So I did a bit more searching – and it turns out the SeaMic controller is actually a USB controller (i.e. won’t work on any other PS2 games than SeaMan 2).
Bugger.

DS3 pad wins.
Alright, got my Hori Fighting Commander 2-way.
First impressions:
Works with my InPin perfectly.
D-pad is VERY VERY nice – Saturn level IMHO.
Buttons are the tiniest bit mushy, but I could pull off Adon link combo (cr.LK, cr.LK, cr.LP, LK JK) and FADCs no problem.

Comparison with SNES & Saturn pads
Back view – it’s not completely flat (nice contours)
Insides.
I didn’t check whether it’s common-ground or not.
Membrane from Saturn pad does NOT work.
Overall, I’m happy with this pad, and would recommend it as a good 2nd-hand purchase.
Considering getting a new control pad now that I’ve decided to play MK on pad. I’m playing on a sony dualshock 3 right now, but since it’s not tournament friendly, I’ve gotta get something wired. Which of the following would you recommend? (i’ll be playing on a 360 w/converters)
Saturn Interact Superpad 8
Stock Saturn pad (version 2)
Hori PS2 Fighting Commander 2
Hori PS3 Fighting commander 3
Hori Xbox 360 EX2 Turbo Pad
Neogeo CD pad
Madcatz Street Fighter pad
Standard PS2 Controller
Some recommendation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Cool. I guess I should show off my pad collection/feedback in here too
I have so many controllers, it’s not even funny.
That’s a lot of choices!
First off, I would recommend against Hori FC3 (PS3) if you’re using converter.
NeoGeo CD pad has known issues with the thumbstick (plastic dust).
MadCatz Fightpad I don’t like (sorry MarkMan!).
Hori EX2 TurboPad had good reviews iirc (here’s one), snap it up if you find it.
Saturn Superpad 8 comes highly recommended from David Sirlin, so it’s on-par with stock Saturn pad.
I love my Hori FC 2-way, if you can find either of the PS1 models, BUY IT.

I tried buying one of these ages ago on eBay. The guy was in the UK and would not ship to the states. What a wiener.
Cool~ I think i’ll try to find the FC 2way. If not looks like I’ll be getting the Hori EX2! Thanx for the advice =)
No don’t start that…
Saw a 2nd-generation Fighting Commander 10B on eBay… for $120.
Well, it’s boxed…

Also saw 2 unboxed Ascii V.Jr pads.
Can anyone tell me if they’re worth considering at all?
I’ve been looking for pad options for SSF but for xbox options are very limited. I was disappointed with the dpad for the madcatz fightpad and from what I’ve been told the microswitch stick from the other fight pad dies out after a while so I was looking at a saturn pad/converter option for 360. Has anyone ever came up with one?
I purchased the Hori FC3 sometime back, basically a pad with a lot of flexibility and adjustments. No regrets at all in picking one up.
I want a Satrun pad for the Ps2 but, for now a standard PS2 controller
Need help! Is the Ascii FT2 pad worth buying? Do you think its d-pad will work well with Mortal Kombat 2011? Any suggestions for a ps2/ps3 pad? The only ones I have are the Hori FC3 and Madcatz Fight Pad.
I haven’t had a chance to use an ASCII FT2 pad myself, but I’ve heard that they’re pretty good. Be warned though that if you want to buy one, you’ll have to be ready to pay a pretty penny since they’re obviously not made anymore. As for good PS2/PS3 pads, most people I know who use pads use the standard DualShock controllers that come with the PS2/PS3 and the rest of them use a Mad Catz FightPad. Both options will give you a quality controller.
dualshock, for the rare times I don’t use a stick.
tataki, out of curiosity, you still rocking that PS1 Namco stick?
I should’ve bought the Sega Saturn USB Pad when it was on ebay 2 months ago, but it was $150, the only ones available now are the knock-offs, I have one and it’s crappy as hell.
Anyone knows where I might buy the SLS ones, been searching like crazy
I have one sealed and one that I’ve been using. The later one needs a new spring badly.
Now I’m mostly with my trusty HRAP3:SA.
Go to Tokyo?
