LK Kobun Copter can be quick-canceled into Lunch Rush. Same quickness required as with HP->Lunch Rush.
If you time it right, you can interrupt a mistimed Sentinel stomp sequence with Lunch Rush. LR hits nicely high enough (about twice as tall as Tron is?).
On character death when the next character is coming in, if you’re too far away for the guard break, don’t forget to throw out the LK Kobun Capture Gun. Since it’s invisible, people often get hit by it as they rush forward.
Don’t forget about the Kobun Capture Gun. Just a generally useful/great move, especially that it’s a) mostly invisible and b) sets up Lunch Rush. Probably hit that 4 times last tourney, with 2 low enough to Lunch Rush off of.
Well-timed Kobun Copters are also okay against stomp-down, since they knock down and do good damage. They’re not the be-all end-all, but they meant the difference in one victory.
Don’t fret about stomp-down immediately. Lone Tron is pretty much owned by perfect stomp-down, so my options are: pray (not effective), push-block (minimally effective), Kobun Copter/Capture (minimally effective), and throw into corner. Unfortunately, Sent’s throws seem to outprioritize Tron’s throws, so I try to stay away from that. Plus, the rethrow semi-infinite just doesn’t do much damage against that damn lunk. Patiently waiting for them to mistime the stomp has been my best solution against flying Sents who are used to all the basic/midlevel Tron tricks here.
And never forget that King Kobun is almost guaranteed to swing the hammer once on start-up. If you’re about to squashed… bear that in mind. I traded a level to King Kobun smack-down a THC that otherwise would have killed a Cable.
good tactic there zach! i see u have things under control w/ tron. but does’t cable doom own that shi. cause in past exp. i just played team hella ship and tron was takin outta the equation.
i was wondering if anybody could answer my question,i saw tron doing an ifinite combo in an old combo video, upon closer inspection i figured out the buttons but i cant do it ,can any body tell me if its fake? (opponent in the corner) launch,lk(for two hits),lp,lk,hp,(opponent should hit the floor after you )lk,hk(wait for opponent to fall a little)then release the rock, then thats where i cant do anything else but in the video tron just keeps doing a lk,then a hk and throwing the rock is this an infinite or a fake?
Cable/Doom only partially neutralizes Tron. Doom is probably the best pure counter for Tron IMHO, since he stays in place and is defended (by rocks) almost all the way through. The onus then falls on the point character to land an overhead hit into Tron on the assist, which is dangerous with Cable around. I tend to play Storm/Tron against Cable/Doom… Storm runs away and builds meter during Chippy Cheese time, and she rushes down immediately after Doom releases the rocks. If you’re using Mags (my preference, but weaker against that trap IMHO) you either need really good trijump rush-down or to know their Cable’s pattern.
I don’t know - it really depends on the players. Generally I think I beat Jesse’s Cable/Doom with x/Tron now (based on improved patience and timing), but his Sent/Doom is pretty deadly for my Tron-based teams still. I don’t think Cable/Doom cleanly owns Tron, though. It’s a good/interesting match-up.
i would like to try using a mag/tronne based team…i think maybe mags/cable/tron to start. i suck with tron so cable would even her out. i’d like to move to mags/rogue/tron though. anyone have any tips to start out with? resets and such
My Magneto sucks and I want to play Mag/Tron… should I throw in Cable or Storm? Im not much of a Cable player anymore and I think my Storm is better. Storm/Tron doesn’t seem very good to me… =(
i like tbonne as my aa. … jus keep jumpin around while callin her then BAM! ur opponent gets sandwiched in btwn tbonne and storm or sent … . it’s beautiful!
storm/tbonne is hella good. … jus can do hella resets jus like mag. … like launch sj.jab a/d down land call tbonne go on otherside and then go crazy with tri jump or low short. … it’s all mix ups
i’m not expert but i’ve had hella success with storm/tron
Well, there are some of my match vids on http://www.evilslash.com but they weren’t picked for good play all around. Match 7 ends with standard Tron 100% #1 and Match 8 has Tron corner trap gun setup and 100% with Jugs-G, but if there’s any kind of interest I can put up one with better play for Tron specifically.
I’ve got to respect play like that. I learned things there. Yeah, I’d be glad to see more Tron play like that. My Tron tends to rely on getting the opponent a little confused/off-balance/impatient, and I like your more up-in-their-face Tron stylings.
that’s a pretty sweet reset bronson! i’ve started praciting it in training mode and can’t wait to test it out in live play. feel free to post up anymore
For some reason, people really liked the “summon Mag-AA, dash to other side against descending-from-SJ opponent, LR if Mag-AA hits” combo last tournament. It’s another of those ones that looks a little funny and has relatively tight timing. I started using it because I was getting bored of people doing that same basic trick with Sent/Mag-AA all the time.
It looks like the c.LK ‘OTG’ can only be LRd into a wall or other screen: I was goofing around with Jin Expansion and Iron Man AA, and if I OTGd them off the tail end of the assist hit into LR mid-screen, they were able to block unless I DHCed. Not terribly important because I’ve never seen anybody but Andy Lee use Jin/Tron seriously, and IM/Tron seems a dead idea, but… this does tend to confirm that the midscreen OTG into LR is a little buggy.
I haven’t taken it to training room yet to figure out the precise damage, but a first attack glitch cLP,cLK+Tron,HK,HVB seems to do about +20(?) damage over the same combo ended with AHVB. (I accidentally hit that combo against Kuan a while ago, and we were both shocked enough at the damage that I’ve started to pull it out once in a while just for the humor value.) Probably useless for anyone sane (much like Jin/Tron), but maybe something to bear in mind.
HP Kobun Capture as they start to descend after getting hit by Cable-AA is just fun. It’s pretty much free chip at worst, and when it kills their character, it’s hard not to laugh.
