Man, SF4 brings back the feeling of the good old days while I’m trying to figure out the system and cursing at the screen at the same time. Great stuff. Side note: Did a Tekken 6 arcade machine ever appear anywhere in GA?

I played RelyT on xbla UMK3, and it was pure devastation, RelyT is a beast in that game. I’ve been trying to learn that game on a pad, but I really need the ridiculous arcade layout. When I play UMK3, my right thumb knows only the run button, so using a controller and having to press everything but run is confusing to my hands. It doesn’t help that I can’t remap the buttons, I could maybe use the TE stick and just do a weird 8-button spread.
RelyT, it seems like there are combos in the xbox version of UMK3 that I’ve never seen as doable in the arcade version. Do you know if this is true? I’ve only had an xbox for like 2 months, so my experience on xbla UMK3 is minimal, but I don’t remember Stryker’s gat-juggles working quite like the one you pulled on me (to give an example).
I’m still tempted to hunt down a standard edition fightstick and redo the the button layout for MK. :looney:
Maxx Mana, you know Arcadeinabox sells sticks with the official MK layout.
or do something like the Virtua Stick layout that does the combined SNK/Capcom layout so you’d have the run button down there, but block wouldnt be “official”

I haven’t played that game in forever. A lot of things(read: Virtua Fighter) have taken my attention away from Mortal Kombat, but I’d be willing to learn the game if there’s a scene for it here, no doubt.
It’s a really deep, unorthodox game that’s fun as hell to watch and play at high level. Youtube EWAShock to see what I mean.

Oh yeah, it’s a GameCube game, isn’t it? Honestly, I don’t know much about it, but I’m not one to dismiss a game just because it’s as unorthodox as GNT4 admittedly is.
Regarding UMK3, a former friend of mine told me that it’s basically the video game equivalent of monkeys typing Shakespeare. It’s a really, really solid game with solid mechanics and a solid cast that reached its level of competitive worth entirely by accident. Ed Boon didn’t know what he was doing then, and he doesn’t know what he’s doing now.

Even though I hate MK games, UMK3 is by far the best version. Very playable, surprisingly deep, and pretty balanced.
I’ve seen bottom tier Sheeva beat top tier Kabal, and it wasn’t one of those gay OMG WHAT AN UNDERDOG! victories either. Sheeva might as well have shoved one of her four fists straight up Kabal’s ass with how one-sided that match was.
As a side note, I fucking love Mortal Kombat games, even the shitty ones, because the shitty ones make me laugh my ass off. I love shitty fighting games in general.
