Just got back from he Hawks game, was fun! We won, but the game was close.
I don’t know what I’m going to do for Final Round. I’ve been playing SFIV on the 360 controller since release, I feel that I’ll suck ass on a stick or the PS3 controller :shake:
CoolBreeze, what games do you play, besides SFIV? Since we’re all rooming, I’ve no doubt we’ll engage in casuals…
Final Round will be my swan song for Street Fighter IV. I really don’t like this game, but I entered it, so I’ll play it.
I’m with ya there. I figure its because I’m not a big fan of ST, but I think that’s only part of it for me.

Double post, I know, but I think I better explain myself on the real.
I admit that I’m an extremely flighty and indecisive person when it comes to fighting games, but if I’m into something that doesn’t last long, at least it’s a really short period, like about…two weeks, or however long I was into Street Fighter IV. The thing with a lot of fighting games is that something about them really pisses me off whether I win or lose. The only exception to this rule is Virtua Fighter, so I figure I’ll stop beating around the bush and just play Virtua Fighter. Oh, and Smash Bros. Melee since it’s got Samus in it.
Just out of curiousity, what are your qualms with SFIV, 3S, etc. ?
They aren’t so much qualms as personal preferences. Street Fighter has always been a problem for me execution-wise because of how twitchy I am. Double quarter circle motions and dragon punch motions are hard as hell for me. While I know that I could just fix the issue with my twitchyness and play the game, I don’t have enough passion for Street Fighter to get rid of something that I’ve more or less worked around my entire life. The reason that games like Virtua Fighter work for me is because execution isn’t as much of a deciding factor. Memory is(remembering the 100+ strong movesets and their practical applications), though, and that’s right up my alley. So yeah, it’s more me than the games themselves. I have the utmost respect for Street Fighter players and I love watching the games at high-level. The only game I can honestly say I don’t enjoy, even watching it, is Tekken. I attribute that to my obscene whiteness.
They must have toned down VF5 inputs from VF4. Because I always thought VF was probably one of the most challenging games execution wise. Well unless you play Sara or someone like that. VF require multiple buttons, and it also requires pretty hard commands. Such as dash buffering during combs. df,df+P+K is hard. Especially when you have df,df+P+K, P, df+K+G,f+P,b,b,f+P+K. VF has every motion in the game from DPs, to fireballs, to 360s. Not sure where you get the idea that it’s less execution dependent than SF, that simply isn’t the case. Especially for buffered throw escapes in which you need to input a direction + P+G 4 times before your you are out of blockstun, which at most is 10 frames or 10/60th of a second. And let’s not forget about Senbons, and the 1 frame knee from Akira.
