Also, for some obscure reason, Manga still hasn’t released Redline.
Worst case scenario is that it goes the way of Monster and never sees a home video release (here in the US).
That would piss me off royally.

For streaming: there are applications out there that’ll compress your video on the fly prior to streaming. It just does the compression on your end vs compression on their end. It’ll uses less bandwidth, but you’ll need a computer that’ll be able to keep up the video processing, even better than one that can just upload gobs of raw video.
I would offer mine but I won’t be there consistently.
So I’m suffering some kind of insomnia from the repeated crack sessions we’ve had and am now watching random anime. Despite the warnings about Dororon Enma kun, I watched it and at least I can say that it has the most hype OP that I’ve seen in a while. Also, fastest WTF is Go Nagai smoking moment. It’s one of those fight a new monster each week anime from the 70s and makes spoof of them.
Just watch the first 3 minutes of this and you can move on with your lives Meramera Mera Mera Meeeera Meraaaaaaaaa!
Dororon Enma kun Meeramera 1 - Watch Dororon Enma kun Meeramera Episode 1 Online
Also, the first demon of the week grows a giant metal phallic object from its groin and thrusts it as a weapon… yeah. And then the hero Goldion hammers the monster and his dick.
The animes that I do recommend are Kaiji2 and Maria Holic Alive. I still need to watch Nichijo just because it’s Kyoani, but heard mix opinions on it so we’ll see. And I’ll find out if Dororon Enma still amuses me next week.
GGs to everyone this Saturday and Sunday morning! I loved seeing all the new faces and getting to play and learn with each of ya! Watching the Sandwich match was pretty godlike especially with DKL randomly raving about how the game should have fatalities and then we see someone’s head get cut off.
@Thaguy: It was good to Talk some Viper stuff with you and see what you showed Worf about Chris! I like all characters and will have to utilize that stuff whenever I use him. I of course advocate everyone playing Viper since as long as your execution is good she does everything better than everyone else aside from Dark Phoenix. Even though I primarily rush for 90%/kill combos with her a lame Viper is vastly superior. You chip and zone until you have the positioning and gauge, then you unblockable and kill them. If you do it right their chances to make good decisions are very few and far between, it’s similar to Dhalsim in Super Turbo if matches against Balrog and Ryu didn’t change once they got super stocked.
@Som: Good games in Marvel 2, we need to play some 2 and 3 more for sure, and I must show you some of why Viper is the best character in that game. We were both out of practice in 2, but before you swapped off MSS I had like 35% wins, over double my normal ratio against you! Then when you went to MSP it went all bad for me. That game always reminds me how much better it is than 3. X_X If you have computer stuff capable of streaming occasional streaming is definitely better than never streaming, we should get some stuff up, find highlights etc. Show the bredth of games we play and entice more people down here for Tekken, Marvel 2, 3, VF (As if people play it), etc
I need to get better at marvel 2. So I am bringing a dreamcast and a stick next session. Granted if I have a ride.
What you guys have to do is level up at HDR or bring in ST.
I didn’t even play you in HDR, though I’d be happy to MM you in it for a couple of bucks.
I should probably get Som to teach me Tekken. Probably MvC2 since I can’t play that game either.
Chrisis I should just give you the money for free cause I know I’ll get wrecked (: But yeah I’d love to play anyway though haha. I should have picked a better game to get good at who plays KoF haha.
I’ll play it once (if?) it comes out on console.
Been practicing my doom combos, and I feel that I have a better understanding of them. I realize that I thought I knew them 100% because I mostly practiced in the corner and I only practiced against captain america since he gets the cursor put over him first and it didn’t occur to me to pick all random. The second loop can get a little iffy outside the corner against a lot of characters so you just need to know what to do.
good news guys…
if jess doesnt get the job on campus (making the dojo live for one more year), a co-worker told me of a club that they rent out for programs and such. she says its hella cheap, like for one room that can hold 1000 peeps, they charge 100 dollars for the whole day. i thought its sounds cool, but i want to know how other people feel about it. iam going to find out more information about it later in the week and possible go visit the place and talk to the owner. apparently its like 24th and mission.
also, lol. iam searching for roommates for possibly for the summer and definitly for the next school year. i know i already talked to some of you, but who else is looking for peeps.
So playing SSF4 again, picking Fei. Any suggestions? I still have yet to learn option selects. Im just going to get better at reactions.
So Worf was speaking to me about money handling at the dojo. Money is not supposed be there as revenue since he gets the room for free. I propose a bi-weekly tournament at the dojo. So one week will be the regular dojo and the next week will be a tournament week. Different game each week or not. The payouts will be 30/20/10. Maybe a 5 dollar entrance fee. IE: 10 people enter marvel = $50 1st:15 2nd:10 3rd:5. It’s not a big payout, but the extra money can go to charity, [even if it’s only 20 dollars] which will establish the dojo as a program to SFSU and not just a gathering.
I chose a bi-weekly thing because it’s expensive entering tournaments weekly. When it’s bi-weekly you can basically find 5 dollars in 2 weeks. This way people who want to compete can join the tournaments all around the bay area. We can have people stream these sessions since it’s not every week. Then if Jess doesnt get the job, the extra money will then help go toward venue fee to the next week or something.
We might as well do something because we have a free room with so much potential.
@Worf the Smash players used to use the rooms in the Caesar Chavez building. They would run bi-weekly tournaments there on Saturdays. No one shut them down based on money handling issues. So if you can look into that.
Edit: also, with all the modding Ive been doing. I can purchase a netbook to put the tournament program and organize the thing. I just need to mod one more joystick or something. HA.
That sounds awesome to me! I bet that would be excellent fun!
As long as we can still do casuals at a tournament that sounds good to me.
Also a venue at 24th and mission st. would be amazing since it’s next to a bart station and I could walk there ha, but I think it’s important to keep freedemonia free myself.
The tournament idea is great, bart suggested bi-weekly where I asked for end of the month to see how much someone improve. I really don’t mind paying for it entry fee,but it is just that this start as a free place to level up. So having two tournaments would sorta alienate that idea? Tournament will make us more apparent, and breed a stronger need to improve on a shorter time versus people just hanging out and playing for fun not saying playing for fun is wrong.
I don’t really like that pay out system, 30/20/10? Only 60% of the whole pot will be distributed to the top 3? I mean since this is a tournament it will bring many people more then the normal session number. Having to play and climb the ladder shouldn’t the top 3 get more of a “reward” ? Maybe I say this because I don’t know how SFSU regulate the rules for using their rooms but using 40% of the pot for whatever amount of pot money is a bit much. Also, people would be discouraged to even come with such a split system seeing how some people travel to tournaments. If there MUST/will be a charity amount I think it should be 10-20% instead of the 40% you proposed. So I guess that would make it 50/30/10/10 with a percent being charity or what nots.
The problem with venue is that SF has very little spaces that are cheap. With the extra money, if we do ever get removed from MPH or Crossroads, we can buy more systems and games for tournaments/casuals. So setups will never be an issue ever. Mission sounds good as well, but carpooling is more efficient. 5 people can split gas and cover bridge/tolls easily.
Another roadblock is securing a venue. It’s hard without being bounded to a contract or lease of some sort. I have a hall near my house in Daly City, I can ask to reserve. But I still dont know how much it is or if they have internet.
As for keeping Freedemonia free. We can. The tournaments arent mandatory, but a good gesture to provide a place for people. Instead you can donate a few dollars or cents. We’ll have a jar or something. So even if you dont enter, the spare change can help.
I feel that if the Dojo dies the scene will die as well, for us in the peninsula. I know everyone is strapped for cash, but 10 dollars a month to support a community you chose to be a part of will go a long way. Look at the newer people showing up. Once we have exposure we will be able to get any venue.
We have regulars: Worf, Anthony, Demon, Rico, Serg, Tasty, Zak, Chrisis, Aria, DKL and much more. Chrisis helps the community with the insanely high electric bill.
I am just trying to push this idea so much because we are basically a family now. Ramnation and them stick together. HAH. We are considered the Misfits right now. LET’S DO THIS.
@Silis The tournament will be a side thing, always. Something with low risk and decent reward. Donating 40% would look more appealing on paper to SFSU than 10. Well the payouts are just a thought and the details can be changed later. 50/30/10 was my original payout. But the dojo is still small. So with that payout it’s not that bad. Payouts will change based on participants.
For example: Beating 10 people should get you 15 dollars basically 1.50 per person. I have been to bi-weeklies and monthlies where they had to shut down because of a 50/30/10. 10 percent of 20 people with 5 dollar entry fee is 10 dollars. Which is not enough to keep any venue at all. Securing a venue is more important than payout. This is why Feedemonia people know why a venue is important.
As for it being monthlies Im fine with that, depends on the participants once again.
That last 10 percent on my payout was for charity uses.
Plus like I said, I don’t know the ins and outs of using SFSU’s rooms are cause this was never really talked about at the sessions, or anything talking at times ~.~
I am willing to keep the scene in SF alive, but like it would be a light contribution on my side cause I am still in school, no job, living with parents etc.
I am not worried as much, with tournaments and the recent surge of randoms myself included they will likely go if one is hosted.
I really don’t know about the details for the dojo, and for chrisis paying the bill will that be from his own sessions?
I guess worf will clear things up, anyways it would be a nice idea.
About the family aspects, it is true that we are a close group, but there will be some people who don’t want to represent the group such as being associated with the group, but is still are willing to be there. I just mentioned to chrisis how this is all seeming to be like Empire arcadia. AHAHA
HAHa. I know. Im just saying Chrisis bill must be hella high, it’s more of an homage to him and his family for allowing people to support their MAHVELL habit.
Yeah I dont know a lot about the SFSU rooms as well, but I know how much venues can cost. I used to be involved in the Smash scene and that shit, is horrible to even host a tournament. They charge venue fee + tournament fee. And it’s mandatory because playing casuals is hard when all the setups are meant for tournament play.
I am trying to keep it the most cost effective way. No venue fee and no mandatory entrance to a tournament.
As for 10 dollars a month? Recycle, collect change, do odd jobs, something. MM noobs and take their money. I dont know.
Whoever has that Hauppauge HD PVR Capture Device…do you think an i3 processor will suffice?
Also, does anyone have a HUGE external hard drive they are willing to bring? I have the computer, someone has the HD Capture device, and now all we need is a an external HDD for any sort of footage.
Lastly, what is that damn program all the casters use? Wiring Cast? Wire Cast? Lemme know and I’ll look into it.
P.S. A monthly tourney would sound good. However, it would be awesome if we can promote to everyone and anyone in the Bay Area. Try to get those people from down south in San Jose and those Starbase Arcade people. I think the venue is big enough to hold that many people.
I have a 1.5 terabyte. Wire Cast is the program. I know a streamer who runs an I5, so I3 should be fine. We dont need 720P unless we want to record instead of stream.
The tournament is available to all. I dont think anyone is grasping that concept. HA. Does anyone have any experience with running and maintaining a tournament?
Ramnation runs it from someones place and every other major tournament is sponsored with a huge turnout. We need to start small. We can get starbase and sunnyvale people, but we need to establish an order and a routine before we put into action.
