yeah i really like the idea of a facebook page. also thinking about filming a match for each person so there should be half the number of vids. this makes it simpler i think, unles people dont mind having potentially two vid up of themselves, one of them playing (their vid) and another of them being the guest (being played against by the person with the video credit).
I don’t want to overly complicate things but the idea is to have at least a video per person, and I think its tidiest if its just 2 players per vid, the number of vids being half the number of attendees/participants. I can film these at the ‘training station’ to avoid confusion and so I can keep track. I can post these up on facebook or youtube or wherever people might want to view them.
Also, just checked and my Asus’s model has approx the same amount of input lag as the vh236h, aka the ‘evo monitor’ and maybe slightly better, just in case there are CRT purists out there thinking of steering clear of the training area. Although evo is switching to alienware or I believe might have for last year, they still used asus and still used it for the big screen and I think will continue to do so (the monitor the playesr on the big screen are looking at, not the projection gear).
I’m pretty sure V wants a lot of people as the event will benefit if his bosses see that a lot people are regularly attending…
Though, yeah, rowdiness could potentially be a problem, but I can’t really think of anything in the bay area that I’ve been to in recent memory that devolved into people taking their fighting to the streets, which is a good thing…
As for Facebook, I half-jokingly suggested it (I still think it’s a pretty shit website given how difficult it is to customize things), but it DOES reach a lot of people…
It could probably be potentially beneficial to have one of these in order to do stuff like schedule updates as it’s likely that some people don’t come down here to SRK… but then hang out at Facebook 24/7.
As for vids, I’m okay with it, but it will be variable from person to person given that some people don’t want their pictures online or whatever; we would have to ask people like prior to filming.
That said, when Rack and Cue actually does get AE, I suggest we field trip and video our experiences of waiting in line; it’ll be awesome.

I’m liking this TrainStation idea. From what I understand, this station would be for doing longer sets and both players get off after the match is over? I have a few key matchup writeups I want to finish before MvC3 drops and X-23 sucks up all my lab time :tup:

Laudanum: As far as SWIM is concerned I don’t think SWIM is the issue, it’s more along the lines of other people doing things on campus where repercussions are far more serious. I think SWIM actually had a far better model of dealing with it. As long as the Dojo stays uninvolved in every way seems like that would be all good. SWIM’s actions on campus are the only thing that would lead to negative consequences and should thus be avoided, regardless of how silly the rules may be in the first place.
Should everyone just bring the same thing again for the potluck?

Yeah, the university goes through a company called Apogee. And Apogee requires your wired mac-address and an account. So if anyone wants internet please pm me or talk to me at the dojo, because one of the many problems the university has in regards to internet is that they take super long to help you.
@Laudanum09-Sorry if my post made me sound like a jerk, but the university has a zero tolerance when it comes to pot. We are a state college, so we get state funding. If there is any word that SFSU is promoting pot, we lose state funding. Our rules are so strict, in that if pot is in SF property or lets say the dojo, not only will the dojo be shut down but I would probably be fired: And technically I work for my living space which means I will have to find a place to live. They even consider any pot or alcohol that is inside your body still a means to shut things down. When police officers see someone who isn’t drunk, but is a little tipsy, but there is no bottle to be found, they still will book him cause he “brought the drink” inside the university. Even if a law is passed to let San Francisco to have pot, SFSU cant cause it is not recognized at a federal level. So if “swim” is guilty by having it in his body before or during the dojo, then he should not come. Again sorry if I sound like a jerk but this is my job. I must abide by the university rules regardless of my political stance regarding pot, cause if I don’t I will get fired. Please respect me and the dojo and not do it.
Other than that… I am looking forward to playing you Laudanum09. I saw some cool bison stuff you did. Also, I like the idea of video taping some matches, time to show that the Bay Area is the shit! Damn, our community is booming with ideas. Since tomorrow will be Saturday, I think we should all talk about these ideas.
