Yea that was a really small meet last time, normally there’s a good amount more than that nowadays. Freedemonia has gotten quite a bit bigger than it was, lots of new people postin in the thread. Maybe some people in the area saw the greenbars video, and maybe at an event some people might recognize our name. I never realized but if people don’t know your name at a tournament you’re pretty much scrub x
Gonna get in some training mode, thx to tasty and tao for tips, I like this character a lot and wanna get good with him. Need to get in a lot of games with him, I’m over a month behind everyone else.
We’re growing steadily but that doesn’t mean attendance won’t fluctuate now and then due to local tournaments and other happenings. I think Wondercon was going on last weekend and some people went there. I’m swamped at work until we hire and ramp up another guy to help share my load so this weekend I may only make another brief appearance.
@ric0 canceling volcano out of stinger extends the range where you can effectively hit confirm combo into a full BnB. Canceling Volcano from 5H has a good chance at whiffing from farther range.
I think Mary Park Hall is a building… and, uh, we play in a room in this building, but I’m not completely sure as I just follow people around.
That said, there’s parking out in the street, but it’d be easier if someone who actually drives commented on this…
Shit, I have no idea what I’m talking about; hopefully someone is on the boards tomorrow so we can update you ASAP.
==========
That said, I checked out the first episode of Hanasaku Iroha and… it’s actually pretty good: Masahiro Ando rubs me as a more talented Junichi Sato; the show in general felt like a more skilled version of, say, Aria or Kaleido Star.
Essentially, the story is about a 16-year old kid who gets tossed over to her grandmother’s house due to some circumstances surrounding the kid’s mother’s boyfriend (he runs up a debt and kinda drags the household through the mud with him).
So, the kid ends up working at her grandmother’s inn and has to deal with the harsh reality of day-to-day adult labor.
Uh… well, I can’t help but feel like, despite initial appearances, I can kinda tell where it’s going (the grandma, who initially comes across as an uptight bitch, will eventually be buddy-buddy with the daughter of the the child she disowned) and there’s a little too much obvious obvious button-pushing going on (I wanted to punch grandma in the face for laying her hands on the kids), but it’s pretty entertaining and comes across as something better than what I was initially expecting.
I dunno… Nichijou comes across as a dumb version of Lucky Star…
Not that Lucky Star was high comedy (if anything, it was mostly just compulsively watchable for me).
Will likely begrudgingly watch episode 2 next week anyway…
That said, watching more animus before I go to bed…
You and me both; shit.
Hype to watch, but getting to a point where it’s too exhausting for me to play seriously.
EDIT:
Not totally feeling SKET Dance… initially comes across as interchangeable with most animu I’ve seen that’s set in high school (actually, it feels like 90% of anime is set in high school).
I usually park on the street wherever I find parking. I used to park on the parking lot that was kind of behind the building, but that cost me 5 bucks each week.
We usually play in the big room inside Mary Park Hall which is right in front of the entrance where the automatic sliding doors are. You will probably have to get in by calling Worf or being there around 2pm since we wait for people to get in. I think it was easier when we play at Crossroads since we just prop the door.
Also about the random game of the week, is anyone up to playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii? I only have 2 wiimotes so I need people to bring some. Or should we wait until next week after RE5?
Okay, tried watching Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi (boys love show?) and We Without Wings (maybe a harem show?) and decided that it was a waste of time: the topic of homosexuality is almost always disappointingly portrayed in anime and I could do with less harem bullshit so…
Yeah, I guess I’m just watching Hanasaku and Steins for now…
That said, I guess the rest of my evening will be watching random To Catch a Predator videos (which is actually a horrible show, but compulsively watchable):
There gonna be a dojo going on Sunday? Can’t go on Saturday due to GREAT AMERICAAAAAAA. But I wanna go on Sunday if there is going to be a session going on. :3
