** Focusattack.com fighting game store **

DUDE! AWESOME! I can now hope to play Most of my games with peace of mind! The majority of games I own are dreamcast titles. I had an xarcade But wasn’t the happiest with it… Now I might be able to actually Play 4 player stick games with a memory card, Without heavy modding! AWESOME

I’m hoping that you’re the majority of players. Not yet sure when the PCB is released, but Focusattack.com will carry it. I’ll check with Akishop about a release date soon.

Hey guys, I recently purchased at HRAP V3 SA and the Akishop PS360 Trimod board, and I’m running into a bit of trouble with installing it.

first, is there any way to reorient the joystick? The bracket looks to be welded down and the wires being on the far end is making it a real pain to actually reach the board, especially since the wire from the start button is so short.

Next, and more importantly, how do I connect the select and home/turbo buttons? The other buttons have a ground wire and a signal wire, but select and home were wired to the original board by a flat series of wires

Do you happen to have any FGWidget LED Controllers on hand? I’m waiting for LL to stock things again but if you had the LED Controller, I’d place an order with you instead.

I look forward to the video tutorial on installing the PS360! I’d like to order one soon and I’ll definitely need help figuring out how to put it in my TE :stuck_out_tongue:
Also, the TE wooden sides look awesome. The site says you only have 5 in stock, will you be restocking soon? I’m not sure if I’ll have the money to order them before you run out!

Any word on when white screw in OBSN30 buttons will be back in stock?

PS: Keep those PS360’s in stock! thanks for the fast shipping! I will be ordering 5 more as soon as I get paid this weekend!

Hi Riotblade! Unfortunately I don’t have that LED controller on hand. I am actually planning to carry the Sparky 32 RGB controller board at FA soon. I physically have the boards in stock, but am arranging with PurpleArms to order the next version of ArcEyes LED PCBs.

Me too. @delusionownzyou on Twitter is handling the video production, and is working on it now. We’ll have a contest to win the MVC2 stick he’s modding with the PCB.

Regarding the wooden sides, I’ll have to speak with Gummowned about it. I believe that if you’re planning to buy within a few weeks, we’ll still have some available.

Hey Mekishiko - I’ll have an order placed for a restock of OSBN30 buttons this week. Delivery of that inventory will most likely arrive this weekend or early next week. Thanks for the good vibes! I asked Akishop about restocking soon, because they are going fast.

Some other news - Akishop mentioned that the Dreams PCB development - the PCB that enables your joystick to work with Dreamcast - is still in progress. No word yet on release date, but focusattack.com will have them when they’re ready. They were also kind enough to refer me to a new supplier, so I will have more select joystick parts available. Of them are Sanwa Mesh balltops. I cannot yet say exactly when I’ll have them, but will work to get them.

Thanks!

Do you have pics of the inside of the HRAP V3 SA? I’d like to offer my assistance. I’ve modded 4 Tekken 5 Hori sticks (two of them with PS360 PCB) and a few Hori Fighting Sticks for the Wii, so maybe I can offer a bit of my knowledge.

Without a picture at the moment, I would suggest just soldering a few inches of individual wires to the wiring harness (if there is one) from the stick so it can reach where ever the PS360 PCB is in the stick case.

As for wiring select, home, turbo, and start, I would just use what ever 24mm buttons that are on the case for start and select, then drill in two 24mm holes somewhere along the plastic case.

Here’s my most recent Tekken 5 Hori mod with a PS360: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1336.snc4/162832_1476553084185_1544485080_997970_7079131_n.jpg

Big thanks for the help! I believe that the upcoming video should help with some wiring questions, but given the many types of stick cases and configurations, it’s possible to overlook one. Much appreciated.

I’m working on a short tut video and not sure if the jman is referring to. Focusattack is the snip snap bomb diggity. Per from akihabarashop hooked me up to do write up and focusattack got me the goods quickly! Here’s a copy of the tut for a ps3 TE. I’ll be doing a 360 one as well.

"Thank you for waiting patiently. Per will be out with a PDF file soon, but I thought I post some tutorial pictures. Not sure if you guys will need a video, since I think the pictures would explain it. The video would only be supplementary and explain to what to do in further detail. This would utilize most of the wiring that you have of our own stick. Everything *except the Home and Turbo as everyone has pointed out. I understand that most of your are beyond this tutorial but Per asked that I write do it as simple as possible, so at 5AM, I tried my best.

On with the pictures/process. I started with a PS3 TE because it’s one of the easiest platforms to grasp the concept of installing the PS360.
Using this stick. I know it’s a 360 turbo panel. But for the sake of the tutorial, it’s a PS3
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1609/imag0490.th.jpg

Starting off after opening all 3mm top panel screws. You can decide to remove all quick disconnects or leave them on. It’s easier to work with the top panel off so you can move the case around or leave everything connected. It’s up to you. If you copied me, then you should net this:
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1469/tut27.th.jpg

If you’re having a tough time removing the quick disconnects, then give this a try with a thin flat blade screwdriver. I marked which side the joystick harness installs. If you find only one input coming out when testing after completed, then flip the harness over.

Look to your TE Turbo panel and remove the two black screws, so you can pull out your turbo panel. **Before you cut anything, lay your PS360 PCB in the TE and decide where you would like for it to lay inside the case. There are many ways to wire the VCC and GND. I’ll provide a couple methods. When you’ve decided, give your TE USB cable some slack in the case, about 6-8" or longer depending on where the PCB is set. You can cut the wires to match up your VCC and GND on the PS360
http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/84/tuthb.th.jpg

In my case I cut it too soon. See what happens? So now I had to go and connect the VCC and GND. You can connect it to the screw terminals or as guys Akihabarashop has conveniently hooked you up with a nice little external harness for addition wiring that include VCC/GND/D+/D-. In my picture, I was about to remove the D+/D- (Green/White) wires because they were not necessary. You can do so too by lifting up the plastic tab and giving a tug on the wire to remove it.
http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/3359/tut26.th.jpg

If you measured/cut/stripped the USB wire from the TE PCB to the PS360 PCB to the correct length, you can cut the Data wires and wire the VCC and GND to the screw terminal. I would suggest some electrical tape/heatshrink around USB cable after you cut and stripped the insulation and shielding wire.
Connect to these two points
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1479/pcbx.th.jpg

Now on to the turbo panel. There’s many points you can solder to. I’ll point out the convenient ones.
Backside of the turbo panel
http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/8628/tut3z.th.jpg
Open up and the front side can be soldered in a couple spots
http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/6613/tut2o.th.jpghttp://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6262/tut2b.th.jpg

Now this is the only part you’ll need to solder, so bust out ol’ faithful and tin which ever spots you choose and the wire
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2320/tut9l.th.jpghttp://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5844/tut15.th.jpg

Lay down the wires and heat up the solder and they’ll sink right in.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1963/tut16.th.jpg

Next up, label ribbon cable and you can cut it from the back side as close as possible (so wiring isn’t hanging out all over the place, possibly causing a short)
http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/1880/tut8f.th.jpghttp://img716.imageshack.us/img716/9764/tut1f.th.jpg

You can pull the ribbon cable into individual wires and strip away the insulation.
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6223/tut11j.th.jpg

Extra Tip! If you have the soldering iron at hand, then you can cut about a centimeter, fold it over and tin it. This will give it more contact surface and not be so flimsy because that stranded wire can break in pieces.
http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/4720/tut10.th.jpg

Insert and repeat for all 10 face buttons and 1 GND wire.
http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/5021/tut12.th.jpg

For the joystick, you can remove the harness and unplug each of the 5 pins. Then proceed to cut the pin off, strip and install in the screw terminal. The TE PCB is label with which direction the wiring goes when the harness is in place. For mine, it is Down, Up, Left, Right, GND. Double check your wiring is in the correct order or you’ll have to flip the harness. Some TE’s joystick harness come from the factory plugged in either orientation, so don’t rely on it being the same.
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/706/tut14.th.jpghttp://img823.imageshack.us/img823/6070/tut13v.th.jpg

If you don’t wish you taint any of the wiring for the joystick or buttons, you can do the solderless method.
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/8589/tut1314altwiring.th.jpg

After everything is wired up, hopefully you have a NA-USB cable to test it out. If not, don’t forget to order one if you wish to not solder or crimp anything later.
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/8946/tut17.th.jpg

Plugging it in, starts off Xbox 360 mode. Now to test the boards to make sure everything is kosher, go to your control panel on the computer, and select game controllers. Recognize!
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/6932/tut20.th.jpghttp://img221.imageshack.us/img221/6956/tut21.th.jpg
Unplug it and hold down the turbo when plugging it back in. Recognize!
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/5227/tut19.th.jpghttp://img197.imageshack.us/img197/4986/tut22.th.jpg

Nearly done there, if you’ve try to do the least of soldering and are sticking with the NA-USB cable, you’ll have to drill out the cord housing to fit the NA-USB through. Look for at least 3/8"+ in diameter for drill bit size.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/747/tut18.th.jpg

Realistically, I recommend everyone to solder all points if possible. Screw terminals are very convenient, but not always secure. I’ll be doing a video tutorial if everybody didn’t understand it the first time. The great thing about modding is there’s always a bunch of ways to do things, so although my method may not be best, I found that it was the most efficient for me. Let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll do my best to fix the tutorial or add on to it."

An excellent tutorial! At the time, I wasn’t aware that Akishop asked you to create a video tutorial featuring the PS360; I arranged a video tutorial with @delusionownzyou on Twitter for a MVC3 contest. That said, I believe that we’d all welcome any video and written tutorial for the PS360, since many have questions on how to install. It’s certainly a big help.

When Per is ready with the PDF file, I’ll update the existing one or add to it on focusattack.com. In the meantime, I’ve already posted links to your tutorial on FB and Twitter. Thanks again!

anniversary stick

hey JMAN, I’m Yenuel from Phoenix, just wanted to let you know that I received my stuff today, and didn’t waste no time and mod my anniversary stick, man this thing is awesome, thanks for the fast free shipping, I will definitely buy more stuff from you, thanks here is a link to some pictures that I just uploaded

Anniversary stick pictures by magocyber - Photobucket

Dang - I really like that stick! Really brings me back to the arcade scene, and the artwork is fantastic! Hope you don’t mind if I share the link with my Facebook and Twitter followers.

not at all, I’m really happy that it came out

Ok, that actually helped quite a bit. Thanks. Now all I need to figure out is how to wire the usb hookup to the board. It came with a set of wires with a thingy the pins next to big “USB” letters on the board seem to hook into. is that what I’m supposed to do? Just splice the wires together that match the colors? I opened up the other Hori stick my friend is letting me borrow (the basic xbox 360 one) and the USB hookup to the board seems to be pretty similar in there

Oh I modded my stick with the Balltop/Buttons I bought from the SBR promotion. Giants themed. Was done a while back. Your promotions are dope.

Apparently Joshua Kevin Wu on Facebook knows you well. He said “Damn him and his huge collection of fightsticks!” lol

That’s a sweet mod! It’s simple and unobtrusive…letting the button colors complement the sleek shiny black on the case. I’m going to post on Twitter and Facebook reminding everyone that sometimes it’s not what you put on your stick, but what you don’t that makes it stand out.

We’ll have more promotions and contests going on for sure, especially as MVC3 and MK9 launch. Just to let you and the gang here know, Focusattack.com and @delusionownzyou on Twitter will hold a YouTube-themed contest for a chance to win a MVC2 TE joystick modded with Akishop’s PS360 PCB. We’re also giving away a copy of MVC3 SE for Xbox360 and PS3. Will have details on that soon.

Focusattack.com is also working to offer a PS360 bundle which includes all necessary cables, QCDs and wiring to install the PCB in your configuration.

Finally, Focusattack.com will stock the original Sanwa LB-35 Mesh balltops.

Hope you guys might be interested in picking one up. No estimated stock date yet, but as I get closer to confirmation, I’ll give you a heads up. Thanks!

for the original mesh tops, will all colors be available, or just black?
