurence. Seems much better than just head to head.

And live is so much cheaper than Initial D.

I think Street Racing Syndicate has car customization and racing for pink slips, but has gotten mixed reviews. Forza will be the next big racing game and will have customization.

SRS is ok…my friend koo has it…and there is a cheat for the skyline so its pretty ghey…everyone online has a skyline and thats it

Initial D is just fun because it’s competitive, and you can get a bad-ass looking car and shit. But like JC said, alot of online games have problems with balance and whatnot; while Initial D has this, it also has that tense arcade vibe to it that I love. Oh, and beating ricing faggots who think they’re all that is pretty dope too.

I’m going to this one, yay. One thing that’s bugging me though is…

, our?? wha?? . Also, about Initial D. It’s really tight, even though most cars have “HUGE!” advantages over certain cars on certain tracks. My suggestion is, if people counter course you (like those fags at the Hilton), leave boost on. Actually…LEAVE BOOST ON AT ALL TIMES, I don’t get who came up with this general rule that “oh you can’t race without this feature cause it’s really gay”. Play the game right, maybe people will finally learn how to play the game correctly and not be dependant on what your level is or how good your car is on a certain track or how familiarized you are on a given track.

JP

I love Initial D, I just hate “fishing” faggots, or people who strictly play 2 courses, and turn off challenges after they’ve beaten you on it. Prime examples of this was last night, that little Evo4 fag who played Irohazaka after I fucking destroyed (destroyed as in over 200+ advantage. =/ Where’s your skill now, pussy?) on Tsuchizaka Wet Outbound. Next time, boost on bitches. I’ll just block you like my RX-8’s in park.

hey paul i think campbell forgot his phone in your car…and i forgot the brackets in your back seat

nah i got it.
