Whats up SRK community!
I’ve always been a fan of fighting games, but when my local arcade scene went extinct (many years ago) my gaming interests shifted to single player console experiences. Other than occasional local matches with friends, or fighting the computer for nostalgia’s sake, I hardly touched a fighting game.
At this time, and with this current gen of consoles, I’m trying to get back in the game. Right now, that game is SF3: OE. Whatever level of skill I had in the game back in the day is gone, so I’m basically coming at this from square one. Here’s where I can use some points of advice:
My main is Dudley. I tinker with Yun and Akuma, but Dudley is my primary focus. I think I have at least an elementary understanding of normals, and zoning for all three characters. Where I falter is execution. My muscle memory is shot, and I’m having one hell of a time trying to get it back. I’ve worked with the challenges for all three characters, but those sessions usually end with frustration once I get to the mid to high level stuff. I find that I’m even having trouble with some of the bnb combos, like Dudley’s standing roundhouse -> Machine Gun. I’m wondering what training methods any of you SF3 players use to get your execution solid–'cause I’m missing something. For the record, I’m playing on a MadCatz TE stick, modded with an 8 way gate.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions for where I can find additional 3rd Strike tutorials on Dudley, Yun, and Akuma on YouTube or elsewhere, I’d really appreciate it. I’d like to see some idea of where I can take these characters once I get my foundation back. Sorry for being long winded, and thank you!
No training methods required bro, grind it out. It isn’t rocket science
Yeah, I get that practice makes perfect. I’m not looking for mythical magic dust to give me Daigo skills overnight either. Just trying to get an idea how others train their muscle memory so I can incorporate that into what I’m doing. Who knows…Maybe I’m over thinking this.
