General 3S/3S OE Thread. NO DISCUSSING REBALANCE, unless you like INFRACTIONS!

Still can’t get it to work. Frame data page says s.LP has the same advantage on crouching hit anyway. I’ll mess around with it in GGPO tomorrow and see if things are different there, I guess.

One more question – the frame data lists “Dash backward (full animation)” and “Dash backward (recovery cancelled).” How do I cancel dash recovery?

this is quite the hot topic lately!

there was a discussion related to this recently on here. I can’t remember where so if someone can find it please link it. cancelling dash recovery is something you’re probably already doing. its just doing a move right after dashing. think of makoto players who do cr.lp in between 2 dashes.

When he dashes back, there is this moment at the end of the animation where he snugs into place ( or gets into stance, whatever you wanna call it ). That is what you want to cancel in that dash. I believe you can grab, jump cancel as well as a few other things. I wanna say normals are fair game too but I usually get a bit of the snuggle from neutral normals where a cancel dictates there shouldn’t be any snuggle. :3

Okay, thanks. I thought something like that was happening. It definitely does not feel like I’m waiting 40f for a forward dash to end.

Oh, I just noticed the frame data sticky. Here’s the post about cancelling dash recovery.

I usually confirm off sound only. Which leads to an unfortunate occasional situation where I low forward but it gets stuffed by low short and I super anyway. And since they don’t expect me to do something that dumb it hits anyway.

Leads to self loathing and guilt

So, in my self-discovery phase, I decided to start learning Urien from the ground up. What better way to do that than to DO THE TRIALS IN 3SOE~!!! Tell me something… are there any fucking trials that are useful?

@bmckay‌ no clue, it’s been a long time since I’ve done any of the trials. it’s safe to say 98% of them aren’t useful.

I don’t know how much you know about Urien but start out learning:

  • sphere x aegis
  • tackle x aegis
  • jump rh x cr hp x tackle
  • jump rh x st mp x tackle
  • cr hp x ex head x tackle/head

Maybe practice tackle -> tackle after an air sphere since it’s easier than tackle tackle head.

Thanks, boss. Working on that stuff right now. Playing easier execution characters like Yang has spoiled me.

I’m actually really glad you pointed me in a specific set of directions because I literally JUST started learning some charge partitioning which is well beyond anywhere I should be right now. Dash up headbutt.

I used to watch emphy and Mr. Universe as they would run their partitioning schemes and I always noticed them do this thing where they smoothly go between charges. For example, you know when Urien dashes back he does this like light hop back and then he hangs in mid air for like a second? Well they would use that rhythm to kinda plan and play. Then in the dash headbutt combos they would do this thing where they went dash slide to down slide to up then slide the left and finally to down.

The motion would look something like:

:f::f::df::d::u::ub::b::db: + p

That motion kept them charging or at the least kept them in a sequence while avoiding anything that couldn’t lead to a headbutt. They basically would dash, use the second forward of that dash to slide to charge, charge while slowly moving to down, then once at down move then slide along down back to finish whatever charge you may need and ultimately still allow yourself to block if you didn’t charge it correctly or something. There’s more to the explanation but I have this panang thai curry plate here next to me and it’s not going to eat itself.

This is why I like you, Dander. You went above and beyond by throwing in those arrows. AND THEN DESCRIBING what I’m seeing. I mean, I would have gotten it based on the arrows, but the text around it was fucking sexy.

And this is not to take away anything from Yuuki. I’ve always been a Dander fan. lol.

3s why are you so unforgiving?
I felt like a complete fool when I played it again after such a long break, a year.
You sure can forget stuff quickly

… : (

DO NOT DESPAIR! Ride that bike again a few mor times. It will come back to you with a bit of practice

In fact you might be able to leave a few bad habits behind if you try a fresh approach!!!

So… empty jump low?

Who is considered the most technical character in the game? Not necessarily the hardest to win with, but the one who requires the most knowledge/ability/execution to play even remotely decently.

Hey, if it works for Kokujin…,

proly urien or yun

I played Urien last night against a friend’s Chun. Did the Throw Aegis Headbutt unblockable on him. TWICE. I’m officially the best Urien ever.

Urien’s midscreen unblockable is deceptively easy. Learn that. It practically gives you the appropriate partitioning timing.

Those feels…
“Oh hey, so i fucked up here… But I think I’m just going to put this super here… Yeah… Just because… Maybe it’ll catch, maybe it won’t… Either way, I apologize for being a horrible person but I’ve done this before so as the saying goes: Fool me once.”

The most technical is definitely Yun.

You can play basic with him and see results but there’s so much shit with Yun to learn. Character specific shit, resets, optimal combos.

Also the easiest to learn but the most difficult to master is divekicking.
