Freedemonia in East bay!

Are we playing today? Should I be heading over soon?

I will probably not be able to come to the SF session today, got to catch up on a few things I left unattended this weekend.

To get in with Tron, you have to have patience. I learned not to jump C all day, but I still press C when I superjump… It’s a stupid habit I have. Anyways, having Tron as an anchor means that you will have to rushdown for the rest of the match when she comes out. She doesn’t have that many options to run away with. And if you run away but then decide to do some damage, it will be hard to get back in.

Drills are good for pressure, but like any other special, TK Drill is the one you want to use since it has frame advantage. Certain characters can punish ground drills.

I started using wavedash with Tron, and it works well for getting in. Also, off a throw, you can wavedash and 2C,6C,Assist for an OTG follow up, the timing is pretty easy so anytime you get a throw go for it. I just haven’t practiced doing any lengthy combos with it yet.

Also, there’s this other thing I do, instead of jump C, I do jump B sometimes since I can fish for a jump S right after the hit. It will use your groundbounce but you can still combo after it. Jump B has longer range so it will hit people from further away, but you will have to press B right after jumping for the jump S to connect.

tastylumpia, it’s funny how you actually first started playing Hsien-ko of all characters from my teams.

Also, GIRP is a addictive game. If you want to practice for Zero Buster combos, or Juri stuff, Play GIRP. I got 20.4m on my best run.

@ demon- no one came today. i belive link and tao and tasty might be coming tomarrow, but idk. if you want to come over, ill play. if you want to wait untill more people come, then you should try tomarrow. give me a call first if you plan to head out here

@Chrisis When should TK Bonne Strike be used? And is it safer than a Bonne Strike on the ground?

@VII The long combos and X-Factor! I never thought of it that way. Maybe I should consider an order swap or start switching characters out during a match.

Yeah…maybe I should stop playing each character until she dies and actually switch out during a match. :open_mouth:

Edit: @zakuignited Ah, thanks. That’s some really useful info.

I think Zaku answered your question, but yeah the air version of Bonne Strike is way safer than its grounded cousin.

Unlike me, you guys can do consistently do Hop loops in matches. But I’ll offer X-23 wisdom where I can!

X-23 has to be patient, but with poor health, you can’t afford to block for too long, so mobility and getting good reads are key. Wavedashing and poking with 2C or 5B, empty jumps, off-the-wall jumps and j2C feints to bait anti airs are good tools. Air Talon B (try this!) into 2C (tyahh!) is quite punishable as j2C has extended landing recovery on whiff. You can mix Talon B up by varying the height or calling assists beforehand which will cross the opponent up and/or force them to deal with blocking you. With good spacing and done with a TK motion Talon B can fall on top of the opponent where you can do j.B twice before landing, which can be hard to block (j.B can also cross up).

Air Talon A is a decent divekick that can open the opponent up if they block it ( can also cross up, but I think it’s one of the harder to use dive kicks in the game). Air Talon C is good for escaping dangerous scenarios or catching flyers.

All of us love OTG ankle slicer into rage trigger, but let’s face it, our combos don’t do Viper damage (except with DHC glitch). Instead of burning meter just to take a character down to 40% health and watching them forward tech out of the corner, we have to develop good resets, mixups, and occasional shenanigans. That’s how X-23 kills characters. A basic reset is to replace S launcher in combos with 236A. If you anticipate the opponents air tech, you can try to go for a cross under, air throw, or air block string to continue pressure. I’ve been spending the past week and half just figuring out her reset game, she definitely has options!

I prefer X-23 in the second slot, as I feel she has far more options with meter. Starting her on point is also viable, but be sure your team order has a DHC option to get her out the match safely, in case she’s getting blown up or runs into a bad matchup like Taskie or Hsien Ko/Dorm once they get crap on the screen (that said, I’m curious how you guys deal with these matchups?). Aria, I think you have this with Felicia’s Kitty Helper if you wish to open matches with X. X-23 can be a great anchor if she has meter and X Factor due to her XF infinite (UR MINE!! UR MINE!! UR MINE!!) and Dirt Nap shenanigans, but you have to get in first!

The reason that I don’t do TK drill it’s because it’s hard… >.>

my girl sucks at marvel, but she beat my ass in qwop in her first try! i got a lucky 5, and she got a hella skilled 25.6m!

So who’s going to V’s tomorrow? Can I get there with ya?

Will be there towards the evening! Can we watch WNF?

whats wmf, a tournament going on?

Wednesday Night Fights, SoCal thing every Wednesday.

Essentially, it’s a tournament in which Justing Wong gets paid every week.

Also, no trips from Mondays to Wednesdays for me given that I’ve started Taekwondo at my workplace this week and my legs are killing me.

@worf WOW just finished that MODOK vid. Goes perfect with your team also! seeing how you play both doom and cpt.
but before I dropped MODOK from my team, Those double cubes are a bit tricky. Modok has massive potential.

@Worf I cant come tomorrow, Behind the Wheel Test at the DMV, Wish me luck! I could however try to come on Thurs. 8:30 earliest? IF i can wake up taht early :D. AND QWOP, Haha, It took me at least half an hour to reach 100M. THE HURDLE took up most of the time. GIRP is so much harder. Good luck with MODOK if you’re planning to use him! I’ll bring the Guide on Thurs if you need it. if i can find it ._.

And one of my friends said today (them not actually seeing me gameplay that gets posted up on facebook every now and then…) that they can kick my ass at Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Which im gonna play him during the weekend). I WILL PROVE HIM WRONG. can you guys help me go through intense training so i can body him. LOL and put him on blast. It’s… the competitive nature on me to anyone who talks smack without even knowing how i play.
So that might mean I wont be attending the dojo this week, but on Thurs im making up for that.

@Taozen LOL saying his team is Moe is mean? i think that’s a compliment. :3

I’m not gonna lie, i say WNF is better than the STARBASE/Ranbat/ most norcal streams.

Oh shit, Marvel drama; how did we miss this?

Dang I feel like I’ve missed so much in one week, that said I will be back tomorrow. Might go to worfs on thurs if I have some money to burn (thumbs up for losing my bus pass) but I will definitely be at chrisis’ place friday and the subsequent dojo. I’ll probably be rusty so looking forward to getting in some long sets.

To all the people interested in picking up a beam assist you should definitely try doom, doom beam = best beam

Also I beat qwop by fidgeting slightly forward while doing the splits for a ridiculously long time, halfway dragging a hurdle with me. I wouldn’t recommend anyone do this, big waste of time and no satisfaction, tho going 100m while doing the splits can be oddly hypnotizing…

@quisto-right? isnt that creepy? modok, doom, cpt?
@link-DOOD! good luck with your drivers test. and yes, get pumped for random smack-talk challenges! keep practicing and ask us questions.
@chrisis-found a ride yet? need some practice for the anti-viper team.

@rico-DOOD! where you at? havent seen/played you in a while. hope you come thurs. hows your spring break? i heard you went to vist family?

I remember this game well…

Can’t remember if I ever actually beat it, but I just wanted to get the dude running correctly, which seemed impossible.

EDIT:

Also, yes, the Smooth Viper/Noel Brown fight was godlike; EVO is gonna be great.
