Free poo poo trash garbage tier team!

Depending on where I’m at and how I’m feeling I might be interested in going for HDR and dragging Guy out of the closet. And Christie. And Kabal.

i’m about to lose a first to 50, someone quickly teach me how to beat jake while i’ve locked myself in the bathroom.

adam: if its not to late, move the tv to a room with a very low ceiling and no chairs or ask him to get you a soda and then take his stick at 49.

Definitely available for a spot. Do you have a link to the thread where this discussion is taking place?

If the rules are 1 character per team only, then I can’t participate anyway. But if not, then I’d like to propose a 7 v 7. I know that’s a pretty unconventional idea, but if they really want to know what we are about, then we should do that.

If it went down like that, would be really cool. I’d like to do it in a -how do I put this - tourney style I guess? Instead of a winner stays on style, we’d just do it so everyone got a chance to play. I’m at a loss on how to describe this. Basically, match people up 1 v 1, then another 1 v 1, and so on. The idea is everyone gets to play.

I guess you could call it a winners stay on instead of a winner stays on format. If you guys are following what I’m saying.

Anyways we’ll discuss that, it’s a month off, but yeah definitely interested in seeing what Detroit is all about.

jake

count me in

I won’t let Pittsburgh down this time

when’s the next game day? I have to redeem myself

also momochi vs daigo was pretty fucking free

Also everyone vote up on Accent Core for the extra tourney on the columbus bar battle. Need to give Jake more free moneyz and possibly encourage nate to show up as well.

In the race of first to 50, I took Adam to town, beating him 50 to 18. This is not counting the 14 to 2 I went with him afterwards as well. He thought it would be best if I let everyone know how many times I beat each one of his characters, so here you go:
Abel: 7-1
Cammy 4-0
Sagat 2-2
Bison: 37-15

Things were played in that order as well. His bison started doing a lot better near the end, he discovered the power of mixing up stand strong and stand rh, he figured out that if I jump at him he can react with his own jump fierce to beat it, hell, his rushdown even got better as we played. So way to go Adam. But in all honesty, he did keep skipping out to go the bathroom in the middle, each time taking his laptop. I bet he kept looking up matchup info, that jerk.

Mark, I was going to suggest we do a 5 on 5 and have it ran with 25 matches. As in TJ would sit down and play all five of their players, then Nam do the same, then blah blah. That way we can do it as a tally total for the number of wins. More updates on this later I’m sure.

Here’s a quirky random idea, why not a round robin for the spots?

Not to downplay Nam or TJ’s skills but uh… why not put the people who have been showing up and doing well at tournaments on the team.

You’re sounding a lot like my high school’s football coach (we sucked by the way) when he let the QB that never showed up to a single practice start every game and put the one who actually showed up in the game when we were too far behind to catch up.

Edit before Nate comes in with “if he’s better without practice so what”: The QB that actually showed up to practice never dropped a snap because he was there to actually take snaps. The QB who was “better” but didn’t go to practice dropped the ball at the snap 70% of the time and blamed it on the center.

I don’t know about you but if RJ and Mark were placing and doing better than Nam and TJ, I’d bench the latter two for now until they start showing improvement.

Then again what do I know, everyone beats my ass all the time.

I don’t even get consideration? Boo-erns.

Regardless, I was planning on going to this anyways, so yeah, looking forward to it.

No, the guy who finished the best out of us at ECT and put Marn’s Dudley on blast does not get consideration. If only there were some easy way to decide spots on a team…

Meh, it’s cool. All the guys that were listed probably want it more anyways. I’ll happily level up with everyone regardless, so long as I’m invited to gatherings and whatnot.

I’d be glad to play for a spot on team bananas

seeing how I’d pretty much get it anyway

just more street fighter for me to play

also, to chime in on this little “bench nam & tj” argument

this tournament was the first touranment (if i remember correctly) that nam & i didn’t do well. we didn’t have our heads in the game, our execution was off, and we were, to quote john goodman “out of our element”. it’s not like nam & i haven’t proven time & time again that we’re among the top of the food chain when it comes to sf4 in pittsburgh by hanging in there with our other top players (eg. jake and adam). the cleveland tournament was just an example of “it happens to the best of us” type thing.

i believe jake has enough confidence in both of us to know that what happened in cleveland was a rare occasion and the chances of that happening again are quite slim.

i still say we play for the spots tho, sounds fun

I also talked to Nam earlier, he will play against anyone for their spot.

I’m glad everyone is up in arms about who our best players are. This is great news, it means that you guys actually care for one, and two, it shows whoever the top five are, they need to be held accountable. All of you guys are part of our scene. From the 10-16 of us that competed each week at Duquesne, to the casual players at AIP, to those guys that show up every once in a blue moon, you all matter and we can only get better because we get to play against one another.

I’m still thinking that after the smoke clears, I will know who will be on top, but shit, somebody surprise me. I want to see upsets, I want to see someone take down the patient goliath that is TJ or outsmart the incredible playstyle Nam has to offer. It could be any one of our players stepping up and making waves. I can’t tell you the number of games I lost until I finally started winning. I’m sure everyone remembers just how badly Adam was destroying me with Sagat in the last game. Once he sets his mind to a character I’m sure he will start doing it again. Even Adam himself started at the bottom of the foodchain and now he is certainly one of our top five.

I want to see how everyone fares against everyone. I want to know if Herb is right, that butters is a contender for the spot. I want to see if Stephan’s argument holds up, that TJ and Nam are worse because they played poorly in Cleveland or if they learned from their losses and jump back in with both feet. I want to see both RJ and Mark shine and continue to beat ass. Hell, I want to see how everyone will hold up against the destruction of Aaron’s boxer when it rolls back into town on the 7th.

Well, back to being sick and watching movies.

  1. Only mark, tj, nam, jake, rj, aaron, adam, and guiseppe are good enough to be considered for such a team.
  2. The idea that TJ and Nam are not on this team is borderline ridiculous. If you think otherwise, please google “sample size” and then, once per hour for a week, remind yourself that you are retarded and that small objects like legos should not be eaten. To rephrase a quote from above: “I don’t know about you, but if two people have consistently played better for AN ENTIRE FUCKING YEAR, maybe they shouldn’t be benched because of one day.”
  3. There is a simple way to decide. Think back to the times we have played, remember who was the best, give more weight to recent events. A few months ago Jake, Tj, Adam, and I played a round robin first-to-ten where, at the end of the day, I ended up with the best record. If you go with a one-off tourney prior to decide the team you run the risk of an inferior player, me in this instance, knocking out someone better. A better idea would be to limit the pool to those agreed to be the better players and then let them have a series of round robins prior to the tournament. If you do this enough times a consistent top 3-5 will probably emerge and a brief elimination match could be played to round out the team.
  4. no, you don’t get to be considered. Everyone listed is significantly better.
  5. Stephan: You argument is at points illogical, uninformed, and irrelevant. You seem to assume that because you are not playing with Nam and TJ that no one else is. You have no idea how well they are capable of playing at the moment, but I assure you that the people listed above probably do. The point about the QB is irrelevant, whether one qb who practices is better than one who doesn’t has no place in the argument. Adam plays a bunch and Tj doesn’t, but they are both better than I am. All you did was prove that sometimes people who practice are better than people who don’t. Fucking congratulations. Did you know that people who study often do better on tests than people who don’t… and yet sometimes they do worse? My sister could spend a month giving blow jobs to the homeless and still score better on any test we both had to take at the end of the month. Here is a more pertinent example: Peyton Manning starts a game 0-5, gets injured, and sits a series. Jim Sorgi goes 4-6. Manning recovers. Do you put Manning back in or let the guy who has spent the last 5 years being inferior take over. LASER ROCKET ARM is the answer.

Sarcasm aside, the idea that the performance at Cleveland should be at all determinative of who would form this team is laughable. The idea that Stephan has a clear concept of how good TJ and Nam are, two people who don’t play with the group often, is equally laughable. To be honest, why should Nam show up? It’s in his best interest to invite Jake and one or two other people over. That way he gets to play the best players and limits the time he spends between matches (if ten people show up and there is one set up how long is the wait for your turn after a loss? 40 minutes? What is the net gain for a win? He waits longer to play people of similar skill). If you want to form the team fairly, spend the rest of the summer playing weekly round robins with the top 8 players and it will all be sorted. That way the team would be 5 good players and not 4 good players and, as I can only understand the reason I get lucky, one idiot who lands random naked jump ultra. On the other hand, I’m sure that those players could come to a general consensus without forcing such a time consuming event upon each other.

Also, stephan and jesse, black lagoon season 3 started.

Oh shit drama! In order to further complicate things, I should be able to make this Columbus tournament. It’s the weekend before any of my school stuff starts.

I’ll be back in Pittsburgh next week for mad hype summer casuals.

Sup guys. I’m moving to Pittsburgh sometime this Summer, since I go to CMU. Just putting u all on notice, that u guys are gonna have another member of the SSIV community soon.

I believe I will be able to make it for the Columbus tourney and I’m willing to try for a spot when I get back.

Well unless you can beat Jugg in Buffalo or Wolfkrone from Detroit or Empire members or TJ/Nam/Adam/Jake/Nate you might as well just chill with me, Outlaw, Butters, and Rock Steady until Fall cause uh… we’re here and we don’t even get PM’s to play or even hang out anymore because we’re too fucking garbage for them.

See what I did there? Go team Pittsburgh!

Maybe Nam and TJ just had a bad day. Ok so prove it. I know you guys are good, everyone knows you’re good, but if other people are better now or getting better and doing better then you have to give them a shot.

Shit, before your secret circle jerks, Herb showed promise but always came up short and then everyone starts disappearing and he only has my scrubby ass and Butters to play against suddenly when he was giving people IN YOUR GROUP a challenge. But no, since I pick shitty characters and I half ass anything dealing with this game outside of flashy shit which I don’t even put in the time to do, he doesn’t get better.

Butters placed higher than any of you at a MAJOR and you still push him out. I know the problems you may or may not have with him but he’s also showed promise but no one calls or texts or IM’s him.

Nate: None of us are stupid (us being Butters, Rock Steady, Herb, anyone not part of the OMG 733T Pittsburgh fighting game crew) because this shit has been goin on for awhile and we all know about it. We know Nam and TJ have been playing. I think at some point we just stopped caring. The funny thing is if anyone bothered to really talk to Butters, you know he’ll drive to philly, new york, wherever to play some Melty and you know there’s strong(er) players there in SF4 that would be willing to play.

I mean if I cared at all about being good or getting good anymore, I’d roll with Bobby and give him money to go play people at CTF or Spooky’s place or wherever, but I just don’t. And honestly, I don’t care anymore that you guys just go around PM’ing each other every day or every other day like “Come over we won’t let the scrubs know” because if I did, I would have called you all on it before. But fuck it, if I wanted to be part of some super secret group that every body knows about, I’d go join the Freemasons. At least they’d probably make it worth my time.

Last time I talked to Adam in person was ONLY because he needed a place to chill until his girl was done drinkin or whatever she was doin. Last time I talked to Jake, I don’t even know. Nam, don’t know. TJ, don’t know. RJ, don’t know. Mark was offering to give me a ride to ECT but I declined. So far he’s been the only one to offer anything from your daily sessions or however often you do it aka talked to me when he DIDN’T only need something. Nate, you’re excluded from this because we actually talk about other shit and you don’t just talk to me when you need something.

I mean I’d be down just to hang out some time because I wouldn’t waste your time watching me get stomped for 2-4 rounds in a game I don’t even play. I thought that’s what friends did once in awhile, chilled and just shoot the shit but I mean, if Super SF4 runs deeper than that I guess I can say forget it right?

I’m not trying to force us on any of you, I’m not saying call us up like “Hey buddy whats up” but at some point the shit is ridiculous.

When Fall comes around, don’t be surprised if I let you guys into the building but I’m not there long after.

This is getting a bit out of hand…

The community can only grow and get better if EVERYONE is getting opportunities to play. Yes even our best players will get better by playing more people. I know that sounds crazy but it is true.

I really could give a shit less about some rival battle with detroit, I’m more concerned with the internal community. If everyone here could get on the same level then it would only be a matter of time until one person leveled up again and the rest of the community followed. Plus more people to play means more random experience. If i can hit Jake with the counter ultra even once a session it’s not because i’m “good” it’s because I play him too damn much but you won’t see me land it on TJ. I need to improve my reaction times to everyone, randoms, god-damned everyone.

It sucks that no one really has a large enough place for everyone to gather and play. Well, some of us do but for instance my place is reaaaallly hard to get to if you don’t drive.

I hope a solution can be found to this quickly and this “I’m one of the best players in Pittsburgh” non-sense can be put behind us. Congrats if this is truly an ego booster to anyone. That’s like being the whitest gray hair on an old man’s balls. The rest of the world ain’t gonna give a shit.
