@SuperHadoken ⦠yeah man⦠i was confused when i wrote that post too ⦠LoL
@TehGen ⦠dude you got it. i went into training mode and from my button set up if i press LP once ⦠i get MP hands, and if i press LP twice then i get HP hands. what was bugging me was my inconsistency to get HP hands⦠but now i see i have to condition my finger to go mk >> mp - hp - lp - (slide of lp button), then - lp - hp.
Now⦠the FADC combo --> i press mp&mk after my slide, but im having some issues with the dashā¦is it just a matter of timming, or is there a quicker method for the forward dashā¦?

If youāre holding forward as you start a FA, then you only need to release it and tap forward again to do a forward dash.
:r: (hold) :mp:+:mk::r:
You still need to dash quickly though. An imperfect dash makes the link into s.MP more difficult or even impossible.
Handy tip here Yeb, been messing with mk hands fadc for quite awhile and struggled a bit with timing the dash in order to connect the following MP but this method seems to help heaps! cheers.

So I can now finally do mk hands thanks to the method Revs wrote, thanks for that.
The only problem I have is following up with another mk hands, I feel like that one needs to be done ridiculously fast, or is there some leniency ?
EDIT: I am always jut out of reach with my second mk
@Warlike
For the second mk hands you have to kind walk up slightly after the first mk hands depending on the character you are against and how close your first mk hands were from.
ryu and many of the shootos are hard, (its good practice to do it against them tho) but if you try it on for example balrog im sure you would reach pretty easily(think heās one of the easy ones to connect with)
btw, ggs
great gen, I get mindfucked by him even tho I main him xD hit me up anytime for more games. with only 3 games its hard to get the groove if you know what I mean.

Ah, I was practising it on Ryu, works when I tried it on Balrog.
And yeah those were good games ^^

This is SO frustratingā¦
I can now do mk hands and then a mk but the hands just wont come out the second time even though im sure I press 5 punch buttons (note I am using Revs method, posted at the top of this page)
You are probably timing the buffer punches wrong, if you do it to soon it wont come out, to late and you might get out a normal (on of the buffer punches)
I dont use that method, but I sometimes do the mp, hp,mp,lp, mk, mp, hp (I cant do the 2 buttons at the same time
I just suck at it) and it wouldnt come out because I did it to soon. I would say, try to time the punches as late in the animation as possible, but fast so you get it done before u need the mk, well. Its just practice really.
But then again, I dont use that method, I just do mp, mk piano everything, mk ⦠same again without buffering.
Go in training mode and try out different timings for the buffer, thats just my tip
RELYING ON MK>>HANDS
last night ā¦i played some championship matches. I normally play my brother all the time offline and the matches tend to be one sided (me being the victor
), but thats only due to the fact the i know how he plays.
Any way back to my post⦠my gen style is kina aggressiveā¦i use mk hands āslide methodā and totally abuse it when my apponent is in the corner, i dont really use crane cross over at all, but i do use crane J.HP, J.HK and Oga. I started to notice, when i ran into people that played smart and new the match up⦠my style wasānt working much.
Am i replying too much on mk>>hands??.. i mean its his best zoning/poke/pressure tool.
Iāve won allot of matches pretty much using mk>hands and abit of spacing. But im starting to feel that im over using it and now people are learning the match up⦠its getting difficul to win with just that. I feel im hitting a platoe or something, its really bugging me.
Do i have to develop my mind games? if so⦠how do you establish it if your only playing one set?..
hope it all made sense
Look at the games you play, How did I loose? did I get AA in the face and kept jumping in? did I fail on footsies? did I get dp in face for repeating mk hands over and over? am I reckless with ogas?
for ut without an video its hard to say why you are loosing. understand why you lost, so u can improve on.
who knows, they may just play at a higher level then you, are the dudes you play on your friendslist or something with good connection? or is it just random dudes on ranked and whatnot?
edit: btw, when you only play your brother, you wont get variaty, and you need that to play your best against more than one dude.
āi think i jump too much. normally thats how i start my offenceā¦if its successfull, then i try and stay in mk>hands range after.
āNeed to polish up my mk>hands, im starting to notice that in cirtain situation (when i rush the mk>hands) im getting strong hands, so when i go for another mk>hands im too far.
āI dont abuse Oga that much, sometimes to bait, but most of the time i use them after a know down.
The people i played where just random dudes on championship mode.
I have been working my local arcade (word up to family fun center in omaha) getting my MK>Hands down and iām getting solid at it. Iāve been able to work mind games really hard and do very well with mixups but i feel my game has a hole in it without this. So iāve been working it like i said and iām having a problem cancelling to the second mk>hands am i cancelling too late? i canāt get the FADC out there, i end up hitting more hands (continuation not new attack) right now i am going mk>(piano method) fierce, strong, jab, jab, strong, fierce. should i be cancelling as soon as i drop the last fierce?
cool, ill work on that. Is the hands only 5? Crap all this time i thought it was 6. Damn ill have to re-work on that, i think maybe my issue was a 6th punch button causing the continuation of the hands rather than allowing my fadc, thx for the heads up on strong>forward>hands ill start doing that.
I appreciate the reply sir.
Sounds a bit like where Iāve been with Gen for a while. Honestly, I think he really is a tough character to use well in SF4. Iām sure many experienced Gen players wouldāve found, once their opponents start to really familiarize with hands, Genās offensive pressure becomes somewhat diminished.
If you donāt already, I seriously suggest making use of KKK mk ambiguous cross-up. Make use of roll combos. To my knowledge thereās only one or two ways of landing Oga where itās safe on block so too much use of it against a half-awake player means youāll be punished for it.
My thoughtsā¦
For someone new to pianoing would it be easier to raw mk hands or to buy extra buffering time with the mp > mk link?

So i recently started dabbling in Gen. One thing that iām not clear of though is if itās enough to press HP once in the end to get Hp hands out? I land mk - hands like 70% of the time now using mk+lp-mp-lp-mp-hp, but thereās no point learning that if it will get me mp hands instead of hp. If someone could confirmt that iām doing it right that would be great ^^
seems legit for me. looked on your inputs in the lab?

I would like contribute, the way to cancel the first hit on hands as you know itās been discuss earlier, but nobody got it right, the way to do it is holding forward do the first four inputs, then at the fifth input you press forward and mp+mk+ hp (at the same time), if you do it right, this is the fastest way possible to cancel first hit hands, your opponent will be on blockstun if he blocks or hitstun if he got hit. For instance cr. mp+hands, the way I do it is: down-forward, mp,lp,lp,mp, forward (mp+mk+hp). The important is the last input (forward+mp+mk+ lp or hp), 'cause the last input would determine the intensity of hands (lp or hp).
Guys, I know there is a video about how Xian do it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeN6_4sJntA), but it is wrong 'cause that method do not allow you to do it consistenly, I am pretty sure that Xian do not use that, because he do it flawless.
This method also works with mk, hands, you do the exact same ending.
