Future of Nintendo? Bright.. or Dark

Uh oh. They only sold 160k units of Wii U globally since April. Sales continue to be piss poor.

They don’t have any games out right now, and ps4 and x-one is around the corner at the end of this year. Not lookin so hot

Nintendo killed it at E3.

if nintendo could make a 3d mario similar to mario 64 (BUT ON LAND) and throw OG enemies/characters from the mushroom kingdom

make a new star fox
another metroid
another zelda
obviously smash is dropping
the new dkc is dropping…looks better than the last game although i still want kremlings like everybody else
yoshi’s island sequel is dropping

work with square…

nintendo will be good. still want a true sequel to legend of the seven stars, with square doing the game.

They’re trying to sell at least 9 million units by the end of this year…

Good luck nintendo

Nintendo will go 3rd party soon mark my words.

Well aren’t we confident, ya wanna back up that claim hombre?

The thing is everyone wants to doom and gloom Nintendo yet they (Ninty) are still profiting despite shitty Wii U sales. Nintendo aren’t going out of business nor will they become a third party, not while the 3DS is still here anyway.

Wait until Pokemanz comes out, lol. Nintendo ain’t going NOWHERE.

It’s going to be grim.

We shall see what happens, but the thing is that Nintendo going third party isn’t nessaraily going to be a good thing. It’s not like Sega’s prime were at their third party years. Sega’s prime is either when they had a dreamcast or a genesis. If you think Nintendo is going allow any random mobile company touch their babies, you would be wrong.

Things will turn around for Nintendo once they announce their new console. But Sony and MS are getting ready to launch next-gen systems for $4-500, Nintendo can’t keep selling the 7-year-old Wii for $350!

While Nintendo is far from going third party, they would bring in good money developing games on mobile platforms. They would be printing money if they develop a crappy platform Mario game in the vein of Temple Run.

Nintendo will be fine thanks to the 3DS but the WiiU is facing near impossible odds.

Like the Vita, the WiiU doesn’t have much purpose nor value compared to the competitors PS3 and 360. PS3 and 360 have plenty of great games and not a single WiiU game on the shelves right now is worth missing out on games like The Last of Us or Left 4 Dead or Ratchet and Clank.

Even if WiiU had more games right now the marketing is very piss poor to the point where a large amount of consumers think WiiU is either an add-on or don’t know what it is at all. Once the games come in like Smash Bros. (also on 3DS so no need to buy WiiU FORTUNATELY) it may be too late.

X and Wonderful 101 will be fabulous games I’m sure, but no one buys Nintendo consoles for third party games that’s just silly in my opinion.
Nintendo games like Pikmin 3 sell the console to people, not third parties. The third party games won’t sell well anyway if they all get W101’s level of marketing.

With the PS4 and Xbone coming in November and with countless developers and publishers flocking to these beasts the WiiU is looking less and less appealing. Sure, the next gen consoles are more expensive, but you get so much more and both consoles will have great exclusives at launch. Sure, you won’t get to play X or the next Bayonetta, but you’ll get Infamous Second Son, Metal Gear Solid 5, Transistor, The Division, and other very promising games that will never come to the WiiU for very justifiable reasons.

I think Nintendo should have waited until this fall to launch the WiiU under a different name. They would still be begging for third party support having a much less appealing box, but they would have more of THEIR OWN games ready and have more value established for the console.

Handhelds are the best that Nintendo has from here on in, but people can only play Mario and Pokemon for so long and every 2D Mario and Pokemon is technically the same.

I’m surprised how easy it is to change a few words around and still convey the exact same sentiment for another console maker… Just a thought.

I actually think if they were determined to go with this exact level of system specs (not saying it is as weak as last generation but there is no doubt that it isn’t comparing well to what Sony and Microsoft have planned), there is no reason they couldn’t have dropped the Wii U back in the first half of 2012.

They might have still had the drought but they probably could have gotten some external developers to upscale some of the more recent Wii games like Xenoblade, Last Story or the Japanese exclusive Fatal Frame 2 remake to fill out the schedule. Really, waiting until fall when the only bullets in the chamber were NintendoLand and another New Super Mario Bros game was foolish. Though a lot of their foolishness could have been over looked had they not been such idiots at marketing it at the start and really since.

And yes, the name Wii U is causing far more problems for them then bringing in those that bought the Wii and trust the brand name.

Edit: All that being said, they will probably be fine, as the system really doesn’t/didn’t cost them that much and as long as the 3DS keeps selling like a monster in Japan and decently around the world, they make profit. That is pretty much how they survived during the Gamecube period.

I don’t really get Nintendo anymore.

They used to be complete bosses in terms of gaming technology with the Super Nintendo, then they didn’t go with the times and insisted on using that retarded cartridge, which was understandable since the deal with Sony blew who was supposed to upgrade the SNES with cd-rom technology and went on to make the PSX out of it.
At least the N64 had nicer 3d graphics than the PSX so that’s at least 1 redeeming feature.

Then they bring out the Gamecube which now for the second time looks graphically like ass compared to the competition but at least they make some exclusive deals with well-selling franchises like Metal Gear and Resident Evil and had a couple of amazing game to show for.

In the next console generation they land an absolute hit with the Wii.
The system again looks like garbage from a technical standpoint but brings a new gaming controller to the table that is fun, functional and appeals to casuals as well as hardcore gamers.
On top of that the console is cheap as dirt compared to their competitors.

So I asked myself: “How will they compete this time? Obviously, they want to keep their tradition of selling technically inferior hardware and somehow make up for it with either amazing games or some other gimmicky stuff that makes customers interested.”

I wouldn’t have dared to think about them selling the same fucking console as they did in the last generation just with a fucking tablet display tacked on the fucking controller.
That’s too much. Nintendo has lost me and I guess they gonna lose massive ground since their handheld consoles aren’t the shit anymore cuz iOs is starting to get a chokehold on the market.
