I’m thinking Tokido doesn’t fight too many Deejays.
Very Nice.
this guy knows how to stay in Guile’s face.
Kitasenju VS an Ibuki player. Nice use of cr. mp for wiff punishing and following into big damage.
I love watching Kitasenju. He’s got to be one of the most solid DeeJay players out there.
Also, Ibuki’s theme is awesome.
KitasenjuDJ is Strongest Deejey in Japan
Ebihara is strongest Ibuki in Japan

Hey everyone, I’m a long time Dee Jay main from Nor Cal. I just recently played in some local tournaments. Here are a couple of my matches.
Any and all tips are greatly appreciated!
The commentary on those was rough lol.
1st match:
- U1 vs bison. It auto correct punishes ex psycho and you can actually dash U1 devil’s reverse.
- If they do a bunch of devil’s reverse in a row like he was doing at the start, I like to jump knee at them and then land and slide. If they come back in with the hand, slide will beat it. If they don’t you are gaining stage space.
- 0:49 you try to get out of scissor pressure with a light sobat. I’ve found this very rarely works. His corner pressure is often scissor, mk, or hk, and sobat usually loses to those.
- 0:56 that ex upkicks was very panic mode.
- vs that crazy corner pressure jump back knee will beat a scissor if he’s just spamming them. If that works he may follow up a scissor with hk to stop a jump. Slide beats his HK option. Slide can also catch a scissor is he’s spamming them. It’s a bit of a guessing game but it’s the most effective way I’ve found to fight out of bison corner pressure. Aside from those a nicely timed st.jab works wonders to counterhit stuff and it’s the safest thing you can whiff.
- that red focus was awesome. can’t believe he went for a second scissor lmao
2nd match:
- 0:33 that was a nice cr.hp. cr.mk may have been better for a knockdown but cr.hp was good. 300 stun on that counterhit.
- 0:59 what was with the jump forward instant hp. Were you trying to predict a jump? I feel like in both matches you were just kind of doing nj.hp and jump back hp when they were grounded. And you were hitting hp at the apex of the neutral jump which leaves you very open on the way down. Were you just predicting jumps? You got punished for a it a lot in the bison match. It worked out once in the guy match.
- 1:20 thats a safe jump for guy. slide neutral jump. it’s safe even vs ex upkicks. You gotta eat that pressure. Luckily he didn’t punish your reversal.
- 1:38 luckily for you this guy didn’t know how to punish sobats. I’m pretty sure st.mp will punish them from any range you throw them, so generally its a bad idea to use mk and hk sobats in neutral vs guy.
- 3:04 holy crap that ex sobat was so risky
- overall you were super reversal happy vs the guy. I guess it was mostly working though.
- 5:10 unsafe slide from him. Gotta punish those.
- 5:21 you went for the old ToD combo from ST but it doesn’t work in ultra lol. Gotta use cr.mp not cr.hp.
- work on blocking and punishing his running overheads.
Sorry if this post sounds like a blasting, but you asked for advice. I think you play pretty good. Your movement is pretty unpredictable, which is good.

Yeah, I usually stick with U2 for all match ups (except T Hawk). But, I feel like I should be utilizing U1 more.
-
That definitely sounds like a solid answer. I’ll keep it in mind.
-
Okay then, good to know
-
haha
-
Those seem to be much better options than what I usually use against corner lockdown, good stuff
-
Thanks! I figured since I had meter, why not give it a shot…
-
Oh wow, didn’t know it did that much stun on counter hit. I throw it out a lot. cr.hp is one of my go to buttons
-
Yes, those were all failed jump reads.
-
Alright, next time I see that I’ll try to backdash or something.
-
I have a tendency to go for some max range sobats in neutral. I’ll try to stick to just the lk version from now on in this matchup.
-
Yup, I’m pretty sure I was predicting a slide. I was trying to get an early life lead.
-
Agreed
-
For sure, my bad there
-
input error from my end
-
I’m terrible at blocking overheads, it’s definitely something I have to improve on.
Thanks so much for your feedback!
happy to help. i think im wrong on the 300 stun on CH cr.hp. I think its 250. normally its 200, so 250 on counter hit sounds right.
also vs that safejump that guy has, you can try a backdash, but I’m pretty sure option select tastu catches it. it’s worth testing if he knows that though. focus backdash would nullify any OS there.
as for mk and hk sobats vs guy in neutral, it’s risky, but in a 2/3 i suppose it can be worth testing their knowledge of the punish once (early on in the match), since not many people know the deejay match very in depth. he didn’t punish you, so basically you could assume you can use that tool vs him as much as you want. similar with the reversals in that match. If they work, no need to change until the opponent does.

Fuck that was a slick round by Knut. Love the finish, and that whiff punish moments before. Not to mention that R1 comeback.
