Theres a lot of e-penis dick waving going around in this thread.
So naturally I have to come wave my 4 inch Korean punisher as well.
[history lesson]
if we’re talking about the Ohio Scene, then everyone knows there is no such thing as an Ohio Scene outside of maybe Guilty Gear and Tekken.
And if you’ve been in the scene at all in Ohio during the time of 2003-2007 then you most likely know me or Kenji. If you didn’t then you were not in the scene in Ohio during that time, period, this is not an opinion this is fact. You’d have met either of us playing tekken or guilty gear in any part of Ohio.
during the time of guilty gear I basically ran or helped run every large ohio major guilty gear tournament for 3-4 years straight, with the help of people who some of you might not know (dubbed ‘team serious’), and for those amount of years we were the ohio competitive fighting game scene end of story, team serious would bring 20+ entrants every tournament for guilty gear alone, even to events I didn’t run in Ohio, as well as events outside of Ohio
capcom/tekken events were run by other people like fugee in my events true, but without team serious there was no venue before momo’s, and we were basically the only tournament in Ohio doing anything at the time, and bringing people from Chicago, NE, MI, East Coast, STL, etc.
I also ran for a time the only guilty gear website on the internet (romancancel) until dustloop picked up the slack. (archived at j1n.org/rc)
Then me and Kenji split Ohio, and Fugee picked up the slack with Seasons Beatings.
if you honestly question any of this, you’re either retarded or just un-educated in the ohio scene history.
you can look up the community crossup with keits interviewing funk doc where he mentions Team Serious as one of his motivations to keep playing (http://shoryuken.com/?p=248)
"Shortly after Keits left Cincinnati and UFGT died, Guilty Gear XX was released for the PS2, so I focused on that as my main game. Over the course of my travels for this game, I became part of a group of Midwest and East Coast players dubbed ?Team Serious? "
Its not some kinda giant fake ass lie/story that I’m making up.
the history of Ohio scene goes like this:
UFGT -> Team Serious -> Seasons Beatings
A lot of you don’t know Marcell, but he is a part of the dubbed “team serious” and he is legit and there is truth in his words. Marcell helped a lot during the Serious era he just was never in the spotlight, I think he is honestly just trying to help keep the scene in Ohio going, post-Serious Jin/Kenji leaving Ohio.
[/history lesson]
Even if he is “shit talking” in other threads or whatever. I’m not white knighting him or defending his actions, but INTERNET SERIOUS BUSINESS lol by saying Marcell’s story of Team Serious running Ohio is full of shit, then you are saying funk doc is full of shit, then you are saying I am full of shit, and of course I have to then wave my e-penis around and say something.
I don’t see how “im not coming because I dont like this guy who is posting” is even a valid reason for not going. There have been hundreds of tournament organizers who are not liked over the years run tournaments and events and still run quality events, and people still attend their events even if they don’t like that person.
how can you even play competitive video games with this kind of attitude? Thats like saying if you were a soccer team you only go to the soccer tournaments that are run by your friends who you like.
also how can you even be upset about shit talk, shit talk is what grows rivalries, and expands the game.
