My favorite Single Player was Rainbow Six. My favorite multiplayer is CS. Chronicles of Riddick which is the conventional FPS, but it was really overlooked for how good it was.
If your favorite fps is on a console system you’re a scrub, plain and simple. Q1 best FPS ever made if you don’t agree it’s cause u either suck or don’t have nuts. Q1 the best players dominated the weak like it should be, and it was painfully unfair for the shitty. Like a great game should be.
Close by is Q3-----Q2 then unreal somewhere in there.
Man I never played Goldeneye and I have no idea why people go crazy for it. I think its about time you guys explain this to me lol.
Any game that gets a 9.4 from gs and a 8.5 from ign is not overlooked, the game was under marketed definitely but most people agree it was one of the best games of last gen.
I’m so hype for L4D and especially gears2 AKA game of the year.

Where the hell IS Left 4 Dead?! It’s been pushed back so many times, I’m wondering if it’s the new Duke Nukem.
11/7
:woot: Thanks
Orochi, are you going to try and kick off an SRK L4D squad? I’d be all for it!
^Hell yeah.
Farcry2 is out gogogo! Campaign looks like pure sex someone let me know how the mp is but I’ll probably endup getting it anyways.
I’ve been hearing not so great things about fc2:sad:
I haven’t played halo3 in months I need to hop on that some time only thing I ever disliked was how two people could clock each other at the same time:bluu:
Yeah far cry 2 is a letdown really
I mean, I just expected more of it
360 or pc? add me for the 360 squad!!:woot:
I feel that this warrants its own thread, but idk how many, if any, Pure Pwnage fans are on SRK, and I figured maybe they would be in the FPS thread. Anyway, Troy Dixion aka Terrance Brown aka T-Bag () passed away on Saturday in a car accident.
The FPS that got me hooked was The original UT. Since then I have dabbled in a lot of FPS such as UT 2003, 2004, Various COD’s, CS (1.3 and up to Source)
As for my favorites… this is how I would rank them…
#5. Goldeneye 007 for N64 - Not much needs to be said here. The game was EPIC i it’s day and is still fun to play today.
#4. Counter Strike: Source - CSS is a very fun ngame to play. The gameplay is addicting and there is ALWAYS populated servers to play any type of game/map you want. The addition of the flashbang kills is fun.
#3. Call of Duty 4: I absolutley HATE Console FPS other than Metroid Prime 3. I just never got the hang of using a controller to move and point a cross hair. Mouse and Wiimte have just always been easier for me. Then I went to a friend of mines house and watched him play some COD 4 on his PS3. It BLEW my mind. The next day I went out and bought it and have had a BLAST playing on PSN. Prestige FTW.
#2. Unreal Tournament G.O.T.Y Edition. This is the game that got me HOOKED on FPS and PC gaming in general. I recently went into Babages here in Clearwater and they had the Entire Unreal Anthology on sale for 5$. I recently re-installed this game and have been having a Blast playing some old school CTF on Facing Worlds. Absolutely great game.
#1. Counter Strike 1.6: Even though UT got me hooked, Cs 1.6 is what got me into competitive gaming in general. I used to play and Admin on Brighthouse networks Servers in the Tampa Bay area. We had a really good group of people always playing. For the most part, CS has a great community and theres always servers open to play on. I still think that CS is the pinnacle of FPS and I think it’s going to take something AMAZING to top it.
I’m sure i’ve missed a couple great shooters, these are just the ones that etched their greatness into my brain. But thats just my 2 cents.
Yea no doubt. I started playing CS backing beta stages. I miss how much fun I used to have playing that game. I would play until I got motion sickness.
first? wolfenstein
Moved on to doom and duke nukem…didn’t play any pc shooters for a while until UT…didn’t really like the UT games after it and I made a transition to consoles and ended up playing even fewer fps
I started playing more when I got an xbox and later a 360
Its pretty hard to pick a favorite…HL 2, H3, Black, Rainbow six vegas (the older games were way too hard for my patience) Doom 3 is probably the scariest game I’ve played (I didn’t find fear scary). Soldier of fortune 2 was cool for all of the violence.
I hope black gets a sequel…does a google search ah…leave it to ea. I don’t want a deep game. I just want to put holes in things.
Oh I think Oddworld: strangers wrath was a really cool merging of FPS and 3rd person platformer and deserved more attention.
i’ve been hooked on Urban Terror lately. I wish more people played it today.
I first played Wolfenstein 3D at my friend’s house. He had one of those fancy new computer that took the 3.5" floppy disks. He was the movement guy, and I was on gun duty. The thought of playing this way and that it was actually a lot of fun cracks me up to this day. Once my family got our fancy pc that had a cd-rom drive, I got hooked on DOOM. I played the shareware version until I picked up Ultimate Doom. I didn’t really get into another PC FPS until Half-Life. Someone in the interim came Turok, Turok 2, and Goldeneye.
I played Half-Life way more than any other game. I can’t even imagine how many hours I logged in Team DM. Hundreds, though, certainly. After HL, I didn’t pick up another FPS until Half-Life 2. To this day, it remains my favorite single-player FPS. As for multi-player, though… It’s all about COD4. I’ve played it for about 4 and a half days, so far. I plan to retire once I get my k/d to 1.0. I’m 318 kills in the hole.
What’s the verdict on resistance2?
I loved the first one the campaign kept me interested enough to finish it which is hard for an fps to do since it’s usually all about the multiplayer and there were some terrific scripted battles. The mp was pretty badass it actually reminds me of l4d.
I still don’t consider myself a big FPS fan, though I realize I do play them quite a bit. I started with Doom, then worked my way up with the Quake series, Half-Life and Unreal.
Anyone play Skulltag or ZDaemon? It’s multiplayer Doom and it always offers something new thanks to custom WADs.
