New Venue

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited about the new venue! Thank you to McCarthys for allowing us to have Console Combat at their venue!

We will be there this Thursday starting at 7 pm - 2 am. Really hoping for a good turnout this week. They have cheap beer and food. Great place to have dinner while we are gaming!

All we (the community) want to do is play games. Not go a place to play games while also having our money extorted.

You want to move to a bigger venue, fine. But don’t expect a predetermined amount of people to be paying for food, drink, or booze every week. It’s how things fell out with the first venue.

Back at the Powerhouse, some of us didn’t really favor the idea of paying for parking in order to play games with other people of the community, and the ‘encouragement’ to buy drinks grew sort-of tiresome. I know that the bar needed to make money in order to be kept open, but some of us don’t drink and others don’t really have any money.

Extort: occurs when a person unlawfully obtains either money, property or services from a person(s), entity, or institution, through coercion.

Didn’t we leave the Powerhouse because the owner wanted to initiate some sort of ‘venue fee’ for our fight nights at the bar? I just don’t want that happening again with this venue.

I’m not trying to bad-talk anyone or anything anyone has ever done. I fully appreciate what you’re trying to for the community. I support this idea, so long as there aren’t any ‘prerequisites’ attached.

You know Manny could and IMO should charge a cover each week to pay for what he provides – space and time and food are not free for the host regardless if the players are getting them for free. All I offer at my place is lessons in OG games, haha, definitely not free food and beer. These guys are trying to get as many people as possible involved in the FG scene as they can and it’s not fair at all to expect any one person to rent out his home to dozens of strangers each week for free to everybody.

While you’re looking up definitions you should also look up “unlawful”. If you went out to eat in a group and you all ordered free waters I think the business owner would be within his rights to not allow you to loiter.

Further, you guys are lucky that you can even play fighting games for free at home, which is a pretty recent development in arcade gaming. Most hobbies require money to take part in, in the first place

I can speak for manny when I say he really doesn’t care… thats why everyone likes him lol For me its about creating a solid scene, for all levels and games, in the cleveland area. I really want to avoid charging people for the weekly gatherings…
