I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add my 2 cents to the topic.
I find the latest trend of “gaming” chairs to be a bit of an oddity to me. Gaming chairs are advertised as ergonomic but use seats that are similar to bucket seats you’d find in sports cars… which doesn’t any sense to me.
Due to the bucket seat design, the gaming chair has the sides padded/curved inward toward the user. In a car, this helps keep the driver locked inside their seat when they’re taking turns/curves at fast speeds… but the only thing this does in a gaming chair is push the user’s shoulders forward when playing. Unfortunately, this actually helps promote bad posture since their muscles will relax in this position as they play for long periods of time.
This is the chair that I personally use in my home office. It has a mesh design so it’s not as comfortable as a leather chair, but it does have a cheaper price point because of the material. I like this chair design a lot because it promotes a good ergonomic position when doing office work or gaming. In addition, I like that it has flip up style arm rests - instead of the standard arm rest design. This lets me flip the arm rests out of the way when using my arcade stick or have them down to offer arm support when typing on my keyboard/ doing office work. I also pair the chair with a foot rest which elevates my feet to further reinforce a good ergonomic position. The foot rest isn’t necessary, but I chose to purchase one mainly for office work. It keeps me reclined in the chair so I won’t lean forward/out of the ergonomic position (head against rest, shoulders back, arms parallel to floor, lower back supported, feet at an incline).
