So we are going to turn Worf into FDM-tan? Well, I agree that Worf is the face of Freedemonia, but weren’t we going to make animu versions of ourselves later on, so that we could incorporate them into the FDM-tan (Yuri) Harem.

Anyways, I didn’t give much input earlier, but I think we might be cramming too many moe flags into FDM-tan. We should have a proper discussion about how many things we can put into the character before she ends up having every moe element possible.

We can probably take out the fang if it doesn’t fit, or we can occasionally put it in when needed. The FDM logo on the tank top is nice, but it’s a pretty detailed logo and I don’t know if we can recreate it so many different times.

Actually, what is the purpose of FDM-tan? Are we just creating this character for fun? Are we making new shirts with her as the design? Are we going to use her to make comics? Are we going to debut with her on our first anime made by FDM studio? Finding out what our goal is should make some decisions easier. Like if we should make her a more simple character for mass production or if we should make a few different versions for every occasion.

I still like the idea of a jacket, so I experimented a bit and I think it looks better smaller and in white and black. I don’t know what that belt around the jacket is for, but I assumed it was to tighten the area around the waist. I added a little spatula for the zipper decoration. I thought about adding pockets but couldn’t figure out where to put them, maybe they’re not needed.

This is actually very easy to do as long as I’m not lazy and go into photoshop every once and a while.

(what I should be doing though is vector tracing the thing)

(that said, it actually has been an educational experience: the 2 main things I’ve learned so far is how to get the base coloring done faster and how to make corrections by just using shapes and the airbrush… once we settle on stuff, it’s actually really easy to just go back in and apply everything)

Also we can do the harem thing later… it’s becoming apparent that just designing one is taking a lot of work.

We should combine this with the mini-jacket and whatever reference we can pull off of google images.

My main concern is maintaining the form of the character since a normal jacket obscures most of that.

That said, having slept on it, the design of the actual character that sits well with me the best is the initial Mel Kishida ripoff design before I started messing with some of the facial features (I think to get that to work, I need to modify the face shape more).

Around 2 hours to color, going by my posting from… 2 hours ago. Not bad.

Still kinda experimenting with manga studio (particularly, I don’t have a real way of doing backgrounds yet… I’m just doing it like how I do characters, which may not be what I need to be doing), but it went by fast thanks to advances in how I do the coloring.

Anyway, the final FDM-tan drawing will look something like this… so let’s try to get it done >_>

This FDM-tan idea came to me when we were thinking about some projects to do for Scruffy’s art gatherings. I was about to suggest that idea but we haven’t had another concrete art meeting for a while. If everybody wanted to do it then each of us would have made some designs and then would keep working on it as a group.

Anyways, since today is my only day off this week I’ll see if I can cook up some more stuff.
