Games that haven't aged well

dude…go play dark souls

The best Konami brawlers are far better than Streets of Rage 1 or any Final Fight… Capcom’s Cadillacs and Dragons, The Punisher, and Shadow Over Mystara are much better than those, however. Konami brawlers are still fun even if those are more advanced.

A lot of the early PS1 adventure-platformers haven’t aged well. Granted there are gems like Spyro 2, Oddworld and Medievil, but there are also games like Bubsy and Blasto that don’t hold up well imo. There is a large glut of trash games that could make this thread in every genre from the PS1, but that’s mostly by virtue of the fact that there were a ton of games for it. There are masterpieces in each genre as well.

Has anyone here played Brave Fencer Musashi recently? If so, how does that game hold up? I really liked that game when it came out and I’m curious to know what the retrospective on that game is like.

@“po pimpus” is it just me or does it seem like every thread where Po is, he’s arguing with someone back and forth lol. Hell he probably goes into the game of thrones thread in start arguing with people even though he doesn’t watch the show or read the books. Too funny.

Are you kidding me? I played through both Castlevania on the NES and Ghouls n’ Ghosts on the Genesis for the first time a couple years ago when I was on a retro console kick. Castlevania instantly became one of my favorite 8-bit games, and even motivated me to play through Simon’s Quest(bleh) and CV3. Ghouls n Ghosts was fun for sure, but nowhere near as clever with its difficulty or level design.

This one sucked:

The NES one is better

You can add to that Captain Commando, Knights of The Round and my all time fave AvP; that game was hella awesome.
Capcom was on fire at the time BUT like all fires, it got extinguished as the years went along.

That fire got extinguished by fighting games (much more profitable) and the decline of the arcade business later. Capcom made great beat’em ups till the very end with Battle Circuit. But people just didn’t care that much for the genre by that time.

It wasn’t just the beat-em ups, the arcade scene dying or players not caring about the genre.
Capcom still made bank with other games/IP’s like the RE series, Mega Man series, DMC series and Monster Hunter series.
All released on consoles.

Their decline, well historically, was that they were late to the 3D games era.
MvC2 was technically 2.5D [same with Project Justice] which were released, take note, on Sega Naomi and NOT on their own proprietary 3D tech back in 2000. They would release Onimusha: Warlords by the following year only and even that was just a modified RE engine which was initially meant for PSX but eventually moved to the PS2.

Upcoming games were mysteriously cancelled [Mega Man Legends 3]; they closed down Clover Studios for weak reasons; they got greedy, with SFxT as a notable culprit and the same goes for Asura’s Wrath. Recently, they released SFV which was unfinished af.
That’s why @“po pimpus” hates them so much; among other reasons, of course.

Another game that wasn’t great when it came out, but age did it no favors at all.

Ehrgeiz is pretty cool and has a great presentation, but the battle design is sloppy and the sound effects are ear cancer. It has an RPG mode I could never quite play for more than 10 minutes. Does it improve any?

https://youtu.be/cJeFIAqhkS8 <— Sound Effect is easily worst part of the game.

Those three are not games I ever liked playing or watching anyone play.

I don’t know if you’re just saying shit to troll or if you’re actually serious.
What is it with SRK that pulls in people like you and Affinity?
Mr.Wizard has to have developed some secret retard magnet tech in his lab.

I think your hate of me has made you lose most of your brain cells.

And yet he still has more then you do.

If you don’t like playing ot watching AvsP you are playing it badly or not looking the right replays.

Your use of “then” is ironic.

Yea a little.

I have no issues with the gameplay. I am just repulsed by anything featuring Xenomorphs outside of ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens’ after the horrible handling of the Alien intellectual property that has alienated its iconic sci-fi horror status.

Your use of “alienated” is ironic.

This whole page is ironic.
