General 3S/3S OE Thread. NO DISCUSSING REBALANCE, unless you like INFRACTIONS!

agree with Tebbo 100%. online plays like a waste of time and as I improve I perceive it more. and I don’t believe GGPO is better. I’ve played there too and it was the same stuff, people were just better at it.

it bleeds into what I’m doing too. someone from XBL uploaded a ranked match we played recently and I was struck by how I was playing like a complete idiot. I didn’t even notice at the time. you can develop so many bad habits from online, run setups all day without paying attention to what the other guy is doing, turn everything into a stupid high or low “hope he can’t react to this” game, or just mash buttons and hope he runs into them because online.

I am cutting online out of my diet. I think it would be useful for a lot of newer players to do the same.

For the few i played ranked, i must have a shitty W/L too, but i mostly played random and don’t really care about this lol. I would say, don’t play ranked if you want to play online…

I CAN PLAY ON GGPO IF I WANT TO, YOU’RE NOT MY REAL DAD

Yeah, I know it’s to be taken with a grain of salt. But I do feel like I am learning some things.

I have transcended to the next level, and only laugh when presented with the bullshit of online. Also I won a round off a guy today playing with my feet.

But for real, online is pretty trash. I almost hope to get worse players just so I can have fun trolling them, instead of getting a better player, and pretending we’re playing 3S.

I mentioned this before… the online is not that bad for me. I live in Toronto, never have trouble finding a match, only 1 in 20 lags at all. I’ve been playing 3S for less than a year and rarely ever play anyone worse than I am. Hopefully the final patch in March/April will miraculously fix GGPO.

I always walked by the 3S cabinet in the arcade, this shit was way before my time. But you guys just sound like whiners. Don’t you have people to play in real life :D/

I do have people to play in real life. which is why there is no reason to play online.

I spent my first year playing this game thinking the online was just fine and dandy. but I’m always trying to improve and get smarter. and as you go down that path, playing offline every chance you get, you start recognizing that people online are not playing the same game. shit that doesn’t work offline works online. you get away with everything. no one is thinking. people wanna dash up/jump in, run a preplanned setup, then run the next preplanned setup that feeds off the first one, etc etc. no one is watching, no one is making mental notes of what you already did, no one is trying to figure anything out. either their setups applied in a random order work or they don’t. either way, next game. it’s not even entirely their fault, if you’re doing what you do offline there’s no guarantee that the netcode is really communicating it. everything is smeared together. like this:

let me ask this: how many times have you had to adjust in the middle of a game? how many times have you had to sit back and think for a second, and look for an opportunity or try and create one instead of just charging back into the fray? how many times have you had your wakeup defense really worked over and punished every time? I can count the players online who have done that on one hand. and even with them, we weren’t playing the same game. we were trying our best at least.

I think people really cheat themselves by experiencing this game primarily online. we would all be better served by either building a local community, or convincing already in place local communities to pick up 3s again. if you are passionate about it you can convince others I think. “I know you guys usually run SF4 and Marvel 3, how about you throw in 3s on the side? I will show up every opportunity.” try it at least. it’s better than playing online guess strike all day. we might as well be playing a different game if that’s what it’s about.

You can play 19 matches in a row of literally lag-free 3S on OE? Well… You’re wrong. I could be more or less of a dick in saying this, but my point I wanna get across is you probably don’t see it rolling back, also the input delay, which makes sure every game has a bare minimum of at least some lag.

@Igloobob Can you see Russia from your house?

Why would any American scene bother learning 3S when they can just press 4 buttons and be godlike at MvC3, or learn some vortex mix-ups and do some sweeps in SF4? Stop staying in the past, get with the times old man. You probably just suck at the new games anyway, get on my level kid. SCOOPS, MAHVEL, POPPED A MOLLY I’M SWEATIN, WOO!<br>

It’s a real nice idea Bob but shit is pretty dismal here in North America for 3s. I found a Ranbat that is far but worth traveling to regularly. Was so excited till i found out the season ends in a few weeks and they’re already talking about moving 3s to an off day or switching it out completely for SFxT.

Also I’ll random-braindead-setup you all day on OE. You see I’ve chosen a secondary colour for the 50/50 mix up at the character select screen.

you are one of the few people I have fun playing against online Funland.  the other people I’m sure are obvious, I’ve mentioned their names before.  but man, ranked is a cesspool.  I don’t see how anyone can get any value out of that.<div><br></div><div>on the offline scene on my end, I’m slowly getting started.  I can’t say I’ve built a scene, but there’s a few guys who know what they’re doing.  and that’s a start!  if I could collect a group of 6-8 guys who wanna run the game every week, that’d be pretty cool.</div>
