Thanks as always for the session Nyawu.

My favorite set had to be against Tasty for the most dropped OTG into X-Factor instant kill crap.

I had been wanting to play a Phoenix team…but it looked like Tasty was dropping stuff also lol.

I actually just figured that out on my own (hence the 17 minute gap in my reply; FML).

You walk towards the parts where the shadow is away and indicates that the sun is in that direction.

I didn’t do this earlier (I just figured out which way to send Nero to using trial and error), but it was hard with Dante because you walk into a part of the forest, then you go back the way you came in.

Shit is terrible and the game should stop feeding me lame puzzles.

While it’s at it, the game should stop feeding me shitty platforming parts only made difficult by the ineptness of the camera and its ability to stay the fuck put.

Can’t wait to finish this game and get it off of my PS3 hard drive; jesus christ.

EDIT:

Why the fuck am I going back to the castle?

I’ve already been here using Nero.

Chris told me to post in here and find out who of his crew wants to share the room at NCR with him and I.

I’m looking to share here unless otherwise

I also have a car if that plays a role in anyway.

I would also like to room with you guys!
I am not sure how I am going to get there. But if Thaguy is doing a carpool then it solves all the problems.

SoCal KOF XIII live stream going down http://www.justin.tv/theanswerkof?utm_campaign=live_embed_click&utm_source=dreamcancel.com#/w/1297191328/4

Stream is gonna be a bit ghetto it seems seeing how it’s just gonna be a camera pointed at the screen

Okay, finished Devil May Cry 4.

Apparently, my reward for trudging through the game is the assurance that I’m not a “casual” player and a few CG pictures and some extra modes I don’t care to play.

The structure of the game is roughly like this:

Walk from the city to the jungle as Nero
Get lost during various parts
Walk from the jungle to the city as Dante
Get lost during various parts
Fight the same fucking bosses as both characters
Fight every single boss in the game one more time as Nero (fit into arguably one of the worst level designs I’ve encountered in recent memory; nigga, if I wanted to roll dice, I’d go to the casino in San Pablo)
Bitch-slap Jesus.

God damn.

Well, thank god it’s over.

So, yeah… my opinion hasn’t changed much: game is still pretty ass, but I finished it on Devil Hunter, so now I can have the satisfaction of uninstalling the game from my PS3 and possibly tossing the disc into an open fire (no, I won’t do the second part, but am considering a Gamestop trade-in).

That said, aside from the story or whatever, I can’t really think of much of a reason why they had to divide the cast of playable characters in the game into two: I liked playing as Dante better, but I missed Nero’s arm when I was Dante.

They should’ve just made one character with all the abilities.

Also, as of now, Trish and Lady were never playable, which I thought was lame… they might be playable somewhere in this game, but I’m too lazy to either google or play the game more than I already have.

So, yes… this was today’s big adventure in gaming.

EDIT:

OH SHIT, GET HYPE FOR E3.

I predict that Sony will spend the entire time talking about their new and improved online security.

(meaning that it’ll probably be lame)

Mainly interested in Nintendo, of course; shit will be godlike.

I’m in there in possible for bitkid/Chrisis hotel room. We can MM for bed space or I’ll bring a sleeping bag or whatever.

I kind of am getting a feel for KoF now but I may need to put that on hold so I can actually practice Marvel. As you can see from that vid, I’m a bit less than in my prime haha.

yo thaguy, you should play me if you want to play a phoenix team in the next dojo meet. i have some really cheap phoenix teams that i made just so people could get experience against her. magneto taskmaster phoenix, taskmaster dormamu phoenix. both are extremely cheap and provide a valuable experience against the bullshit you will come up against in tournaments.

hey tasty, i saw your phoenix play. in my opinion, you have to play more lame with her. her rushdown is really good and i actually agree with some of the very aggressive play you used with her even when she didnt have five meters. however, when youre not playing dante or other teleportation characters, you can basically super jump and fire homing balls for free. they build a lot of meter when they hit and they are basically like combo breakers. another cheap early tactic you can use when you play phoenix is when you hit an air combo, use the downward exchange, it builds a whole meter and when you get like 4 meters with phoenix still has anchor youve basically won the game.

ill just list some of the lamest (why am i even playing this game) phoenix tactics.
1.) fly in the air. dash away to escape from bad situations and then fire homing missles. (when you play players like chrisis make sure you always look at the arrow for your opponent when youre in the air cause those players are always looking to catch you when youre falling from a super jump)
2.) after 2 homing balls are out you can rush down using teleport tactics (using the teleport move to get in) or the air dash rushdown tactics. i define the air dash rushdown tactics to be basically when youre in a good position to: super neutral jump up or super jump up forward, then dash down or down forward, then overhead (high and then low) combo. also you can jump up, then dash down, and then go low (this is a “fake” overhead)
you can play really fucking lame by just shooting the two homing balls and then if the balls disappear before you get a chance to safely rushdown, just fucking jump up and shoot the balls again. mix up between rushing down after you shoot 1 or 2 balls. so like sometimes shoot one ball, and then rushdown. sometimes shoot two, and then rushdown. and then sometimes just go in. but mostly you should just be fucking lame if you dont have 5 meters with phoenix and just shoot two or one always. it builds hella meter and basicallly functions like a combo breaker.
3.) super jump and then shoot homing ball first and then qcf+a ball. and then rushdown. different timing and speed of the balls.
4.)basically, in my opinion you should only use the teleport C and the teleport B. the teleport that goes above your opponent and behind. the teleport A for some reason does not really fuck people up because it doesnt change the camera position very rapidly for some reason, and so its really easy to react to. in my opinion, you will never “fake” crossup someone with teleport A. if you know what i mean.
5.) when you get in an air combo, try to sneak in an partner exchange with down+S during the air combo. it fucking builds 1 meter…
6.)make a phoenix team where the second character has a really good assist. like my mag/task/phoenix team. if i get 5 meters and i still have task phoenix, i will bring in phoenix. even if my opponent anticipates the raw tag and kills phoenix… dark phoenix with task master assist + x factor = very very good and almost game over for your opponent.

Just something to address about how I’ve been hearing people getting discouraged with Marvel 3 and the stuff that happens in it, my message is that if you can deal with the stuff now and play it off, things will get better when the game inevitably changes (i.e. I know they are going to nerf hammer lvl 3 x-factor). For the most part, Marvel is an easier game to get into and if you do find the right team, you can get that win, but a win is not guaranteed. I see it like Tekken, where Tekken (which will always be my top choice of fighting games along with Soul Calibur) is really easy to get into and I think anyone can learn a character’s basic combos within the two hours. However, defending/movement in that game in general is hard to master and is fucking brutal when you get hit and knocked down. Tekken is an unforgiving game which I can really compare to Third Strike, momentum wise. Marvel fits into that category where it’s easier to get into, but once you get touched you get touched HARD (no Michael Jackson) and that is something that I have to accept.

For the most part I’ve stuck with learning Chris Redfield and forcing making him work in a game that really favors rushdown. Having a keep away oriented mindset is something totally new to me for fighting games in general, and it is difficult. I’ve spent a lot of time on him experimenting and getting my ass beat/rushdown these first few months that I haven’t even put the time into practicing Dante as you can tell (Amaterasu is amaterasu…she’s easier to cope with). Despite all that, and despite the technical difficulties of how I debuted at Starbase. I haven’t once been discouraged getting beat or complaining that certain teams are easier, simply because at this point I’ve chosen what I wanted to do with this game and I enjoy playing it.

I went through the same thing with SF4 when I first picked up the game and learned Viper last August 2010. I literally had to lose for 3 months and watch as freakin Honda and charge players in general get their wins. Shit can be discouraging that some characters are easier to use for that “W” compared to others but that shouldn’t drive you away, it should be reinforcing and encouraging to tell you that “Hey, I actually have room to grow in this game!” I actually stuck out with Viper and I hit a high point back in December/January, and I’m surprised I’ve kept some of that momentum despite selling the game and not even practicing it since January. After messing around and playing against some people yesterday like Sergio’s Cammy, Aria’s Cody, and Haibing’s Adon, I feel pretty decent about SF4. Might have to get back into it again since she is practically the same in AE.

Moral of this post, unless you’re just a dedicated casual player who enjoys fighting games or the Freedemonia people (I know I enjoy Freedemonia!), don’t get discouraged. There is nothing wrong questioning things and feeling doubtful. But you have to keep moving forward, because you’ve got nothing to lose.

Stank ya.

GGs at Bartnation last Thurs. and Dojo yesterday. Marvel team tournament was fun. Team Fantastic Four!

It was great playing poverty games like vampire savior, kof um, and jojo. Jojo - I’m leaning towards Avdol in that game. I like his playstyle a lot more than Vanilla Ice(Iced).

MK9 - Tao’s Mileena is too good. I hate that chick so bad. My Smoke is not cutting it anymore. :sunglasses: All I can do with Smoke is smoke bombs, teleport punch/invisible gimmicks, and the 3, d+1,2 pressure string(which I should be dash-canceling to make the string safe when blocked). I think it’s time for me to pick up a female character; maybe this will increase my chances in winning, lol. Sonya seems like a good candidate. I think she has the tools to apply pressure up close.

My thoughts on rush down versus zoning in Marvel.

All the best characters in the game have really stupid tools for both, that’s what makes them a cut above the rest of the cast. I think Chris’ offensive pressure game as opposed to just zoning with him is really solid especially with incendiary grenade lock down at close range with good assists. Characters who can only rush down or only run away I feel are weaker and this is one of the many reasons I feel Wolvie isn’t even top 5.

Wolverine is a scrub friendly character lololololol

HIGHEST LEVEL PLAY RIGHT HERE RARAWAR DRILL CLAW

Wow a lot to think about. Some really useful advice in there.

I go in with Jean because that’s just my style. haibing plays way lamer/smarter than me. Chrisis says zoning Zero is gdlk. For me buster is only a tool to help me get in that ass and do some combos. It doesn’t really work when you can’t execute them though -__-.

It isn’t just not feeling Marvel as much as Tekken but also a lot of stuff piling up. I haven’t decided if MvC3 is a game I enjoy enough to be spending my free time grinding and going to tournaments for. I know when it first came out we spent DAYS straight playing non-stop. With a game like that you really have to be sharp because a lot of stuff will kill you quickly. I know the ThaGuy hasn’t spent much time in training mode either, seeing him drop his XFC Chris combo. I’m worse with not even completing a basic Wesker relaunch, after I talked about how easy he is to play.

For now I think I will practice just for NCR, but I need some buttons to fix my stick haha.

This is the fundamental thing you need in life, CONFIDENCE. Fuck cockiness, but confidence. Just do it, even if you fuck up just do it. When people hesitate, that’s when people end up getting hurt or making mistakes.

As for Jojo, I feel like I pushed my character to the farthest she can go. Midler can only do so much. Might pick up Iggi, because I like the the style

As for Marvel, I like my team a lot, A LOT. To be honest the only reason I picked DP was for otg. Then I decided that I liked him a lot. Marvel is on and off for me. I never seem to feel like I am leveling up.

As for SF4 my Balrog sucks, I started using Rog because I played him in ST and CVS2. Ken was my original main, in 3s. Anyways, I want to learn more with them. I find it funny when I random head butt ultra to win. I always say this game is dumb for that haha. He sucks because I find him very boring, but only fun when playing footsies.

GGs all I’ve played this weekend. It was nice getting some SF4 in after my being away from it for so long. Random Marvel teams was surprisingly fun, I hope to see more spontaneity like this at the dojo.

Bad games to Carl’s Jr for kicking us out when I said their onion rings look just like Cap’s Sheild. Actually, they were closing…

This guy (no pun) speaks good truth. I hope to play some more sets against that Viper and your Chris “I hate point characters!” Redfield.

Remember to have fun, people!!

My thought on females versus Mileena:

Skarlet: Not released. Looking at the trailer, she’ll probably be my main! The irony of her character design is too hilarious to pass up.

Sheeva: No experience against this character. I speculate her tall hitbox will cause Mileena’s Sai zoning to be more effective than usual.

Sonya: No experience. Looking at the patch notes, she’s going to change quite a bit. If you pick her up, maybe wait for the patch to release before going in the lab with her. She has the fastest female uppercut and he EX Kartwheel has armor.

Kitana: Loses to Mileena; as Sais shuts down her zoning and mobility; usually her best tools. Sais are better than Fans and Kitana’s best poke ([S]2A[/S] d1) loses to the Splits. I say this is 6-4, Mileena’s favor

Jade: She’s good against Mileena and probably the best female character to use against her. Glow allows Jade to go even with Mileena at long range and EX glow can shut down Mileena’s d4, teleport kicks, Splits, and basically all of her approach options. Mileena’s lack of a fast special attack makes it hard to punish Jade; but if Jade doesn’t have meter she can get rushed to the floor. Maybe 5.5-5, Jade’s favor.

Mileena: 5-5 Splits are the Splits’ worst matchup.

Sindel: I need more matches against Anthony to get more data but it looks like Mileena can control this match pretty well if she plays lame. She doesn’t have be in the spacing where Sindel’s fireballs are the most effective, insta-air Sais pretty much win in the zoning war. Sindel has to play mostly offense in this matchup as she can punish Mileena’s escape options pretty hard but I haven’t seen all her offensive tools in action yet. This matchup seems pretty even so far.

Other characters I think fare well against her are Reptile, Kung Lao, Raiden, Noob, Ermac, Kano (even without DerpBall), and potentially Cyber Sub, Sektor, Baraka

Your Deadpool team is too hype. And you’re definitely leveling up!

I fully recovered! Seriously, y’all. Have fun with the games you play. :3

See ya on the weekends.

Saying you suck, every time you drop a combo is the BEST attitude ever.
and telling me I got to be confident !? YOU TRIPPING. Ahaha
:frowning: bart is so mean to me.

improving!? who cares about that!
it is all about…uhhhhhhhhhhh, let me get back to you on this.

leveling up gets hardier once you have reached a certain point, and if you do level up it won’t be a dramatic growth.
It would little stuff overall like able to blow a mix up string, teching throws, changing up your play style. ETC

lol you guys have to watch these guys on youtube called epicmeal time. basically they just make some of the most ridiculous, fatty, American, disgustingly meaty meals everyweek.
this episode is hilarious.
