"Get Ready...Survive!" The New Garou: Mark of the Wolves Thread

Recoil guard and Just Defense are two entirely different things, not the same at all. You’re looking at it the wrong way. If anything EFZ RG is closer to KOF MI2/A sabaki, and JD to SF3 parry.

RG: screenfreeze, allows the other guys to cancel move with his own RG
JD: if your move got JD and you are still in recovery animation, you’re dun, son.

I cant still grasped the full concept but I will admit that I can agree that JD and 3s parry are the same level hence its mandatory to have to compete well against a few match ups.

Well my competitive spirit seem to have die with this game now but I appreciate the insight.

Is it worth it to buy the 360 port for training mode, bad online and supporting snk? Or should i just stick with ggpo and reloading saves with an emulator?

Any tips on taking on Good Tizoc players? The problem I have with Tizoc are his pokes, which are the best in the game. I know I can just JD it, but it’s difficult to do online.

Get it if you want to train specific things since it has a command button recording feature which is good for testing things out. If you just want to practice combos or things of that nature then emu is fine for that.

Use your characters pokes or :d: + :snka: + :snkb: if they are using a lot of stand :snka: pokes. Everything else you JD then GC to punish.

Tizoc has the best pokes in the game? Could you go into further detail about this?

I think he was saying that pokes are very strong tools in this game, not that tizocs were.

Also, how do I do the thing with dong where he does a short flip off the ground and he has a blue trail following him?

You mean his break move? It’s :dp: + :snka:/:snkc: then quickly :snka:+:snkb: to cancel it. That or maybe you are talking about his super jump which is :d: then :ub:/:u:/:uf:.

A couple of questions:
Does hoon have any other pokes that dong doesnt have that isnt the better D feint?
How long do you have to charge Hoon’s anti-air?
and how do you do the special taunts at the end of the round?

Started playing Garou again and I am loving it once more.

Simply a quick courtesy message to apologize to fellow GGPO garou players for my behavior. I am sorry for any unpleasant experience and inconvenience I created. (every one else can disregard this…finally my conscience can rest)

can someone explain the tier list to me?

kevin, gato and jenet are constantly ranked near the top, why is that?

all i know is that kevin probably has the best super in the game (the gatling freezer), damaging combos and something to do with a special move cancel. the something copter. any other reason why?

i can see why gato is near the top. he feels like his kofxi incarnation. maybe slightly weaker normals and specials but his meter building and juggle abilities are insane compared to kofxi. is it just me or does his normals, especially his jump attacks out prioritize everyone else in the game?

jenet, i know she has the hind break which is really good for pressure along with her pixie dives. that standing horizontal kick seems really good too. is there anything i’m missing?

whos better between the kim brothers?

I’m no expert, but here’s my .2 cents

the teir list is subjective… Everyone is really close.

Kevin it pretty much top due to meter building abilities, super, command grab, d+A+B beating almost everything … am I missing anything?

everyone else and then Tizoc or Freeman…

B. has a really good ability to pressure your opponent with the Dive kicks and her break move. She also has a pretty good air throw and her jumping D has pretty good priority and gives you many options after landing. Her third super is really good against multi-hit moves or Supers.

I personally will pick Dong over Jae… Dong has more “safe moves” than Jae, air throw and you can get by with Dong with less Feints then you can with Jae.

Kevin: Safe pokes and cancleable specials that lead into his great super
Jenet: Safe dive kicks that lead into super, air throw and good priority moves

And I personally thing Hoon is the better of the Twins. He has a lot of safe poke strings that lead into super or special, while dong can only lead into super. His corner feints are also better than dong and can be used in a 100% combo, but his feints make him harder to use.

Jae and Dong actually have the same exact animation frames to a certain extent. There are certain normals that might be slightly faster or slower by like a frame but overall they are very much identical in every way. Are you talking about his charge :d:, :u: + :snkb:/:snkd:? If so all charges are 1 second charges for everyone character in the game. Special taunts is either hold :l: + start or :r: + start at the end of the round. I posted about that in the first post on this thread as well.

Main thing to take notice is that they are tiered high mainly because of their strenght and options.

-Kevin is good because he builds meter super fast. He has one of the best :d: + :snka: + :snkb:'s in the game. He has probably one of the best break moves in the game (for example he has his corner guard crash block loop which is pretty much impossible to escape if you do it right). He has good priority on pretty much all his normals. He has a really good command grab which grabs a lot of stuff, even grabs people out of their supers. He also deals really good damage off his supers. His corner pressure game is really good as well. Since he has his special cancel ability he doesn’t need to FC at all because the special cancel makes him recover faster than a FC. In other words that means he can charge his super meter while doing combos/block strings.

-Jenet has her dive kick which is probably one of the best moves in the game. It’s safe on block if you time the kicks right so you can follow it up with more block string pressure, etc. Not mention you can do it from a backdash so it’s pretty easy to punish a lot of things with it. She has an air grab which is really dam good. She has great priority on most of her normals. Her supers all push towards the corner rathr easy which is exactly where she wants to put you. Her corner FC pressure game is insane if you use all her normals and specials correctly.

-Gato pretty much builds meter just as fast as Kevin can for the most part. He has an overhead normal which gives you a free super if it hits and you super after it (It’s escapable but you have to react to in order to escape it). He has easy links into his super which gives him more options to land them. His :qcb: + :snkb:/:snkb:, :snka:/:snkb:/:snkc:/:snkd: mixup is great because he has so many follow ups he can do. It helps during wake up games because you can go high/low or even not do it and just throw instead. As well as giving him one of the easiest GC special moves to use which leads to his punch super easy. He can FC all his normals close/far for the most part which really helps keep pressure on people. His has an air turn special (jump + :snkc: + :snkd:) which gives him better crossup options. His punch super is safe on block/JD and even safe on most GCs because the invincibility frames on it last a while.

The Kim bros are very similar mainly through their normals but their specials/supers are way different. Lets break down their differences:

Jae - Dashes instead of running which makes FC loops easier. His dive kick isn’t as safe as Dong’s, though he does have 2 options after his dive kick which help out. He has riskier specials overall. You only really use his kick super for the most part since it’s faster than his punch super and easier to combo into. His best AA is a charge kick which is kinda difficult to use on reaction, unless you understand how to use certain charge trick methods. It’s also his break move which leads into his kick super easy. His ground combos are better overall and lead to better wake up games.

Dong - Runs which makes FC not as simple but still simple to do loops with even. He has an air grab which is really good. A lot of his specials are safe for the most part. He has a cross up command normal which is :l: + :snkc: (probably one of the best crossup normals in the game and safest to use). You can use both his supers in combos at any time when you are close. His AA (:dp: + :snka:/:snkc:) which is also his break move and safe for the most part. It has really good priority as well which leads to counter hits pretty easily.

I think they both have the tools to keep even the tops at bay. It just depends on how well you react, execute certain things and play with them. I think that Jae is closer to their dad than Dong. Even though most of the specials they use are split between the two from their father.

I swear Marco’s DP cancel is like the hardest thing to do. It could have been a lil more leinient like Grant’s. I must be doing it wrong

Try this-
Hold :df: when doing the DP then press A+B. This works with some players

I dont know where the whole :df: thing came from but all you really need to do is do it quick. I’m talking about doing it like roll cancels in Cvs2 speed. Maybe I should record a video showing the speed with my hands so people can see it.

Have you doing Jae’s feint cancels too.

Th DF method does work a lil better for me.
