hey as long as bandit revolver isn’t done against potemkin haha
j.P will almost always beat BR, unless your character’s j.P isnt that good or you IB’d at least once during the gatling before he does it.
If it’s that easy, then why don’t I see everyone do it? Why do I see free BRs on players in matches all the time? My bet is that spaced properly your j.P will whiff and mean a free hit on you. I’m sorry, I’ve seen this move work, it just has to be used at the right times. I’m not saying you should BR all the time, I’m saying you use it occasionally as a mix up so your offense isn’t completely linear and easy to see through. Gun Flame every time, FRCed or not, will eventually get you killed. That’s my own experience speaking right there.
Did I say it was easy. Just takes practice. Worth going for when you have the chance. You can also airgrab him too.
And anyway - where j.P will ‘whiff’, 6P will hit. I ain’t complaining.
So of course you’re going to guess right every single time and do 6P instead of j.P. Naturally.
I don’t like to insult people’s comp unless it is an area I’m familiar with, but I must cry bullshit on this one. I hope you mean Bandit Bringer which you can jump up and smack.
Sol does a chain into a sweep, then cancels into BR. Sol’s sweep is a level 4 attack meaning it deals 16 frames of guard stun (12 if IBed). So lets say Sol’s slow and doesn’t cancel to BR until 8 frames later. So there are 8 frames of guard stun left (4 if IBed). BR executes in 9 frames. So you recover 1 frame before Sol’s BR is active (5 frames if the sweep was IBed). I’ll assume it takes 1 frame to return to standing, then it takes 3 frames at least to jump (let’s assume we aren’t Slayer, Pot, Johnny, etc). Sol’s BR smacks you when you try to jump unless you IBed. Now if you IBed, you make it off of the ground with 1 frame or so to spare. The fastest air move is 3 frames (Dizzy’s j.K), everyone else’s is 4 (or 5). So it is pretty much physically impossible to IB the sweep, and still have enough time to jump up and smack Sol before BR is hitting you.
Your hope here is to IB and then go into a invulnarale move like a nice 6P. I don’t feel like analyzing the best 6Ps
Basically when I play my shitty Sol, I do a chain and then go into 1 of 3 moves. If I go into BR, I think “I hope they try to jump.” If I go into BB, I think “I hope they sit still.” If I go into GF, I think “I hope they press a button.” I know you can IB in between hits and do cool stuff. But no jumping up and smacking Sol.
ive always wondered about this thing of the bandit revolver. k s hs bandit revolver, i jump back fd the hit that would of knocked me down if i werent… whoes in advantage?
I forget, can you IB and activate your Faultess Defese at the same time?
If so; do the benefits from both stack or does one cancel the other?
Also, can you leave the ground faster after an IB if you SJ?
It depends on which point in the animation the BR hit you and how high you were when you FDed. Air Faultless on a level 3 attack (which is what BR is) induces 18 frames of guard stun. You then have to account for landing time as well as how much more recovery Sol has to go through (depends on where he hit you). Generally though, I’d say it’s character-specific. Assuming Sol lands first, he’ll have advantage unless the character he’s against has very good air-to-ground. If you’re both on the ground you’re probably neutral at best. I dunno, it’s something you’d want to test.
Regarding Bandit Bringer: I honestly almost never use this in strings. The BS leaves you at 0, and in most cases you’re close enough where it basically is a throw/VV mixup, and I really never like those (if they IB, you’re all sorts of fucked). I usually use the move by itself, spaced way out at its maximum range. The hitbox is really awesome and it covers a huge distance, plus if you JI you have a chance for fullscreen loop fun or wacky FRC mixes.
Xenozip.: I’m fairly certain it’s one or the other. FD probably takes precedence if you somehow manage to hit both commands at the same time.
I suggest you practice the air throw and j.P after BR - before I cap it just to prove a point.
BoF: What if I say, FD a hit or 2 and play for the j.P or 6P if I know you’re gonna do the revolver?
[edit] I you haven’t seen BR punishment yet, go watch acho_ggxx_20040620a.wmv. The game was over after the air throw.
I would suggest doing so, seeing as all you have right now is your own word. Cap it and prove us wrong.
50/50 chance that I get a free knockdown on you? I’ll take that. Or I could just FRC Gun Flame your ass. That’s always fun. It IS a mixup game, you know. And how exactly will you KNOW if I’m going to do a Bandit Revolver? I never said do it every time (just occasionally as a mixup), and I did say space it properly. I somehow doubt you’re going to get your j.P/6P/airthrow on me every time I BR, or even often enough to deter me from doing the move in the first place.
EDIT: Watched the vid in question. Saw 3 BRs, one on Eddie and two on Zappa. The one done on Eddie hit him and got a free knockdown. The first one on Zappa was backdashed out of (Zappa has a good backdash). Second one was airthrown because Zappa was cornered and Sol was too close (he probably yomi’d the shit out of the BR). After that, Sol player just got zoned, happens sometimes. The CH Bandit Bringer in the previous round was too good.
this conversation is totally scaring noobs away from what was a topic about getting into the game in the first place. I don’t really have anything to add, I just find it funny
I don’t think the topic was supposed to be that broad.
I think the thread was supposed to originally be about {LBX}Kens own interests, and the thread simply got hijacked along the way.
Also, I consider myself a “noob” to GGX2, and I find this thread rather fascinating.
Damnit then don’t post Faggy McFagsALot.
I would say its generally a bad idea to try to beat Sol in the air, midstream. It would really be better to just block and wait for an opening on the ground. You don’t need to make dust loops easier for Sol.
Sol is a better beginning character than Dizzy, IMO. Both do nice damage, but Sol is more forgiving.
See, that’s the difference between you guys and the Japanese - they take the risks whereas you don’t.
I’d say the American style of gaming is to find that one loophole for that one character and try exploit the shit out of it.
It’s funny how diversity isnt a big thing here even for games. MvC2 totally got raped by that concept.
Zak…shut up.
Not only was that totally unnecessary and unproductive, but it was pretty damn snotty too. Why don’t you watch those SBO2 matches a little more closely and see how “risky” they’re playing? Still waiting for those clips, btw (could never find them on your DC share).
What’s really funny about this is that you’re saying the US as a whole doesn’t take risks, while trying to convince me that the move I’m advocating is somehow risky and thus I really shouldn’t be doing it. Oh sweet irony, how I love you.
