Here’s the thing on why I offered to have people at my place.
Its for people who want to play 3s and Tekken since they don’t get an opportunity to play either in person because they can’t find anyone that wants to and they miss Tekken on Thursdays
Its for people who want to play SF4 & 3s. Believe it or not they do exist. SF4 is typically Fridays for the whole group and people will have random times during the week. I planned this for Saturdays for 2 reasons: I don’t work that night and it’s not SF4 night.
I doubt I’ll get more than 8 people for either tekken or 3s and if it came to that I have a way to get them in.
I have a back injury so me carrying/moving anything right now is out of the question. It hurts to even sit or stand up let alone pick up and carry things.
I don’t want to come to your place with you expecting SF4, and me expecting 3s. It’d be rude and it’d be dumb on my part since I would be the one showing up as a guest to your place. I’m sure, however, that you’ll be able to get people to play SF4 on Saturday. Some of these guys would play it every day of the week if they could.
If you want to play Tekken or 3s, my place is open for this Saturday. Maybe even some HDR/ST/whatever else anyone wants to play. I really don’t care because I want to play Kasson again in 3s again then I’ll probably go back to whatever homework/studying I had to do. Still, that doesn’t mean people get kicked out, just means I’ll be out of the rotation.
Hablouken, PM sent. I hope your ready to get rushed down or get caught in the middle of little Italy.
Thursday night plans, I am going to meet up with those crazy tekken players at CMU. RJ, Dice, whoever else, you guys should try and meet me there, then when I get bored from beating everyone but Tyson, who he says I may just beat him thanks to serious amount of rust, we pack up and head back to my place for some street fighter.
Dice, good luck with Curtis Stryker!
And I don’t know about you guys, but I totally forgot about namco x capcom. I just assumed it was an aborted project that wouldn’t be able to compete with marvel 3 or mk9, but it is back now and I’ll get to play robo balrog/mecha gief with bryan fury!
I am just throwing this out there, if your looking for a venue to start running tournament and i am talking on a small scale for now at least. Try games and that, its on the southside easily accessible they have a party room which you can setup up in. And there is a holiday inn on the southside should anyone outside of the burgh catch wind of it. Just my 4 cents.
Games ‘N’ At definitely has the space for a small tourney (<50 people) and I’m sure they’d like the influx of people. They do have some older cabinets (MvC2, SF2 etc) for casual fun. If there was an event there, i’d definitely attend. Aside from the main rental space, there is a small lounge with PCs, and a food/beverage area. It’s BYOB, but sometimes they let you store your case of beer in their fridge! Obviously their space is limited to a few cases, but its cool to know.
Word of warning though: When I called late last year to ask if they had SF4 or planned on getting SSF4AE, the woman asked me if it was some kind of game, said they weren’t planning on getting any more computers soon, and they don’t broadcast pay-per-view fights. LOL.
Games ‘n’ At makes you pay for an hourly rate per person though and they only have one machine. Also the buttons are competition and not convex style which sucks. Plus I think their hours are totally screwy. I am honestly thinking of opening up an arcade in South Side for this reason.
You would be better off looking in Oakland/Shadyside near the universities for an arcade spot. Unless you are opening an arcade/bar, I don’t think an arcade could pull the numbers needed to support itself on southside. I actually had the same idea for some time before I realized how hard it would be, not set something like an arcade up but to keep it as a stable business. If you ever do go through with it though, let me know cuz I have some pretty cool ideas I’d be willing to give ya.
the hunt for broken street dates has begun, thus far north hills gamestops are proving immobile, the search for unknowing walmart employees begins tonight
I remember when Pitt had an arcade in the student union. I only went there to play Area 51 and Ridge Racer, and they had like 20 pool tables.
I looked up MK2 the movie. That is not the worst movie ever made, not even the worst sequel. Major League 3 (back to the minors) is the worst movie ever
