GANGNAM STYLE Most Viewed Youtube Video, Bieber fans commiting suicide

On the Macarena thing, Los Del Rio got the rough end of that one. They are wonderful guiatarists, the album where the song was original in is fantastic and they make guitars. Los Del Rio are baller as fuck.

Good point. The two offenders of that are Nickelodeon and BET. Every show on Nickelodeon always has to have some eccentric black person, and BET is self-explanatory. The only black show that wasn’t among the stereotype were My Wife and Kids.

How so? Be specific, and also be specific about how it applies to this particular situation.

Just watched it again.

Still entertaining.

Back in the old days, organizations and media in general would invest countless amounts of funds that would popularize said media, internet media (Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, etc.) was not as heavily utilized back then as it is now. Heck, Youtube didn’t exist before 2005 and Facebook only started several years ago, people weren’t able to follow a particular artist’s latest tracks as they do now. Back in the 90’s, if someone mentioned a particular video going “viral”, others would merely look at you and wonder what in the world are you talking about. “Word of Mouth” aka Viral Marketing only became popularized in the late 90’s as the use of social media groups became larger whereas heavy advertisement equals investments which necessitated funds and backing to support. Back then, how much one puts into their advertising would equate to how much popularity said item will or can gain. Today’s age, viral marketing takes over the definition of advertising at a much cheaper and safer investment. In essence, viral marketing is your heavy advertisement. Psy is the result of viral marketing.

Of course this could be just a figment of my imagination and if I’m wrong then I’ll accept my errors wholeheartedly and fully.

I’m aware of viral marketing. I’m asking how this applies to Psy, beyond your simple assertion that it does. Also, word of mouth and viral marketing are not interchangeable.

What popularized Psy to the extent that he is currently at today?

Explain the difference between word of mouth and viral marketing. I don’t mean this in a sarcastic way. I’m really curious.

7 outta 10 would play again

I don’t think you know what white knighting is.
I’m not defending the persons behavior of dancing, at all.
I’m saying that the poster is an idiot and has anger issues if he actually wishes someone ill will because they’re dancing.

YEA CUZ YOU CAN SEE MY ANGER IN THE WORDS ON YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN!!! i think i just proved you right, owell. Now get off my dick.

lol.

Happenstance versus planning, mainly. It’s the same difference between grassroots and astroturf campaigning. Falling ass-backwards into a zeitgeist doesn’t mean you’ve successfully manipulated the minds of the public, and neither does taking advantage of the zeitgeist once you realize that it exists. I’m sure the marketing whiz kids in the entertainment industry would like us to think that they have a fine-tuned level of control over everything we consume, but that isn’t quite true–particularly in the YouTube age, when anybody can upload or reupload anything and everybody’s always looking for the next memetic craze.

It is said that we should never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity. We should also never attribute to marketing wizardry what can be adequately explained by marketing wizards belatedly catching onto something to which the public is already hip. Unless somebody comes forward and says otherwise, I doubt that the “Gangnam Style” thing began with a team of guys with a long-form plan to get an almost entirely Korean language dance song onto an American awards show. There’s a reason why memes start appearing on t-shirts at the end of their life cycle rather than at the beginning.

It pays to read further.

this weeaboo ass nigga here

also, beiber has major swag hate more

I bet when psy drops another song/album people will go “man this isnt as good as gangnam style” and then slowly fade into internet obscurity

cause and effect…OHW

Music if we ignore the watermelon.

And American music and hip hop culture is somewhat popular in Japan and Korea. Love watching their bboy stuff.

People in the US do the same shit with building a profile in their head, acting surprised because I don’t talk or act “black”.

Girlfriend actually turned me onto it. I honestly like it much more than American Pop.

Can’t replace my Pennywise or Bad Religion though.

I came here expecting to read about Beiber fans committing suicide and all I got was this shit. I want my money back.

**BLACK LIFESTYLE. :smokin: **

The best thing about trends is that they all die out in the end. Soon we will get rid of this song and of dubstep, and replace them with other stupidities to keep things fresh and exciting!
