we need a duplicate thread on capcom unity so they can make their voices heard over there as well. Might as well get everyone in on it.

I’ve already received a few confirmations about interviews on net play. So I can get the ball rolling on that soon once I come up with some solid questions.

I have nothing against using GGPO for MvC3, but I’d really like to know how it’d work with this game? I know this sounds like a vague question, but I’m under the impression that GGPO works better with 2D graphical games ^_^;

3d fps games use a form of rollback ggpo style netcode, there is NO input lag for games like counter strike 1.6\source, COD, quake live which are 3d games. Capcom is full of shit seeing as how other 3d games use 0 input lag while playing onine.

To my knowledge, this type of roll back netcode goes back to CS 1.5-1.6 which is roughly 01-02 so roughly 9 years ago, the online FPS scene was using a no input lag based netcode. If it goes further than 01-02, it is past my EXP as counter strike was the first game I played online to be actually good.

the faster that a duplicate thread for this topic is posted @ capcom unity, the better IMO.

Seth said a while ago that the other features in the game including online were in development. This was months ago.

Again, not to be debbie downer but what makes you guys think that there is some magical hierarchy in game development that says the online component starts after and only after the roster is complete and everything else is done?

even if mvc3 has bobo netcode, no future games will have better netcode w\o complaining about it now and who knows, maybe they programmed mvc3 different than ssf4 so when mvc3 v.2 comes out, ggpo or rollback net style can be implemented over the current one.

I just dont understand SRK’s mentality when it comes to petitions on games already in development. Its one thing if they ask for feedback, but im pretty sure if they havent already had plans to implement GGPO in the online discussion then they arent suddenly going to scrap what they have because you guys want GGPO.

Especially if that would conflict with it being released 1Q 2011.

I stay right in the vicinity of Final Round so I never really had intentions to play the bulk of this game online anyhow.

Well, way I see it, its better they know what we want mid dev then not know about it at all. That way, they can start thinking about downloadables updates and such to the code to make things run better based on our requests. Not entirely sure how it would work, but hey, better than nothing.
