What he said. I find the way better VS players to be on GGPO, with the exception of JedahsMinistry (I miss that bee ). I think that the best players are on GGPO, and I trust this program enough to use it religiously. Ponder is adding an ignore feature with the next build (currently in beta) and he’s trying to bring back the dojo. As far as games go, Ponder has said in the past that it’d be no problem adding more games. So if that’s what you want…why not ask? If he gets more people, then I’m sure he’d add them.
It seemed to me that 2DF was less laggy, less glitchy, and easier to play on in general. I’ll probably try GGPO again sometime, but at least for now 2DF works fine.
That’s an incredibly broad over generalization, especially for a game that has single digit populations on both services. ST has great comp (me, brian, DGV, sana, professor jones, enigma mount, to name a few), with 50+ players in the room at peak. 3S has great comp, with 100+ players. Some of the KOF games have great comp with 50+ players. You aren’t qualified to make these statements when you spend every day on GGPO, yet sign on 2DF for an hour once a month. Of course you are bound to run into better competition given those odds.
there needs to be a mod in this section to make a sticky of not creating “ggpo vs 2df” threads
Yeah but I dont have a high end machine, so the frameskip fucks with me
Speaking from my perspective, Damdai, where NO ONE plays Vampire Savior on 2DF, I’d say I’m highly Qualified to make that statement. My question to you is, have you ever had any professional players on ST? GGPO can boast the Wolfe Brothers, Afro Legends, Jason Wilson, Jason Cole, Alex Valle…
2DF is a good service and I’m not trying to knock it, but I just prefer GGPO over it.
Jason Cole and Alex Valle played a while ago, but back then when 2DF was still in its infancy and there weren’t many people to play. Now the numbers are about on par with GGPO, but for many of those players, it was a chicken/egg scenario. Now that they are in 1 place, there is no need for them to move. But the argument wasn’t about whether 2DF had professionals, it was whether it had good competition, which it does.
I think there’s enough information here for people who are interested and the thread is starting to turn nasty, so it is now hereby closed.
