Not sure how I feel about the face models. Look like typical American style CG. I hope the movie is entertaining, but I honestly wished that the character models were more manga inspired to keep with the feel of the show, but i guess that’s too much to ask in an American market to respect source material on an outer layer.
I think the OVA is quite good with the new designs and a song in English by Earth Wind and Fire. The soundtrack itself is excellent too. And of course the animation is a lot better than the original. You still get more out of it by seeing the original series first though because a few things will go over your head (mainly the identity of Berg Katse) and they are cramming a lot in 3 eps. I honestly don’t know why anyone would pass it up. It’s like 3 episodes on one DVD, it will take you like 2 hours to watch the entire thing.
You should skip Gatchaman 2 and F because they are horrible IMHO. This is really a general consensus as like no one goes near those parts or touches them, it’s all about the original series really. FAT chance you’ll see anything from 2 or 3 in a potential TVC 2. :looney: In 2 a dead person comes back to life as an android which is just stupid and cheapens 1. In F there’s a stupid plot about Ken relying on the special power of a magic sword too much that could kill him oooh… :wasted: It was just Tatsunoko trying to milk it.
Color me impressed, as long as this movie receives some good attention I’d be in line to see it, great series.

Woo…The CG is fuckin great. Animation looks nice from what I can tell so far. I haven’t really been a big fan of Gatchaman but I wanna see this. Anyone know when this is coming out overe here?
How odd - I heard people liked 2 and F and hated the OVA because of the new artstyle and making the characters felt more or less generic.
Would have preferred they used this as a promo. Absolutely love this art style.
But the clips so far look very promising.
Oh I’m not saying people didn’t hate the OVA. I just don’t see why anyone would opt not to watch a 2 hour thing which you can probably see online for free somewhere. And if you are not going to watch 100 eps it will give you the cliffnotes, pretty much like I’m assuming this movie will.
I can’t say I’ve heard of anyone talk fondly of 2 and F myself though I saw them a bunch of years ago, don’t know what fans think ‘today’ and nostalgia’s a bitch I guess. Still no one ever brings them up, refers to them or even thinks about them in terms of remakes, games, comics, etc. It’s really all about the original series.

lol no it just looks like they ripped off silverhawks…paint them all silver and its the exact same style.
I also find it coincidencial that TvC and this is in the same expo.
