So on a realistic stand point what I got out of this is that if you don’t have a big name like Bethesda, EA, InfinityTard, Trayarch, Bioware, or Ubisoft your games will not sell? Yet more and more people are actually starting to Boycott large titles like “Call of Duty” and “Elder Scrolls” Because they just simply aren’t trying hard enough to make a difference or doing what old sayings are “If it isn’t broken don’t fix it” they are fixing things that aren’t broken and making it very frustrating on a consumers stand point to hold their hand anymore, What happened to Crysis 2? They are already making a third? Skyrim was over hyped and the game was subpar nothing facinating even with 100+ mods on computer from the community I might add.
The point is if you like a certain style of games but you’re feeling that it isn’t meeting a standard anymore why hold their hand nobody is forcing you to buy a Wii U or even post about it everyone is different.
Force them to make a change, also what is the definition of “Hardcore gamer” now days?
More power doesn’t just mean better graphics. It means advanced calculations-- like dynamic destruction of objects, or water physics, or real time wind resistance. If anybody can work around those limitations and still make a great game it’s Nintendo, but it doesn’t leave much for forward-thinking 3rd parties to try on Nintendo hardware.
It would give me no “joy” to see Nintendo leave the console business, but if Nintendo’s business approach and hardware design is so introverted that only Nintendo wants to make games on their consoles… what’s the advantage of playing Nintendo games on Nintendo hardware, as opposed to another platform? At the very least, Nintendo console prices should be extremely affordable, if their intent from here on out is to make a Nintendo-only box, with a few guest appearances.
I do hope the new gen takes a break from grimdark shooters though.
Nah bro, It’s because the Wii U doesn’t have any (subjective) worthwhile games coming out until Q3/Q4 outside of Pikmin, and the fact that they’ll have to compete with a cheaper 360/PS3 and the PS4/720.

I dunno, I don’t care what Nintendo games look like because if they’re good I’ll buy them, however you’ll have a harder time convincing the average joe nowadays. People are less likely to buy little Timmy a Wii U for New Super Mario Bros U because they think it looks exactly the same as the wii one they already have in there living room.
What about the Wii U? After E3 (and TGS later this year) John/Jane Doe will know to a degree what they’re getting if they decide to buy Sony/Microsoft systems but the general market is overall confused about the Wii U right now. Even Iwata, the now CEO of NOA admitted to it.
Really? A LOT of people buy Nintendo consoles only for Nintendo games, is that not hardcore? go check the best selling games on DS and Wii or better yet any Nintendo system and tell me with a straight face that their consumers aren’t hardcore? Everyone whose ever owned a game system or played a video game is some way or another knows who Mario is? Parents have a easier time buying their kid a Nintendo system with Mario than anything else, if you can shove out a Mario game at damn near any give time and be assured 1~30+ million sales that’s pretty damn hardcore, the irony is that same demographic is probably sneaking upstairs to play Call of Duty on his brothers 360 while he isn’t home.
I’m not saying that’s all Nintendo has to offer, but there core audience sure doesn’t get it twisted.
Well Yoshida over at Worldwide Studios (1st party Sony company) has gone on the record for saying “He doesn’t want just fps’s on PS4.”
And Sony (like Nintendo) has been making good headway in getting indie developers on board for there game systems as of late, take that anyway you want.
Define generic? most Call of Duty/Battlefield/Halo fans would shake their head at people buying Mario games too you know? it’s a mutual bias. Hell I even know some dudes (well into their 20’s) who’ll play Call of Duty Blops for a few hours on PS3 then turnaround and play Mario Kart Double Dash 4 players, the situation for the Wii U isn’t that black and white.
Replace “Nintendo” with “Microsoft” or “Sony” and you get the same situation. Besides, a lot of people figure they already know what Nintendo has to offer, where there is Nintendo, Mario/Zelda and crew are sure to follow. Hell Nintendo is damn good at cooking a few new ip’s here and there, but whose to say Sony/Microsoft can’t/won’t/hasn’t done the same?
Well, what kind of games do you play? just wanted to ask. I play Tekken Tag 2 on PS3 a lot and it doesn’t feel like it’s frying my brain or making me question my faith in god? Catherine is another game for PS3/360 that defiantly stands of the bunch, Hard Corps Uprising is ASW’s take on Contra and it’s fucking great. Valkyrie Chronicles? Demon/Dark Souls? Dragons Dogma and there’s a plenty more. Everyone can/does bring something unique to the table.
No? I don’t know about you but I was implying less games = less incentive to buy the system to the average consumer. Because if that wasn’t the case everyone would be buying Wii U/Vita’s right now and the N64 and Gamecube would have sold better in their lifetime. PS2/DS have a shit load of games and they sold gangbusters, the only exception to this rule is the Wii and last time I checked not everyone bought it for Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword.
Can’t really comment here as I didn’t and don’t plan to buy any of those games. I will get Skyrim for PC when it’s chump change.

People don’t want to spend $400 on a secondary console, especially when Nintendo’s internally developed games have been getting steadily worse since the 1990’s.
Yeah, and EA admitting it has no games in development for the Wii-U. This system has a year of shelf left at best. EA did the same thing to Sega during the Dreamcast Era, but this hurts more. When a company known for it’s bottom feeding quality can’t make the numbers work and opts out, this is very very very bad sign for the Wii-U and Nintendo’s home console chances.
They should just get out of the console side of things so they concentrate on developing titles instead of having the console burden. Nintendo lost 366 million last year, they go third party, multiplatform and make billions off of digital downloads
They have 3 scenarios.
They hook up with Sony for the Japanese takedown on everyone, but this would be unlikely since they probably hate Sony still and since the Vita would be in direct competition with the DS line.
They go complete third party publishing, and become a juggernaut in releasing content for everything out there.
They go exclusive with MS, making the XBox One instantly viable in Japan, and gaining the potential of bringing MS titles like Halo/Gears to DS handhelds, and stabbing Sony in the ass for a Turkish Revenge for the Playstation/PSP era.
