Holy shit, that article is insane. Didn’t think that my opinion of Destructoid could go any lower, but it has.

TL;DR of the article: Journalist exposes fraudulent IndieGoGo campaign (campaign was supposed to be to get the person life saving surgery, but was for gender reassignment surgery). Article is released with the editor’s blessing, but article blows up. Instead of Dtoid owning the article, they decide to burn the journalist at the stake to appease the mob. GJP collaborates with the Dtoid editor to not only fire the journalist, but ensure that he does not get hired on at any of the “competition”, which pretty much kills any sort of career that he has in not only video game journalism, but games in general, since none of GJP would likely review any of his stuff, and several popular indie developers are close friends with people on the GJP list.

Gamergate isn’t new.

Gamergate isn’t new.

Well, yeah. Gamergate is the culmination of years worth of bullshit. Gerstmann being fired, Dorito Pope, entitled gamers, etc. Just a group of people saying “You know what, this whole shit sucks.” Problem is, their opposition thinks they get to choose which straw breaks the camel’s back.

Pretty entertaining watching from afar. I was fine not going to these “gaming” sites for a long time but now everyone wants to burn the whole thing down. Can’t say I’m necessarily against the outcome but I’m not putting any effort into it.
