Wolverine sets up unblockables, ambiguous 505/50, kills in 1 combo, etc. You’re comparing a character who is able to operate in a completely unintended way that even capcom admits is broken to a weapon that any half decent player can beat?
Call me crazy but I believe in order for something to be broken there must be proof. During private testing for HDR some top players claimed some things to be broken and David Sirlin said to prove it by beating him with said broken thing and that’s the mindset developers need to have. If SO was so broken why do so many people like myself have no problem beating people who use it?
If someone is using SO than don’t go blindly rushing into it, why not shoot the user with a mid or long range weapon and force them to switch and/or move around? Why not bait the bullet and punish on recovery? There seem to be 2 schools of thought when it comes to gaming in general: Those like myself who put in the time and effort to get better instead of making excuses about why they lost and those who aren’t able to accept that they may not be the greatest player alive and blame everyone and everything else instead.

Example - Gears of war 1
Chainsaw someone = Noob
Active reload sniper down someone = Noob
Tag someone with a grenade = Noob
Gears of war 2
Chainsaw someone = noob
Plant a grenade on a wall = noob
Shotgun rush someone = Noob

Im with orochi. Stop playing “Shotgun Dance off” and just pick them off with mid/long range weapons.
I’m still waiting to pick up gears, but even during the beta I remember noticing how in gears I was forced to change weapons constantly. SO was powerful, but even then I felt it needed a shorter reload.
And yeah, people been calling gears cheap since grenade tagging and chainsaws.

There isn’t anything tactiful about bouncing from a wall and blindfiring the S/O for kills. Its easy to get close to someone in this game. The sawed off hits people in practically a 180 degree readius and the range of the gun is much further than point blank. It basically negates the whole need to do this thing called “aiming”. Sure can just try and distance yourself and pick people off with AR’s but good playes know how to get in for free.
I understand the theory of the gun, but it has just been implemented very poorly.
Sawed off is ridiculous and why it is so goddamn awesome makes no sense. Camp all day son.

I was tired as hell too, but BTekz (Rottona) was going off in one match, it was just him vs. 5 (w/4 extra lives) and he brought them down to just two bodies left but where ever he ran there were no weapons left for him to pick up except the flamethrower. He ran out of bullets =(
But I love Beast mode, takes forever to find a match though.

Serious though it’s just a matter of being more aware of what the other person has. If there’s a person trying to run up towards you from 15 feet away and he hasn’t fired his gun at you yet then something is amiss.
Picked this up on Friday, played all weekend…absolutely loving this game on every level.
As far as the SO in MP, people just need to know how to use it/deal with it properly.
You literally need to be right next to somebody for it to work…otherwise I’ll just back pedal and cut you down if you try that roll/shotgun BS. If I’m camping with the SO, don’t run up on me trying to chainsaw dumbasses…its not gonna work. If you gamble with the SO and miss, you’re dead…which makes sense. If you’re camping with the SO, the nice thing about the 3rd person view is I can check for you around a corner and try to draw you out or cut you from the side. Point blank with the SO should kill, makes total sense.
I like the weapon balancing so far, hope they leave it as is…

Same. If I get killed by SOs or Gnashers it’s because I was too close and unprepared. I’m like fighting at a distance with the Hammerburst and Retro. I’m not skilled enough to deal with people at kicking distance. I feel I get lucky if I can slice someone up with the Retro.
Love the Retro’s melee charge tho.
