It would appear that GGPO.net is alive again.

Interestingly enough, I found a post on the forums just before the crash that was from a member called Futuresky-Fans-B (http://ggpo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2847)

I did a search on the alias “Futuresky-Fans-B” and came up with this interesting page:

Awesome! Gonna get some games in now. That post and that site look dodgey…I’m not sure but it looked like Futuresky-Fans-B has multiple accounts and if there were more like him…they could have organized a denial of service attack.
