we ended up not using the HRAP 4 Kai PCB as well to avoid the diode issues when dual modding… FC4 and GGXRD are very easy pads to work with according to my local modder! Regarding the FC4 we did two setups with the MKX Xbox pad. With these in the HRAP 4 Kai chassis you can manage to still use the hardware PS 3/4 switch and PS button functionality for the FC4. we added a dpdt and spst switch inside the cord corral to go between the two pcb’s and then between One/360 respectively. In the end its a very slick Quad Console Dual-Mod.
good luck!
I have to agree with the PDP MKX Xbox pads being dodgy… I mean its PDP I should not be surprised… but there aren’t any stats on reliability, mostly the comments are about the ease of use, or steps for modding. on two separate setups we have seen the xbox activate direction inputs multiple times while in menus. almost like it turbos for a second. never affected any gameplay in KI or MKX and I was watching the training mode inputs closely! luckily I haven’t experienced any cut-outs or disconnect issues. My buddy used his at evo and his el fuerte infinites were not a problem!
You didn’t need to add switches since you could have wired to the ones in the HRAP already
I assume you didn’t remove the switches or the daughterboards on the side of the stick, so next time, use those
I believe I posted the wire colors here before
Gummo, would you recommend using diodes on the XB1 version of the MKX pad if planning to later add the PS4 version of the MKX pad, or just use the FC4 pad instead?
Dual mod the 2 pads together and wire everything up to the ud USB converter. All the info is there in this thread, the 3rd party ps4 pad thread, and most likely the ud USB thread.
If you have never soldered or dual modded before I would not recommend doing this yourself.
Ok So I’m kind of wanting to do this mod myself, but I just wanna make sure I got this right before doing it. So according to this map, I’d have to solder a wire going from Up on the FC4, and the Horipad to the same point on the Q4 on the backside of the board? This goes for the other buttons as well with the exception of the added diode?
There been some confusion with people what Diode to use.
I am sure Gummo and Vicko would agree just use any regular diode
But for people who need a specific recommendation, use NXP Semiconductors 1N4148,113
Digikey, part # : 568-1360-2-ND or Mouser Part #: 771-1N4148-T/R
You can find this resistor in most online retailers like Spark Fun, Ada Fruit and brick and mortar stores like Fry’s or Radio Shack.
The Diode should be about 10 to 15 cents each. Maybe a pack of 10 for $1 to $1.50.
If they are asking more than 15 cents a diode they are asking too much or your looking at the wrong diode.
