Comments: This was my first SF tourney and I had a ton of fun. Considering the area, there was a good turnout (13 was the number of people that played, there were a lot of spectators) and a good variety of characters. Some friends of mine that don’t have the game but have played with me were there. One has a solid Honda, and the other was all over the place, picking Guile, Gief, and Blanka. Both were applying old school knowledge as they played in arcades back in the day.
I fought the guy that was picking everyone in the finals. He picked Blanka because he figured why not since he was already advancing. It was the first time in the tournament that he picked Blanka so I didn’t know what to expect. He had some tricks and was playing smart, which made me sweat a few bullets for a second there. It came down to the final round of the first match. He had me locked down in the corner blocking electricity, so i ultra’d and nailed him. Very cinematic finish. It was a good match and I had a blast at the tourney.
Our GS was cool. I know everyone that works there, so most of the attendants were in our circle of friends, which was cool. I got my Golden Ticket, and they led me to believe that I had to go to a certain location for Round 2, but the Official Rules say you can go to any Round 2 location as long as you have your certificate. So I called up the store I planned to go to (I am trying to avoid a Tourney level player that owns an arcade in my hometown, lol) and asked and they said everything should be fine as long as I have my certificate. Hope that helps everyone that was asking.
Also, best of luck to everyone at Round 2! GET HYPE!

The guy I gave it to is a fellow SRK member, who’s been here twice as long as I have.
He was a focus canceling rush down player, and the only reason I beat him was because I was Zangief, and got lucky.
TBH I feel he’s the one who deserved to go, and I’ve got a real tournament: Winter Brawl, the same day.
Also TBFH I figured I’d be able to make Round 2, and then after they hand the round 2 pass to me, they tell me it’s 20 miles away.
What a joke.
I live in Philadelphia, why would the more important tournament be so far away?

Comments: So basically, this was like, the least-publicized place for the SF tourney, albeit, I do recall that they were passing out fliers like crazy. I stuck around for a little while and played the employees (since the store was pretty empty around that time) and sorta just dicked around with Abel and Ryu. After that, I actually walked up to the Sunset and Vine location (JC Exclusive, is that where you won?) and played some of the comp there.
All in all, it was laughable. I’m headed to Sunset and Vine for Round 2. I’ll see a few of you guys there (and afterwards, I’ll be hitting up the club).
