Gen General Discussion Thread: Theory Fighter!

I mean the head dive move thingy as tomahawk lol!.

I missed this place.

Sorry about this if it’s too O/T. Ford and I have parted ways. It’s such a shame really. He’s a really good player, but he’s also a slacker and a moocher, giving my family a really hard time by not working, complaining all the time.

I really hope he can straighten out his life, it would be a lot of wasted potential otherwise in both SF4 and Tekken. At any rate, I will up and/or share any vids of him that I still have.

Wish him all the best.

??

Ford’s one of my friend and top Gen of Manila, I posted some of his vids in the vid thread some time ago.

Ah, cool. I’ll make sure to check them out. good luck to him in whatever he’s doing now!

4neqs, you have the best Signature EVER<

Hey guys, I’m going to a tournament on Saturday. I’ve been off the Street Fighter Wagon for a few days, jumped on last night and I was doing all sorts of crap.

Any advice on things I should make sure I have sharpened in time for the tournament?

I’m thinking I’m going to sit in training for the next two days and make sure I can do his basics, which seemed to have escaped my muscle memory :frowning:

@ugo, I’ve been hunting around for your zip files that you uploaded with some written notes, I can’t find the post.

Is there a guide anywhere to doing is hands special move? Everytime. Mash it it never comes out? Is there a method to doing the movie properly ?

google it, or search on youtube there are tons of vid

Hi there, didnt see a general questions thread so might as well ask here, I’ve been trying out gen recently really liking his strong footsies that’s why i’ve been mostly using his mantis stance and only use crane to antiair basically cause I have no idea how to do all those crazy oki setups.

Anyway I noticed in the beginner thread and in a lot of videos one of the bnb is cr.lk cr. lp. st. hp xx waterfall kicks, however in ae he got the ability to link cr. mp after cr.lp which does the exact amount of damage and seems to be easier cause you can buffer the kicks easier, is there a good reason why people still prefer doing st.hp over cr. mp?

Interesting, it might be easier to hit confirm using st.hp > mk > gekiro. You can always go to hands from TC2 if all else fails? leaving you safe-ish

You’re slightly off on your BnB. The BnB is cr.lk>cr.lp> st.hp > st.mk (TC2) xx Gekiro which does 210 damage as opposed to your listed BnB that does 142 with st.mp or 151 with st.hp. However, if you did opt to just do Cr.lk>cr.lp>st.hp xx Gekiro you do have the option to use HK.Gekiro in a lot of matchups to setup a soft unblockable or nasty ambiguous crossup.

I also found that doing your BnB with mp xx Gekiro tended to whiff the Gekiro on Ryu unless I buffered and hit the motion within the first available frame. St.hp is a bit more reliable in that aspect.

Ah ok gotta practice that one instead, I thought in the beginner thread the mk and hp were interchangeable. I didn’t even know it was a target combo

oh nice just tried it, its sooo much easier to do tc2 into gekiro , it felt so awkward cancelling the hp right before the second hit came

I wish I was Godlike with this character. I’ve faced too many ‘okay’ Gens. :frowning:

Practice and get godlike. Simple!

Does anyone here have useful tips about performing gen’s hands? I can piano them from heavy to light but I need the heavy version to come out right?
