Let’s take a look at that awesome “Slayer” forum you’re suggesting I visit to help “vary my offense”… Here’s the front page!
-SLAYER SCRUB TRIES TO HELP, by LB.
-SLAYER QUICK LINKS, which are a bunch of broken, outdated links.
-JUST STARTING USING SLAYER ANY TIPS???, totally useless to me.
-#R SLAYER VIDS, totally useless as there are no actual MATCH VIDEOS, but just bullshit boring combo videos.
-SLAYER’S TIER IN GGXX… another waste of time.
-CAN YOU GET OUT OF BITE LOOP?.. No comment.
And like Hah Coe said… Did you even go to EVO? Cue got like top 20 throwing out random d-step attacks. He almost beat ruiN- with that. So… how is it NOT god-like!? I got eliminated by a Chipp trying to play range and all this other shit… might as well have mashed or something.
Can’t tell if you’re natually being an ass or if that’s the internet’s inability to convey one’s tone of voice.
I don’t look at those threads and don’t post here often really. Looking at those threads now… yea, they’re not that great. Perhaps you’d be able to create one of value on 6p’s importance of anti air against dizzy?
No I didn’t go to evolution. I didn’t request time off from work nor did i want to pay the money to fly out there shrug sorry.
Stop being an ass and just come to MWC and we’ll just play, you too cue. If the dude is having problems with dizzy, I would assume random D-steps and 6p on anti air are not the answer. I’ll demonstrate that to you if you wish.
Getting this thread back someplace useful!
It may just be that I don’t play any Really solid Potemkin players, but I’ve found that forcing Pot to block a j.D into cape puts slayer at a rather advantageous distance. It might just be me though, as my Potemkin opponents don’t Pot Buster very often. I like to assume it’s because I keep my spacing solid, but it’s probably just them. Anyone wanna test this to see if it should be working as well as it does? Also, the biggest problem I was having with dizzy was her 5S it just reamed me at every opportunity. I’ve started getting out of the way now though, as I’ve started D-stepping Randomly as opposed to Repeatedly (very different terms, apparently) also, landing the cape as a crossup is pretty awesome against Dizzy, as she seems to have some difficulties with really fast advances when she doesn’t already have cover set up.
but u dont play slayer anymore so why does it matter heheh.
me and Lb had a convo waaaay back in the day and i told him that discussing slayer in forums gets people close to nowhere, after that he conviced me to start posting more… now i see that things are the same as always everyone having different ideas on how to play him, so its a waste of time, i wonder why that guy hasnt posted after mwc btw , maybe he got to play cue =X hahaha.
Even if it seems absolutely pointless, people do read posts, and exchange ideas, and it is appreciated in most cases. Reguardless of the outcome, it’s still enjoyable to talk about strategy. And who knows, there may be some things that a person didn’t really even think of or consider trying. And there’s even a possability of converting a person over to a new character.
Plus, it’s good to hear strategies and opinions from other parts of the world. I’ve never had a match against you, so it’s good to read your posts at times, to get your view on things.
Posting tricks, glitches, and combos can also contribute to people who are just starting out, and can’t really download/view a mass quantity of match videos. And there’s the possibility of contributing to a combo video.
There’s actually quite a few lurkers on SRK that sift through the strategy sections without actually registering/posting, too.
I lurked for almost a year. I dunno, many people are afraid to come forward because they feel newbish and inadequate, and above all don’t want to be ridiculed for not being as good as the elite who post here. I went to Evo2k4 as a spectator because I love watching fighting games, but didn’t compete because I felt I wasn’t good enough. However, even though I sucked, one of the best experiences was playing against Xenotiger and Kugler in casual at the arcade downstairs, even if it was just with my scrub Sol. When I asked the Slayer player’s name and he shook my hand and said Paul Kugler, I was like 0_0. Kugler asked for my name, but I was flustered and unconsciously brushed it off by saying something along the lines of, “I don’t have a handle and I’m not competing at Evo and I’m just watching and I’ll just scurry off now, sorry for wasting your time.” What I wish I would have done Sunday morning was say, “Hey, I’m Art. Thanks for the games.” Because, really, by playing us scrubs, and posting their findings for everyone, including scrubs, to read, ponder, and discuss helps everyone get better. As a result, more people can contribute, and more people conversing means a larger, stronger community. So I guess what I’m saying is don’t ever stop posting, shadowcharlie. Posting does accomplish something. Oh, and “Hey Paul, I’m Art. Thanks for the games.” I will make every effort to compete in the next Evo.
What I find annoying is that people in my area(east Canada: Quebec) that I know really aren’t into fighting games. All they play is mostly Shooters(Counter-Strike/UT2k3/Call of Duty), Warcraft3 or RPGs. And I play fighting games and Starcraft. Although I do like shooters alot(Half-Life mods rock) I feel that they can’t be competitive enough to go play some Street Fighter(with exceptions) to some decent level. Those people want instant fun with a game that fast to learn. Therefore I doomed posting here like a moron playing cpu until I can get high-speed to play kaillera. I do find what people say quite interesting, whatever it is.
k guys i nead some sol vs testament help any tips for the sol players? the second best in my state uses him like a god and i nead some tips to play against him? im thinking like gunflame his nets and try not to get caught in the air by testament. and upper all day but i nead help on this thanks
Knock Testament down then rush him down. Gunflame FRC can also start the rush, since it clears nets (not trees). Once he’s on the defensive, it’s hard for him to turn the tables. Bait bursts and dead angle attacks when he has 50% tension. When he’s out of meter and burst, his ass should be yours.
If Testament is pressuring you with Barney FRC 2K- or 6P-stuff, you can viper out after block-stun from Barney wears off, or you can just wait until he uses up his tension while blocking correctly (I know, easier said than done).
If you can consistently do reversal uppercuts, Testament has to be cautious with his 50/50 okizeme. If he knocks you down for the first time, lays a net and tries to 2K or 6P and you uppercut him, “once burned, twice shy” as they say. If he ever knocks you down a second time, I can guarantee he will lay a net and try to bait out a viper.
j.P destroys nets, but watch out for trees by FDing while landing.
Um, in #R Testament will probably just skull you after 2D. I don’t have experience playing against #R Testament, so I can’t comment much on how this changes things. I imagine if Sol just keeps coming at Testament, eventually he’ll be on the ground and in the corner. And from there, it’s all an uphill battle for Testament.
Nets limit her air mobility, and Barney can reach Dizzy across the screen. I’d say stay in the air a lot, lay nets, and summon Barney. Call Barney when she summons fish or spear. Use j.D when she tries to air dash through your nets with j.P. Poison counter against projectiles is funny but high risk. It will probably work if you only use it once in while.
EXE Beast FRC starts off your attack. When you knock her down, go into standard 50/50 rushdown mode - net, 2K or 6P, Gravedigger loops if she blocked wrong, pressure into EXE Beast FRC if she blocked right. Dizzy has the same problem Testament has - once you’re getting rushed down, nothing much to do except block right if you don’t have burst or DAA. Someone more experienced with this matchup should answer, though.
thanks alot man that hella helps i tried most of it and THE SHIT WORKS WHY DIN I THINK OF MOST OF THIS SHIT!?!? aight unsmart u smart a$$ how do u beat a REALLY GOOD may with sol?thanks for the help man
It depends. I’ve been playing against a really good May player for a while. May’s gameplan isn’t as defined or as straightforward as Testament’s IMO. She can do some crazy shit. What’s she doing?
Just to add to Unsmart’s comment about Sol vs Testament note that ground viper goes under his far standing slash, his cr. S and his st. HS. ground viper and volcanic viper own testies
Dizzy’s 2D doesn’t clear trees, the only thing that clears trees is landing a hit on Testament or going over the trees (in air or on ground). Any kind of hit, burst, DA, throw, or knockdown will clear all trees that Testament has planted. The exception to that is the big trees he gets from Master of Puppets, those have to be crossed over unless you hit testament while he plants it.
A few characters can run over the trees without getting hit (sol, chipp, millia?, etc), and if you have a cocky testament that likes to hide on or near his trees, once in a while you can run in and throw him. He might be chilling by his trees thinking he’s got immunity when you attack and get countered or block, but just throw his ass and the invincibility on the throw will take good care of you.
one more thing on testament: just don’t get knocked down, his rushdown mix-ups are way too difficult to accurately block 100%. Play the match safe and keep him locked down.
