During the regular school season (Late August through early May) we play at Duquesne University on Wednesdays and Fridays, 6PM at the Union. When we can’t go to Duquesne, we play at AIP provided that our host is there (Outlaw).
At the moment, our host is out of town and Duq’s union is closed for the summer so we’re sort of spread out. So we just talk about where to gather next here.
I could probably spend a few hundred and rent out a volunteer fire hall near my home and run a SSF4 tournament. Nothing major maybe $100 top prize and/or a TE stick for the winner and $50 for second place. Any interested persons can send me a PM. That way I can get an idea of how many people would be interested in attending. I would love to make this happen by the end of summer. If the interest level is high enough there could be other games (Marvel, CVS2, 3rd Strike) with a similar prize structure. Let me know.
History shows us that when it comes to tournaments here, only Buffalo would come down, and that’s only if we could get about 20 people to attend. It’s rare we even get 10. Just a little fyi.

just a thought in regards as to where to play with duquesne out for the summer you could try games n’at on the south side. they have tons of CRTs for Lan stuff. you could probably rent the place for a day. but then again if no one is willing to spend money then a small gathering for some casuals at someones house is the best you can hope for.

If you do make a tourney most of us will probaly show but I would expect entrants to be very low maybe 16 at max(i’m being very optimistic here) if your good about advertising it and a easy to get to location but I doubt you could earn the money back. Especially since no one out of state would travel to pgh.
Also games N’ At is overpriced as hell especially when we can just go to people’s houses with multiple setups.

Cleveland would come out for Marvel/Tekken/SF2/KOF. I know there have been PA tournies that were just on bad days for me in the last couple years.

I really need to get some playtime in. My Xbox has been completely shot for about a week and a half now. Thank god the slim is coming out, I’ll probably buy it.

The new Mortal Kombat game looks good. I’ll probably play it.
Oh also in this no 360 downtime I’ve been messing around with Smash bros. Brawl mods. Balanced Brawl is actually really well done, much better than Brawl+ and some of the music and costume/custom character packs are a lot of fun.
So are we playing anytime this week?

In regards to the MM I’m flattered but definitely not good/confident enough to MM anyone at anything. Regarding the tourney idea I wasn’t going to charge an entry fee at all. A little incentive to get people together and get things going. Something a little more than ranbats or casuals(no offense to DUQ). I never hear of any tournaments in this city.
