Always wondered this. But can Freeman break/cancel any of his specials like the rest of the cast?

Freeman can only Break his :hcf:+:k: if it grabs an opponent.
The range on it is a bit tricky-
:snkb: ver. will grab an opponent is VERY close to Freeman, we’re talking a range similar to Tizoc’s 360+:snkc:
:snkd: ver. will grab them from a distance. This distance between him and the opponent is equivalent to the width of a character sprite. I’ll need to check if you can grab them from a backdashing distance.

Here’s a little set-up for the :snkd: ver.-
Do a Standing :snkc: that hits or gets blocked then immediately cancel it into :hcf:+:snkd:
Freeman should grab them. So what you do is Standing :snkc:xx:hcf:+:snkd:

If you want a good chance at it breaking press :snka::snkb: twice when he grabs them.
The best combos you can do after Breaking it are-
St. :snkc:-Feint->Cr. :snkc:xx:qcf::qcf:+:snka:
St. :snkc: or Cr. :snkc:xx :qcb:+:snka: x3

I’ll test what you can also do at the corner.

Oh and before I forget: Freeman’s HCF+K will NOT grab a Crouching opponent nor a Cornered opponent.

Started using Marco, so far so good.

His f+A overhead is godly, piss easy to hit confirm and gives you like forever to follow up with a DM or whatever. Kinda reminds me of Dudley’s, but better.

His DP break timing seems a lot stricter than of the other characters.

Does he have any good low combos aside from cr.B> DM?

His best low BnB is cr. :snkb: linked (not canceled) into his :dp: :snkc: (break) :qcf: :snkc: (or super)

And yes, the timing on his dp break is really strict, especially on wiff.

Timing is strict on whiff, but for some retarded reason, its the easiest move to break on hit or block when doing strings or combos.

Doesn’t look like it, I can break Terry/Jae/Jenet/Dong etc all day but not Marco.

do a sC, into dp and break it, its easy as hell like that, even if you do it when they guard. If you whiff or just do the dp by itself, its a pain.

Your welcome, BTW about the corner combos for after Breaking his HCF+K, what I supposed to say was if you got cornered and did the move and it grabbed them, and I found this extra possible one-
St. C-Feint->Cr. C–>QCB+C x3
Do it really fast BTW or some hits will miss.

Oh and you can do-
QCB+C, QCB+A, QCB+A or C
The 2nd QCB+A hits low, whereas the C ver. doesn’t

The first QCB+C has a longer range than the A ver. but is a little slower than it.
The first QCB+A has a faster start-up, but shorter range than the C ver.

@Diavle- I actually found a way to Break Butt’s :dp:+:p: easily (to me at least).
Hold :df: then Break it and chances are 50% of the time it’ll Break. Try it out like 10 times to see what I mean.

Also with Butt, if his Far St. :snkd: gets block it’s cancelable. So you could do Far :snkd:xx:qcb:+:snka: or :snkb: to get in close.

You’re right, it is easier when done in a combo.

WTF holding df guarantees the damn thing, I just did six standalone DP breaks in a row with zero practice. Guess I will be able to whore Omerta’s combo now hehe.

I actually find it easier to do Marco’s :dp: breaks when putting the stick on neutral then pressing :snka:+:snkb:.

Dunno man, that’s how I did it before and had an extremely low success rate but now its over 90%. I went back and tried other characters with DP breaks (Terry, Dong, Gato etc) and it works better with them too. I don’t know if its my keyboard or not but this method is a godsend.

Well whatever works for you is what matters.

So after some testing I found that, this Hotaru corner combo-
Jumping A, C–>Down+ABxxQCB+B, Break–>TOP Attack–>Kick super
Doesn’t work on account of the Down+AB not pushing you back a few pixels for the TOP Attack to juggle them high enough, so that Hotaru recovers earlier to get the super to combo.

There isn’t a point to doing it in the first place because a :d: + :snkc: does about the same damage as a :d: + :snka: + :snkb:.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell…
Hotaru’s :d:+:snka::snkb: does 1 point of damage more than :d:+:snkc: ^_^;;;, but I get what you mean.

Actually Garou is coming out this summer. 2002UM is the one coming out next year.

Atleast that will bump the scene more considering I just got the game and I’m still learning it. Until I get a new stick and some comp it’s pointless right now.

So what, is this SNK’s plan to market their games on the big consoles? Should help the scene.
