Hey, nice combo. At first I thought it was hard to cancel the super from C, f+C becuase I was trying to do it all fast. But that actually screws you up, these combos require a lot of rythm it seems.
Here’s another Terry combo showing his cross up. The first C sets up the proper distance for the crossup.
BTW, is Kaillera not working for anyone else?
@metaphist
You are right metaphist, the distance for the crossup can make some problems. the C is a good hint to learn it. The rythem is really importent for some of Terry’s combos, I always begin the motion for the Triple Geyser just in the moment when the f + C comes out and end it with the ending of the f + C. Anyway, I think this can be learned without to much effort. I usually can do it 9 out of 10 times.
Btw, That there are not that much people doing things on Kawaks and so on is normal. Garou: MOTW is not that popular among a lot of players.
Good to see people reaching for the knowledge. NEO-GEO is a hard road to walk.
I just started playing this game…Which isn’t to say that I’m good at any other fighting game. If this is a stupid question, please bear with me.
What’s the best way to get in close with Rock? Consulting JKuroki’s and Shirow’s FAQs over at GameFAQs, I see that most combos start with a jump-in D. However, I’ve found that that often ends up leaving me on my back, wishing that my opponent didn’t have an anti-air special. So, something faster. I’ve been experimenting with jump-in B; it’s great for when my opponent goes into the air against me (high priority), but the damage isn’t great and it seems more difficult to combo with (although that may just be because I’m terrible). The Rage Run options don’t seem all that hot; both have recovery times that just ask for punishment. I suspect that the solution of the pros is walking, but c.B doesn’t combo all that well (so far as I can tell) and I’m reluctant to just march up close enough for s.C.
Is the problem just that I need to get better at low jump-D? Should I be using primarily j.B, and then mixing D in on occasion (i.e., going for the combo less often)? Is there something really obvious that I’ve completely missed?
Thanks for any assistance. I’m still a rookie, and appreciate the help.
My solution:
Jump at them, but Dont attack, be prepared to JustDefend!.. if they dont attack, proceed with the 360 throw… u can also brake it into super… and dont forget the ragerun for good mixup…
so, good luck…
Here’s a Marco Rodriguez combo
jumping HK, standing HP (1st hit), 2 in 1Koho:F,D,DF+P,
Brake:LP+LK, KyoKugen Koho:QCF QCF+K
Gato combo
jumping HP, crouching HP, Rai-Ga:F,D,DF+K, Brake:LP+LK, ???:QCF QCF+P
another Gato combo
jumping HK, standing HP, Shin-Ga:QCF+P, F F+P
First off, Hotaru isn’t weak
BJ’s good stuff: midair/backdash down+bx3(good recoveries)
airthrow
EASY break to do
superjump is invincible at start
c.AB s.C and f+C are great starters for feint
just defend super = strongest super in the game(damage)
qcf+a is safe at max damage, even when JDed(can’t be countered with Gato punch super/rock lvl 1 kick super)
Easy runaway, I guess
bad stuff:
lower health(girls always get less HP, hers is like 100)
useless TOP… gotta time VERY precisely to make it work as antiair
supers have bad recoveries
weak punches/kicks suck(except s.A)
not much of break/feint combos afaik… do tell me if she has a good one(70+ damage ones)
I think she should stay on air a lot, mix with d+b(wiff or attack like once and bait dp, land and go from there) or d+d air(good recoveries and angle), do f+c x2 then c.AB for guarddamage, qcb+b or D if you see low attack or shortjump coming, and airthrow(direction+C air), it’s not too difficult with her
Can someone explain “Break” for me I still having trouble with it
“break” means to inturrupt a special move in order to continue a combo. You press AB right at the beginning of the move (or whenever, I break w/ Terry)
For instance, terry’s powerdunk break allows you to just do the first hit of the p-dunk, so terry stays on the ground.
He probably has his reasons… I guess because it hits REAL deep. I think jC is better than D. J.D is kind of slow. Jumping isn’t that great option really, I’ve never seen anyone jump, most would superjump(DH/BJ). shortjump(Terry/hotaru/gato/griffon/korean boys), or s.AB(Terry’s horizontal range is amazing for this) but for jump if you feel a JD coming-rock’s jC chains into jB and you can gamble between having them blocking, and continue your offense, or them JDing and you eating a guardcancel.
I think rock’s AB attacks are his better attacks, both of them, and I use that a llot. sAB into 360 extends the throw range a little bit because he is actually moving forward. It actually goes through sweeps too… but it’s not actually that great if you want to counter sweeps.
dunk doesn’t suck if you get them to block(safe from reversal gato’s kick super which I believe is one of the faster supers in the game). But yeah. if you get them to block… jumping back kills rock’s qcb+a/b/c/d game.
Oh yeah, and about break. Gato has the best break. Gato qcb+k break is bullshit. This has to be the best break; it’s got almost no recovery, it’s a ONE BUTTON break, you screw it up and you get the upwards kick that trades with a lot of c.AB, plus his other break is an antiair break, which is useful in combos, setups(hit w/s.a then walk forward, anticipate their land attack)etc.
What do you mean by “one button”?
qcb+b(hold), tap a immediatly. That way you only have to press A, thus the one button break. He basically does a fast recovery free hakikyaku, though this move doesn’t hit low.
Anyone got some good strats for Freeman?
Also, is Kain really broken? I mean, I know Grant is thanks to his ungodly 3C juggles and such, but Kain (while he does have good supers) seems almost… underpowered to me.
kain is midish tier IIRC. This game isn’t very charge friendly. I think the top tier is something like-
Kevin
Gato
Grant
Dong is arguable
I don’t know what you’re talking about because this game has possibly shortest charge controls(and tight too) SNK ever came with. Do shortjump and follow up with a rising tackle, and then try to do it again in KoF, this game is much easier.
Kain is OK. He doesn’t have fast normals. He has no useful feint combos, but he then has a pretty good TOP(range/power) and d+AB is real good, with both vertical and horizontal range.
They say JD fucks up Kain plays… I don’t know but it feels pretty difficult to JD kick super.
Game’s alright. The lowest tier character is Tizoc, but he has at least 50 extra life points(250) compared to everyone else(190 or 200). Well, him and Grant.
@Blue Carbon
Grant is not broken in my opinion. Look at Kevin, if you search for a broken char. Sure, Grant can do a lot of damage in no time, but Kevin can combo everyone to death after one mistake! Even if he don’t get a big combo in, he still hits hard and has a wide range of moves.
Kain is mid tier, tanks to his bad comboability without supers and that his main weapons, the fireballs, can be JD without a problem. He is not the fastest char and the damage he does is mainly medicore. Anyway, I don’t know a lot about him. This are just my impressions of him.
CRAP! That dude’s huge post on Jae hoon was deleted!
Okay I’ll try and summarize what I remember he said…
That kick move can autoguard some supers like Grant’s kick one
d+AB is nice
Dashes can be cancelled at any time
And as for my post…
Kain just doesn’t seem to have many tools really. He has his s.C super cancel, his supers, decent anti-air from a+AB, b,f+C, and d,u+B/D.
You use him just like all Guile-type characters, but you can’t just spam sonic boom sonic boom flash kick because of JD and his flash actually trades with some things IIRC.
Here are what appear to be the extent of all of Grant’s non-CH combos… he sure doesn’t have a lot of them…
*s.A, dp+C -> brake into qcf+B or qcfx2+A/C super
braking into his super only works in the corner on this combo lol
*df+C, dp+C (1 hit), d+D
*s.A, qcfx2+B/D
*f,b,f+A/C, df+C, qcfx2+A/C
*(corner) s.A, dp+C (brake), df+C, df+C, df+C, dp+C
*(corner) f,b,f+A/C, df+C, df+C, df+C, df+C, dp+C (2 hits), d+D or do the super instead of shoryuken
LOL at the last one. Grant may very well be broken… Just look at that… it’s over half your health on no bar! And the one right before it does almost that much… Kevin can’t do that… I see why he’s rated so damn high on the official tier list. YOU DON’T WANT TO BE IN THE CORNER WITH GRANT.
Oh yeah, and his qcfx2+K is one of those unblockable at throw range supers that Rock, Jenet, and Jae Hoon also have
EDIT: BTW, anyone know why Fierceslash.com is down?
