For me, there is one person who comes to mind immediately. He started out as a geeky and somewhat socially awkward computer science student with a conservative Muslim upbringing. Then he started dating. And having sex. And around this time he landed a high-paying internship. From there on, he’s been acting pompous jerk who thinks everything should be handed to him.
He usually dresses in fancy shirts and shoes, and he thinks he knows everything and everyone. Every time a moderately attractive woman crosses his eyes he never leaves her alone and bugs her to the brink of harassment. This trait would come to personally affect me when he stole away a girl that I was trying to get with, in a situation that I still have not completely forgiven him for. He acts like he’s the champion of women and is always trying to provide for his female friends.
This guy is a highly intelligent person and has no trouble finding high-paying work, but his arrogance has cost him at least one job in the past. Whenever I try to invite him to go eat or see a movie, he usually blows me off with a rude text message unless certain other successful friends or any girls are coming.
Probably the worst thing about all of this is how I’m the only one who seems to be bothered by his attitude. i aired out my grievances to a good mutual friend of ours and all he could talk about was how much money he was making and somehow made me out to be the enemy.
Sorry about the rant, but I just had a lot to say.

one of my teacher friends, too. She bitched about how she has some sort of reputation when I tagged her in a Facebook photo of us just horsing around. What’s funny is that she has some sort of hooker santa photo of herself right in her profile pictures. Half of those kids, that she’s teaching, are from a impoverished and ghetto area. At least half of them will die before they hit 30. And another 20% of them won’t even want to graduate. I just kept her around for a good laugh.

Some people are insecure, and have a hard time taking constructive criticism, even from close friends. Sometimes friends tell us things we don’t want to hear for our own benefit. It’s up to the individual to be humble enough to listen.
Other times one can encounter individuals who are just looking to get over on you. They value friendship based on what kind of resources a person can provide. Those people aren’t your friends.
Then there are the ones who are completely defined by the people around them. So they’re cool around cool people, and a prick around a group of people. Those people aren’t your friends either.
